THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO… My beloved daughter Sabrina Alexandra My beloved grandson David Vincent A chance encounter with a special person in my life who also wrote the foreword Austin J. Haines And To all those who have believed in me throughout the years and contributed in some beautiful way to the woman and person that I have become today. With deep gratitude. “I light the way by leading the way”

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I would first like to acknowledge with my deepest love and gratitude, my youngest daughter Sabrina Alexandra, who has oft- times been in the shadows of my life, but in more recent years has become an incredible supporter and cheerleader of my passions and accomplishments. I am ever grateful to association with such great artistic minds past and present, especially in the world of the poet. I glean much from the written and performed expression of others. Each one continues to enhance my own love for written and spoken poetry. I hold space with deep gratitude for the generous foreword written by Austin J Haines. For his acting upon his intuition to respond to a chance comment from a stranger yet unknown, but whose presence would gradually unfold before him. He left a voice mail that forever changed my world, I was yet to realise the full impact on into the future. Even as a single creator of the poetry and photography within this book, I cannot help but give credit and gratitude to a person who has become a deeply respected friend and colleague, a professional in her genre bar none that I know of. Without Daphne Taylor Street of Street Media and Publishing, LLC as my amazing publisher and editor, this work would still be settled behind the unopened doors of my own artistic world. She has worked diligently and tirelessly to make this piece of artwork become a reality in the shortest period of time, such a talented gift in my life! Lastly, I wish to express gratitude for you, yes you, the reader. For what is a book sitting on a shelf without hands that open it up to explore, to glean the magic and wisdom upon each page? You are investing in yourself with each word read, and I am grateful. Enjoy, allow, ponder, question, grow, and may your soul be forever touched by my written words!

FOREWORD

by Austin J. Haines Poetry is the food that nurtures the human soul and broadens our perspective, so we can experience and understand life. Poetry grants us the permission to feel and express in ways that seem infinite. Through poetry, we can evoke things in us we did not know existed and be changed forever. For thousands of years, since language first began, we have turned to poetry in all of its forms to understand ourselves and our world better. Whether we are pondering over life’s decisions through Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken,” making sense of loss through Rumi’s “The Window,” or deepening our love through Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s, “How Do I Love Thee,” poetry feeds our soul in a way nothing else can. This art of the written word meets us where we are and changes us sometimes in an instant. Poetry is a true catalyst for changing your life for the better forever. The power of poetry is well documented and this is why we continue to return to the rhythmic lines that have so much influence. This is one reason I am beyond excited to write the foreword of this life-changing book, Catalyst. However, the main reason I am eager to write this foreword is because of Mandy Robinson. It is one thing to learn how to write poetry. One can learn how to form the lines, follow the patterns, and choose the right words. Anyone can learn poetry in due time. However, it takes a special person with the rare ability to touch the heart and soul of another person. Every once in a while, a generation is blessed with such a person. This person is Mandy Robinson. Mandy expresses every word from the heart of her being. This expression can only come from a life well-lived. This expression can only come from a person who has truly let life in and was able to overcome whatever came her way. Mandy writes every “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

word as if it is a song played just for you. Mandy will awaken things inside you that you did not know existed. I want to prepare you. I want you to prepare your heart and soul for what you are about to encounter. Let the words in this book touch you and allow you to feel. Allow the poems in this book to fulfill their mission and be your agent of change. Mandy has a rare ability through her intuitive nature to capture the essence of whatever she encounters or experiences and interpret it in a way like no one I have seen. When you combine this ability with a rich life of overcoming, a heart to serve others, and a love of poetry, you get the work of art you now behold. This book will be one that you keep readily available and refer back to again and again. You will feel compelled to share it with friends and family. How do I know? I am a two-time best-selling author myself. I had the opportunity to feature Mandy in one of my best-selling books, "Flashpoint, Your Turnaround Story Starts Here." Mandy’s chapter, “Why Do You Have A Rifle?” became a highlight in the book, and people still talk about how Mandy has influenced them to this day. Her story made the pages of the book profoundly come to life. Even though Mandy’s story in my book is not poetry, it has a poetic nature that is deep and touching. The poems you are about to read in this book were not haphazardly created through a series of brainstorming sessions. The words you are about to read were crafted over a lifetime by one of the most heartfelt prolific writers I know. In closing, for the past 25 years, I have read many books, studied hundreds of authors, and gleaned incredible wisdom. But, none of those works are as unique and soul-touching as what you are about to read. Mandy has inspired so many people over the years in her various pursuits as a Photographer, Legacy Ghostwriter, Distinguished Toastmaster, Storyteller, and Town Crier. However, you are about to discover her extraordinary ability to inspire you as a Poet. Let the transformation begin. “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

