Masculine designs with female appeal
His and hers There was a time that watches for women meant slender, small and dainty. Not any more though, as the world speeds ahead into the 21st century. Today, not only are women increasingly looking to wear watches traditionally targeting men but watch brands themselves have begun creating designs in tune with this demand. Perhaps the most iconic recent example is the launch in 2015 of the CHANEL BOY watch, crafted for women but, as its name suggests, shaking up the classic, feminine watchmaking codes. This was joined in 2020 by the PREMIÈRE·BOY watch, made in steel and set with diamonds, blending two iconic CHANEL design codes in one timepiece. At Boucheron, it is the Reflet, the Maison’s
watchmaking icon for more than 70 years, that transcends ages, styles and genres. Loved by men and women alike, its timeless elegance makes a perfect statement on any wrist. Adventurous women have also been known to look to men’s watches for a reflection of their personality in a timepiece. TUDOR’s Black Bay Fifty-Eight, launched in 2018, brought a 39mm size to the diving heritage line. At 2mm smaller than its predecessors, but still exuding the good looks and technical performance for which TUDOR is renowned, it has proved a popular choice with women too. What you wear on your wrist is no longer limited to anything but your personality and desire for expression.
