SCRAMBLED EGG HUNTS AT BRENTSVILLE COURTHOUSE

Ages 1+

Enjoy a unique spin on an egg hunt at Brentsville Courthouse

Historic Centre! Peter Rabbit has created trouble again at Brentsville by taking all the candy and toys in our eggs and replacing them with tasks and riddles. He won’t give back the goods unless we solve the puzzle! Due to his mischievous nature, Peter made challenges specifically tailored for each family who dares to try and solve them. He would like to include everyone and make it a fair and fun challenge for all! Can you find the all the eggs he hid to get all the clues and solve his puzzle?

With a ticket each family will get their own egg hunt area for groups of six or less, with a time limit of 30 minutes for each egg hunt. Once your puzzle is completed, turn it in to receive a gift basket for the family to take home filled with treats, prizes, and more.

For families who need special or individual assistance please contact Veronica Laughman, ADA Coordinator, at vlaughman@ pwcgov.org or 703-792-8066 before March 25th so that staff may be able to make accommodations for your family.

LUCASVILLE SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

Ages 2+

Reconstruction in the wake of the Civil War brought with it new opportunities for African Americans in Prince William County. Four years before they had been barred from learning to read and write by Virginia state law, though that did not stop them from learning on their own or others teaching them despite the severe punishments possible. Now schools would open for the instruction of all who wished to attend. These early schools faced many obstacles, from irregular funding, teacher shortages, political threats, and even open violence. Join us as we commemorate African American History Month at historic Lucasville School and visit the reconstructed 19th century school for a discussion about how people met these challenges and overcame them to help build a better future.

Preschool at Grō

Nature is an important element in building the foundation of a child’s learning. Not only does nature aid in a child’s fitness and overall physical health, it also helps in moral development, academic learning, as well as parent, child, and community interactions.

Our Nature Preschool at Grō will provide a supportive, safe learning environment to encourage discovery, question-asking and experimentation. Using both indoor and outdoor classrooms, our nature preschool will be filled with sensory experiences, natural objects, artifacts, trail activities and art materials so that students will have the opportunity to utilize all five senses.

Our curriculum will be enhanced by the nature experience, but will also be geared to developing cognitive growth, motor skills, and problem solving through hands on learning. As we prepare your child for their Kindergarten experience, our program will also incorporate language through songs, stories and dramatic play as well as cultivate social skills and positive self image through cooperative learning and play.

Preschool Curriculum

By using our developmentally appropriate curriculum, our experienced and educated teachers will incorporate activities to strengthen language, literacy, fine motor and cognitive skills. Children will become eager learners through both self-guided and teacher-led activities in our unique indoor and outdoor classroom environments. Our comprehensive, state-licensed preschool curriculum includes subject areas in math, science, motor development, social studies, language, art, music and self/social development.

Outdoor Classrooms

Our outdoor classroom will have a variety of stations for preschoolers to explore music, art, movement, gardening and the natural world around them. The outdoor classroom provides an environment for children to collaborate, be inquisitive and it promotes a lifelong connection and appreciation to the child’s natural surroundings.

Preschool Staff

We hire those teachers who have a passion for education and encouraging

young minds to explore and discover the world around them. Our teachers bring a solid mix of educational and environmental experiences and backgrounds into their classrooms. All preschool staff are highly trained and meet or exceed Virginia State Licensing requirements pertaining to education levels, experience, safety certifications as well as background checks. Our program and staff are inspected by State Licensing twice per year.

Our preschool program utilizes ePACT to collect necessary participant information and forms. All required paperwork and information must be fully completed and submitted prior to your child entering the program.

Child must meet entrance age requirements by Sept 20. Copies of *Physical Exam, Immunization Record & Child Verification (Birth Certificate or other documents must be verified by staff) before child can enter into the program. A registration form must be completed annually. (*Physical must be within the last year).