INTRODUCTION This book speaks to my lifelong love affair with writing, which began as a young 9-year-old girl in England. I would script plays, gather friends to act in them, utilise discarded outfits to create costumes for my actors! From there I would go door to door selling tickets for the upcoming Sunday Matinee to be held in the garage of my home where I converted disused packing crates into a small stage. Not long afterwards I began writing poetry without realising that that was what I was doing! An English teacher discovered my poetry when I was 12 years of age and encouraged me to keep writing. At the age of 15 all writing fell into dormancy as my parents’ marriage broke up under grave duress. I lived with my mother until I married in my early twenties. Interestingly I began working at that time, for a professor in a Birmingham England UK University writing for him and editing his thesis until I became pregnant with my first child and decided to become a stay-at-home mother. To my detriment, giving up my career was one of my biggest mistakes! Giving it up for my child was not! After escaping decades of domestic violence, I found myself in a Women’s Shelter where I was deeply inspired by 11 other women survivors for whom I wrote a poem, “The Empowerment Group” also within this book. It was published in an Anthology “The Departing Day” by the Poetry Institute of Canada. This ignited and re-kindled my love of poetry and writing as it all began to spill from my mind without prejudice or direction. Each poem already having been carved into the chambers of my mind over a lifetime of experience, awaited the moment in time when the portal would open wide, and the torrents of content would flood my life. perhaps crescendo in similar form to that of a Prima Ballerina, or the Maureen O’Hara of acting, or even the Champion Ultra Marathon Runner. They would become the shining diamond glimpses of my story as it had evolved over time. The Catalyst of change, the observations of transformation embodied in the words of the poetry contained herein. I became heavily involved with local poetry and out of town groups and poet laureates. I wrote, I read, and I performed each time with great passion and love for my rekindled and awakened gift. My love of photography also developed wings and took flight, already a published photographer I discovered some of my greatest inspirational writing occurring in natural settings that I had just photographed. It all just flowed effortlessly in my mind that Catalyst needed a companion within its pages, and so the reader can also enjoy my photographs that complement each poem. Note the poem where the photograph is that of a small boat sketch of mine. It fitted perfectly! After seven and a half years of volunteer work teaching communication and leadership skills, I earned the highly, Prestigious Distinguished Toastmasters Award. Amongst the many projects involved in teaching others I had to maintain and elevate my own pathways of learning and growth, accomplishing over 300 speeches based again, upon my own life’s experience. Today, my lifelong love affair is in full motion, my lover is adorned within the pages of this book! I bid you fond reading, inspiration, laughter, and a whole lot more! With gratitude, enjoy!

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

Fog I watch and wait, My eyes pointed alert for the break. The dragoon, heavily clad pounds the earth, As a breakers wave claws at the crevasses on shore. Where’s the patency that proliferates being? Where’s the architectural line That comes into view for you to define. Fog…… cool……haunting…… Summons the souls of the dead. Sweeping captive those entranced. Swirling stealthily making you unaware before it’s too late. You cannot move, it’s sealed your fate. From whence does it come? And to where will its retreat end? For what is its purpose? Perhaps, to conceal and defend? The secret vapour from the bowels of the earth, Or the driving winds from high above, Dissipates, as easily as it laid snare. Twill rise again from its dragoon like lair.

