LF GROUP

T

he Golf Group at SPYC September outing took place at Cove Cay Golf Club. Congratulations to the first place winners: Bijie Ding, Martin Morris, John Arsenault and Jeff Farmer. Closest to the Pin went to Jeff Farmer, Gina Pierce and David Bower. Players enjoyed a nice lunch after paying compliments of the Golf Group. We were also able to send two members, Kimberlie and David Bowers, to the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs First Annual Inter-Club Golf Competition on September 22nd & 23rd, at the Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club located in Palm City, Florida. There was much camaraderie and fun had by all participants in this exciting inaugural event. Future group outings this fall include Innisbrook and the Vinoy. Our monthly social meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the downtown Clubhouse with games with prizes, followed by drinks and dinner, as a group out on the Tiki deck. Our Annual Christmas Party is open to all Golf Group members and will take place on Wednesday, December 6th at 6:00 pm. RSVP to the "Evite" to be included in this enjoyable night. Please direct all future membership inquiries for the Golf Group to Bekah Rush at rush.rebekah@gmail.com, or come meet us in person at one of our monthly meetings.

RIDERS CLUB

by James Irwin have found over the years that many boaters also love to ride motorcycles. We all love to feel the wind in our face. (Maybe that’s why dogs love to stick their heads out of car windows.)

The bond of friendship runs deep with motorcycle enthusiasts. Be it a breakfast ride, a night ride, or a long road trip, motorcyclists are always up for it. When you ride a motorcycle, most riders wave to each other even when they don’t know the other person. No matter which motorcycle you ride or which part of the country you’re from, there is always the bond of brotherhood or sisterhood that brings motorcyclists together. We have an experienced, passionate group of riders that have traveled the Continents on motorcycles together. PAGE 24 | CLUBS WITHIN THE CLUB

We are currently in discussion to decide where to plan the next event. Cuba and Peru are the current options. We welcome everyone at SPYC to join us. Weather permitting, we usually gather on Thursday or Friday mornings for a ride. The rides are very scenic and always involve a lunch somewhere unique and delicious. If you seldom ride or ride a lot, please join us. You’ll be glad you did. The spirit of friendship and community is second to none.
