Municipality history The municipality of Karposh was formed on the 3th of November 1976 with the Municipalities Forming Law of the City of Skopje and the Law on Determination (“Gazette of SRM“ no.8/76) The biggest part of the area where the municipality was formed was called Karposh which is a mutual name(nickname) of two significant persons from the history of the Macedonian people: Karposh-the duke, who was a leader of the mutiny in the the area of Kriva Palanka and Kumanovo in 1689 and faught against the Turkish feudal lords ( Karposh mutiny). The mutiny was smothered, and Karposh was stranded, impaled, speared, and then thrown into the River Vardar from the Stone Bridge. In order not to be forgotten the name of Karposh had been taken by Hristijan Todorovski-a national hero of Macedonia and legendary partisan commander in the northeast of Macedonia. He died bravely on the 7th February, 1944, fighting against the fascist police in the village of Biljacha.