Behind The Mask Do you see clear, sparkling and bold? From friends afar is what I’ve been told! Colourful and bright, sharp and clear Is this what you see? Is this what you hear? But…. The mask conceals the truth beneath Of a life of pain, closed in, final just like a wreath. Breaking free and shedding its camouflage, The mask speaks to dreams and hopes a fine entourage! Standing tall, empowered and strong, A force to be reckoned with, breaks the wrong. Yes! I sparkle, dancing on waves. Yes! My life is clear and bold, A grand new life of which I take hold! The breath of life lifts my soul to soaring heights, No longer bound by chains and plights. Fun, living, dreaming, now I’m free! For in this mask you find the real me!

I AM Strong and fortified, a force to be reckoned with! Who am I that my soul exudes in such demonstrative fashion? Tearing fiercely at the fibres and echoes of my core, Whose tuition comes from the inner persons passion. Taking control of any and all of my life, Releases my soul from countless, untold strife. It saturates my being with freedom beyond compare, Encapsulating all that I am and that is oh so rare.

A Touch of Winter A white quilt, Dancing and flickering white flames, Snowflakes softly land, Vaporised into liquid, New journeys begin. Winter becomes a distant haze Void now across the land Barren, sediments laid bare, From the frozen sub terrain. Spring pushes to empty the last vestiges of winters ... stony .... cold .... prison. Be it a lake, a grave, an ocean in endless rhyme, From emptiness there beckons life and growth, For what appears empty... is .. never empty!

The Earth Does Can You? Can you breathe without oxygen from trees….. Can you remain grounded without gravity….. Can you be fed without the seasons to cause seeds to sprout and grow…. Can you feel at peace without breathing in a glorious sunrise or sunset… Can you sit at the rivers’ edge, or stand before a mighty ocean and escape the healing of the soul…… Can you fully comprehend that our human form is completely made up of the earth’s elements….. Can you smile in happiness without nature’s visions to invigorate your soul….. Can you change the direction of the wind or the rain…. Can you carve the cliffs and the mountains into tapestries of magnificence just as the elements do….. Can you delight in earthly sounds if the species of the earth are rendered extinct…. Can you dwell in the succulent taste of natures’ endless supply of produce if the land is rendered barren….. Can you truly appreciate that we are the visitors to planet earth…. Can you acknowledge the magnitude of the earth’s ability to regrow, re-plenish and sustain consistently without let up….. Can you guarantee that the sun will rise and set, that the rain will fall, and the snow will melt…. Can you see the perfect host, the infinite barer of life’s amazing gifts that sustain, enhance and create new life….. Can you not behold your greatest teacher before you…. Can you experience timeless infinity as the earth does….. Can you die and be re-born as a forest is destroyed by fire, only “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

to emerge and devour the decay with new life…… Can you feel the pulse of the earth beating within the chambers of your heart and the blood coursing through your veins….. Can you truly understand that “dust you are and to dust you will return” whilst the earth remains….. Can you maintain the earth’s atmosphere….. Can you keep its core at the perfect temperature….. Can you hold the earth in its orbit around the sun…. Can you…. Can you survive without the earth, as it can and has without you…. Can you make a difference before it is too late…. Can you give more love to your thoughts and actions toward our earthly home…. Can you demonstrate being the perfect tenant for a perfect landlord…. Can you finally see that we are the earth …. and …. The Earth is us…..

Love That’s Surreal That feeling of love that surrounds my soul Envelops my heart in a captured goal. To touch and taste the presence of another’s love, Brings rise to the wings of a soft white dove. The gleam in an eye As my love draws nigh, The warmth and appeal of my true love’s smile, Lost in that moment and lingering for awhile. The allure, the appeal that sends me reeling, With heart stopping flutters generating such a serene feeling. The care and the kindness, the freedom of choice, Together as one in thought, word and deed. Listening and exchanging each others voice, To search for explanations….. we have no need…… Be you true to the calling of your soul, Enjoy, delight and breathe in such peace. Of the love you behold, May it ne’er cease!

Sleek, yet delicate and smooth, Listen, watch, hear the sound of his hooves. A stallion, a jewelled crown, a gold medallion, A free spirit of thunder and lightning. Captivating and ever enlightening. Run wild run free oh magnificent one, May you reign forever, And your legacy live on.

