English (33GG) Is teaching English for me? At Prince Henry’s we believe that English has a unique place both in education and in society as a whole. What will I study? Our course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be an outstanding trainee and English teacher. You will develop an extensive range of creative teaching strategies and resources as well as build your knowledge of the subject area and current pedagogical theory and practice in teaching reading, writing and speaking and listening.
How can I prepare? Read, read, read! Re-visit some of your favourite authors from childhood. e.g. Michael Morpurgo, Roald Dahl. Read widely across all three genres of prose, poetry and drama as well as texts from different cultures and different centuries. Think carefully about what made your favourite English teacher your favourite and aim to be even better!