Magic From Within Excited, my world on fire, To express my thoughts the time is dire. My soul smiles and laughs from every crevice deep inside, I spread my wings with arms open wide. I’m alive! I shout for the world to hear. I’m free to speak in words so clear. Bubbling forth falling over myself, Reaching higher, so much higher than the shelf. Is it possible to leap in strides and bounds? With actions that spring from the wells of the ground. I soar, I fly, I’m feather like on a whisp of the wind, Happy? Happy? Is this how happiness feels? Twirling, dancing, exulting rolling forward just like wheels, Wheels that gain momentum and speed. For joy, laughter and excitement I have a fervent greed, Oh life….. Oh love….. Oh peace…. Oh great delight. I shine like diamonds of the rarest kind, The power of such feelings just overwhelms my mind. Could I have known that my journey would bring me to today? The time is perfect, the time is now. Breathe it in, soak it up, let it permeate my soul without delay, Let my radiance bathe your face with the touch of a gentle “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

The Brain The brain moves endlessly in perpetual motion, A blank page to etch upon or create a notion. Electrical impulses connecting here, traversing there, Stimulating movement in voids of air. The synapse, the axon, the dendrites and neurotransmitters, Receptors awaiting like trustworthy babysitters. Energy all around us Energy flowing through us Vibrations of life ... Yes! That’s energy! Pattens formations, levels of adaptation, The five senses captured in revolutions of exclamation! Do you breathe? Do you hear? Can you smell? Can you feel? The energy of life that’s oh so real! Bubbling and brimming in excited anticipation, Energy fields alive and in precise commotion. Waiting for thoughts, dreams and artistic creation, In the cycle of life ... deep within the tunnels of the mind, Energy has its true devotion!

Day of Choice A day to make a difference with choices that you make, Will you hear, will you listen, let go of shallowness and being fake. Truth, honesty, humility and love, Qualities to embody from our great God above. The ebb and flow of the life that you lead, Is etched in time by that upon which your mind feeds. So make your choices, be you wise. For life is fragile and Oh how the time flies! You’re at the helm, dreams, wisdom, strength – you choose. Go! Make a difference – you cannot lose!

Uncertainty of Life Is there pain and turmoil inside? Truths from which you cannot hide. Are you hopeless? Has your river run dry? Are you burdened so heavily bearing down? Is it death? Has the sun died, leaving dark foreboding clouds that make you frown? Are you tossed and turned, cast away with nowhere to abide? Is it life, problems, yourself, from which you must hide? Which way must you look? Is it wisdom you seek? Can it be found within the pages of a book? Where are the answers to feeling so bleak? Can you sleep, or has the peace gone? Is it a shell of emptiness adrift on on a wave. Where is the life that in time has shone? Are you seen or perceived as deep within a shadow? Lurking sultrily in anguish, will there be a tomorrow? Were you born of love or sent from hell? Tyranny, neglect, enslaved, Are these the things upon which you must dwell? Pale horse, dark rider has loosed its chains upon me the insider.

Worthless, hopeless these feelings stand tall, Hear the words echo, “I must deserve it all.” Alone in need their hearts at a loss, Violence and abuse become their boss. Tsunami Disaster We cannot feel the sadness and pain, Of so much life lost and nothing to gain. Winds, rain and almighty Waves, How many lives were there saved? My heart bleeds for those left behind, In an environment of devastation what can they find? I send my love, my prayers of hope, As the darkness falls and survivors must grope. We are humbled and bend our knees at the power of our earth, Human life, frail, powerless to discover its worth. Oh great creator of life, Hear the words of the souls that cry out in their grief. Find a way please, to lift the strife, Bring their lives and hearts to swift relief ……..

The Walk The sun shines high in a velvet, puffy, cloud blue sky, The dance of its rays shimmer and shine atop the white capped lake. To bathe in the passion of its warmth and glow, here I am and I know why! The cliff majestic, looming high, beckons, Touch me, taste me, don’t be shy. Listen to the sound from sky to ground, Carried on the breeze in the whispers of life. A shrill call, a rustle in the bush, The lap of a wave to be heard and found. Close your eyes allow the freedom to penetrate your soul, Nature at its best in all its capacity. Feel at one with the bud that makes you whole. Life it pulsates in you, Life it pulsates in me. Life pulsates above and below the cliff, We are one….. we will never be adrift.

Tidal Wave of Healing Is your faith for you an anchor sure, When the unforeseen circumstances of life upon you pour? Are you pained of heart, sad or in grief, Life is born, life is culled, ever changing as it unfolds. But take my hand to an awe-inspiring great barrier reef where……. The reefs core is unmovable, protective, supportive and strong. Dwell awhile, rest awhile before too long you’ll see no wrong! Let the waves wash over and caress your soul, Feel enrichment, energy and peace, The balm of the ocean will make you whole, Endless calm, endless love, endless joy that will ne’er cease.

Reflection on fire, yet gently caressing calm waters, A cloud parts up above at the hands of the sun, Its brilliance beams abroad. Mighty Buffalo Awesome!!! Majestic!!! Spirits of the land. Who stole your souls and depleted your herds? Who sacrificed your heritage for the yellow dust of the land? You stood your ground you never backed down, Your innocence slaughtered in the name of the crown! Bold and beautiful, rugged and raw. Born of the land, molded to the mountains, Carefree spirits, nomads without law. Earthen, charismatic eyes of eternal fountains. Thunderous applause arose from the plains The ground shuddered and move with your power. Sun, snow, wind and hail, not even the rains Could arrest the mighty buffalo shower!

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

Autumn Solitude What an indefinable sense of awe and beauty approaches me, For a groom, his bride envelopes softness, richness, beauty, that causes his humility. Such are the qualities and hues I breathe in, in the autumn sun. Autumn shades, the solitude has just begun. A haze of golden light dusts the land it touches and cloaks with glory. Red, Yellow, Orange, Brown, colours that speak to the heart in this autumn story. There is life in death, at the truth we stare, In a trance capturing us in its cloak to wear! Tread you lightly or heartily upon a decaying leaf, Giving rise to crisp, crunching sounding pleasure. Such stately form bends down to death and grief, What beauty gone now, how do we measure? For now the trees stand tall, stripped bare of their vestiges, their solitude to reveal. Autumn solitude cannot be compared to any other season For life sparks deep within them, their journey is oh so surreal! For your privilege of beholding them, it stands to reason……..

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

The Mighty Elm Tree Beneath your majestic yet crooked limbs, Of your splendour and life we are given a glimpse, What do you hear when life walks, crawls or flies near? What do you see as you form shade, an umbrella, a breeze...... Oh great and lofty Elm tree? Squirrels, birds, insects all collected together, Hovering, huddled, protected from the weather. How you’ve lived and seen such a vast life.... History, time, and storms enveloped you with their strife! But now you’ve succumbed, been brought to your knees, As disease ravaged your body with careless relent. We’ve journeyed together with the greatest of ease, As we ponder and traverse through the years ahead.... One day we’ll lament ... I wonder where the Great Elm went?

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

His Death Reclaimed Her Love Strong emotions can metamorphose into spiritual treasures, The binary of life for which there are no measures. My mother gone, my child gone too. And now my father, such is true. Here today and gone tomorrow, who foretold that the heart could breathe such sorrow! Three lives lost how much more can one bear….. Time, history, memories, life There is so much of these to share. Your death reclaims my love for you dear father, To have heard and held you once more, I’d rather. But now they sleep, they rest from life. They are at peace. Problems, strife, pain, worries, parts of life that now do cease. I’ve carried on I had no choice, The world was yet to hear my voice. I’ve found my feet that carry me strong, On my journey through life where I see and feel no wrong. I seek radical humility where truth and love lie, Lessons learned become who I am. Nothing prevents me, not even the power of a mighty dam.

Have A Heart It pulses with lifeblood fluid, That twists, turns, through arteries and veins. From the ancient lives like that of a druid, Upon its journey you can place no reins. Red and raw when exposed to the air, But within its tunnels it’s blue and royal. Feeds the heart with nutrients for power, Keeping us alive and strong like a tower. Beat, beat, pump with rythym and flow, Sending oxygen to body parts as you go. Walls of muscles, tissue and sinew, Flexible yet strong, so much you show. Eat well, stay healthy, be wise, For what you eat feeds your heart! Clog its canals with fat and cholesterol, And you from this world, will depart.

La Bella Donna She has the passion carved into her soul, The dance weaves and winds through her blood. Her body moves and sways to the rythym, Cascading like raindrops it drives her hard. On fire to rise and free to fall, Watch her glide she has it all. Electrifying aura envelops her movements, A tilt of her head, a flick of her hair. Her arms caress the summit of a mountain, Descending in form woven in motion. Always returning to the core of the dance, Her smile twirls with the flare of her skirt. Her legs strike out in unbridled perfection, Reigned in by the need of deep desire. An exhibitionist with such great flare, There’s nothing on the dance floor that she wouldn’t dare! Her curves, her lines smooth and seductive, Perfumed and sensual her muscles impel. Mesmerising her every watcher, beguiling and unforgiving, Light on her feet, heavy in her artistry. La Bella Donna The dance is her music, The music IS her dance!

The Dream There’s love on my lips, A taste of fullness, made complete. Lingering, longing, alluring and provoking. How is it that I must wait? How is it that he sees not? Blind to the passion that crouches awaiting to be ignited. Why does he not touch? Why does he not taste? I stand transparent before him. He looks on beyond, He walks through me, And I evaporate into non existence. An eternity to wander alone, Where was the warmth? Why was extreme cold my covering? Did he not sense the fire in my heart? Or envision the flames dancing upon and caressing his soul? A surge of heat as unbridled lips meet, Ohhhhh ‘twas but a dream, Of strength, of love, of want and desire. But the dreamer was one alone……. The dream was mine!

Black And Rugged A black pearl of the rarest kind, Stands tall, and strong, and bold. A toss of his head, a determined mind, Dares you to take his reins and see what insights are about to unfold! Black and striking, a mane of great courage, Winds at his back, he owns the land. Snorting, rearing, on hind feet he calls, To daring heights let him take you by the hand! Ride on majestic one, ride, ride on! Stretch your neck as you gallop at speed. Traverse valley, lakes and mountains, Spirited and free, dominant and taking no heed! The black pearled stallion calls to my soul, Touch me, taste the sinews of my strength. Fear not of to where we may ride, Wonders of beauty, ageless and time less, Await the rider who straddles my side.

Hazy Harbour Meets Shoreline Late hazy afternoon by the lake Sunlight spills through darkening clouds The tower bell clangs on the hour…… resonating A yacht hoists its sails and picks up speed. Diamond droplets of sun dance atop the waves Gulls squalk in the wake of the yacht The heat penetrates to the body’s core A sea of faces saturate the shoreline. The breeze, the breeze, an oasis to the soul Sanity, the name of the yacht gliding effortlessly T’ward open waters. The haze gathers depths of obscurity Fruition, another named yacht holds her ground in dock. An outboard motor pierces the distant silence A crowd of voices gargle their sounds…. Indistinguishable….. boisterous Scantily clad human forms glow in burnt red and shades of brown The spilt suns rays show no mercy….. no prejudice. Sentinels arise from their hulls Tall, straight, bound by holding lines, Wait patiently, pondering their time in chains Dreaming of the ebb and flow of the tide……

A bomber booms out of the cloud above The water ripples to its vibrations, Big, bold, dark shape and colour Two streams of black emissions trail and lower themselves to the human mass below. Gulls squalk relentlessly vying for every last scrap The seek, they find, they dive, they arise Beaks heavy with booty dependent on their holding strength. Others have observed and hone in with dynamic speed…… the battle ensues! I write effortlessly, my pen an extension of my hand magnetised to the paper I am an observer, passive like the gulls Yet alert to ever changing rhythyms and patterns That flow through change, inevitable change that justifies life. Baskets of red flowers draped in greenery hang from their chains Dabbed from an artists palette onto a sky filled canvas Gently swaying, elevated by the breeze Desirous of freedom, to take to the sky and blend their colour into the canvas. Soon evening will fall and the sky will calm itself in hues of crimson, pinks, and purples, The ball of fire will smoothly lower itself to sit on the horizon Shades of golden sparkle will dazzle our eyes The masses will evaporate into serenity for the harbour.

Baked Awakened in a hot sweat, heavy air beating and plunging down my lungs Flailing arms attempt to disperse the mass to no avail. My body’s core heats, my body’s core heats Taking all prisoners. Blood cells erupt into frantic movement We must cool the core, we must….. Water droplets attempt to fall from my skin eager to assist the cool down. They evaporate into the mass, the mass has no intention of allowing life saving aid! I dream of cold icy water trickling into my mouth touching every crevice, permeating my soul, The sun beats down, my body bears down. The oasis is only of my mind, Oxygen has depleted. Alvioli pockets sag….. empty of fortitude. Consciousness is seeping away, There is no relief in sight. The mind hallucinates The heart cannot withstand, Baked in the harshness of an arid, cold and empty land.

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

A Place Beyond The Silence There’s a place beyond the silence That stills the night and calms the storm. That steps lightly permeating your essence. This void that empties and spills pain into the great divide ... the vast unknown ... Within this pure illumination of Divinity’s light Hope takes your heart in its hands. It caresses the mighty chambers where life blood has surged incessantly for eons of time ... That’s pounded the walls with courage and fortitude. This place that stills the night, beyond the silence kissed the soul of life within. Caresses your heart and bathes you, surrounds you ... Craves that you trust and allow ... give in to its calling. Holds you as the axis of the earth is held! Hope has sunk its pedestals into your core... The gail subsides The rain peters out The lightning abates The raging foe that defied you to give in, is vanquished into non existent eternity. The flames of pain are a far distant, dying ember where even its memory is an illusion. Come my child ... sit awhile ... feel the soothing balm of hope blanketing your heart so softly, as if nestled amongst the feathers of Eider Down. Even the stark, storm battered jagged monsters rising from the bowels of the earth to touch the sky... Even the mighty stoic, ocean cliffs standing staunchly in frigid temperatures, Are unable to penetrate the Down of Divinity! “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

Do you feel the light of the Great Spirit? Are you magnetized in the warmth of His touch? Wherein lies the refinement of your soul? LOVE ... pervades each kiss, each touch, each breath upon your anguish. LOVE ... is the embodiment of the Great Spirit. You are one with the greatest and most powerful Divinity that brings you now to His presence. Fear cannot exist where love knows none... My child ... surrender your soul to that from whence you came. Take hold, firm hold of the hand of hope, the pillar of love. Sit awhile ... bathe ... absorb ... drift in the echoes of the pure light and love surrounding you now.... There’s a place beyond the silence That stills the night and calms the storm I see you I feel your presence And now you are here ... you... are loved!

My Dream, My Vision I’ve dreamed a dream for years gone by, That’s eaten at my soul and carved a way through my veins. I’ve breathed it, dreamed it I cannot lie, I’m on the world stage with the pride and power of lions and their manes! My name IS Mandy Robinson as the world is now coming to know, I speak with words of diction and articulation. My performance blends, and shines, Sparkles and dazzles in the light of the show! Empowering, exhilarating passion feeding my cells, Propelling me into a beautiful world of my own creation. Motivating, Inspiring and bringing hope to all, The voice has risen from the depths of despair. Hear me speak, decide for yourself as I stand tall, Feel my journey of growth, breathing life unafraid to deliver and share. I dance to the tune of my own vibration, Freed from the piper without collaboration. Open heart, open mind, Precious pearls and gems to find!

Storm Pending, Pier Bracing The condos appear to burn, from behind Hazed sunlight filled with grey smoke. Am I alongside an erupting volcanoe? With great plumes of ash laden smoke and cloud billowing? Vohomiting? Venting? ‘Tis the evening sky pushing forward Gelling with the last strands of crimson glows. Gulls feel the pending storm, crying out in relentless unease. The massive clouds linger in hovering formation. Featherlike clouds dust the tops of the willows that sway but do not fall back. The wind grows strong holding fast all in its wake. Faint remnants of pin striped sunlight hail from behind feeble attempts to regain control. And though the masses have dispersed, there is no silence or serenity. Waves whip at the ankles of stragglers in the surf, Vehicles in convoy saturate the atmosphere. Speed bumps are no means of halting wreckless spirits. The lake shivers and battles to hold ground, The yachts bob from side to side, the sentinels sway back and forth. A rumble heard, deep and pending warning, The outlook is foreboding, nature commands life! Life does her bidding

The Empowerment Group Should I go? I’m so down and so shy With gut wrenching urges to sob and just cry. Will they judge me? Will it be fair? Will I have hope? Should I dare? Why am I here? Is it about doubt and fear? Or is it the courage to right the wrong In this group of empowerment I’ll sing my song! I listen to others who share my heartache and pain, But life’s there for embracing, it’s not all in vain! Time and again the mountain seems unattainably high, But, on the wings of an eagle I can soar, I can fly! Others behaviour acting so unkind, Bruises the soul, desensitises the mind. Don’t put me down that my spirit should frown, In rebukes and oppression I’ll no longer drown. Warm and kind, caring and true Is this me? Is that you? What happened then to lose this sight? I am unique, I have the right! Creative and artful at one with myself, Love, joy and peace reside no longer on the shelf. Reflecting and meditating on all that I need To nurture and heal I’ll hasten with speed!

I sustain my own self esteem Intuition and instincts, upon these I will lean! Feel the pride, the strength and the power My time has come, this is my hour! So be of good courage, be of good cheer, Rise to new heights without doubt and without fear! Proclaim, “I AM a special person who deserves to be free So I take control of my life and me!! “

Déjà vu Helen Keller once wrote: “The best and most beautiful things in life cannot be seen, not touched, but are felt in the heart.” I know that you have felt beautiful things in your heart, now and thirty six years ago. However, You are hiding, whirling within the shadows of your being, Afraid to reach out and see what you really need to be seeing. And …. You won’t know what you’ve had until it’s gone, My dearest friend your soul will soon tell you how I was the one…. You once said you’re not losing me again, That you’d found it good to hear my voice, You once said I’m never far from your thoughts, How often you missed me, all words of your choice. You said my words were close to your heart, That they made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. You once said you were amused and amazed by me, Upon my words, your heart appeared to glide. You found me funny, engaging, exciting, gorgeous, classy, Beautiful inside and out, a good and close friend. Crazy, entertaining, caring, loving, Spring Chicken extraordinaire! My image in your mind sending you into a daze, my friend, you had it all …. Right there!! “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

What more could you want from a woman? You often found yourself laughing too hard to respond. Does it still feel good to smile? Do you still enjoy a good ruffle every now and then? You said plenty of people out your way love me, You’re the only person I know out your way, so what am I supposed to believe? You hint at below the surface feelings Leaving me guessing and sending me reeling. You commented on my patience, The ease and pleasure with which we could talk. Your every word used to describe me is the true reality, Yet hesitant you remain to take that walk. You seldom engage me when questions I ask of you, Your silence speaks volumes In your refusal to be realistic, honest and true, Qualities that I thought I had honestly seen in you You once said that I could not get rid of you that easily, I replied that at my discretion that would be my decision. Now, you must listen, because that time has come, reality bends its’ knee before you. But please, do not make this a heart to heart collision. Love? What is love that commands this hold? It is attraction of the heart, the soul, and the mind, Affection, friendship, that special jewel of the heart that is one of a kind! Not teenagers inflamed with passion and out of control, Mature now, penetrating the depths of every fibre of spirit and soul.

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

Vibrant and haunting, real …. Never daunting, Pulsating and careening through arteries and veins. Pleading …. To relinquish the hold on its’ owners taught reins. A timeless, precious encounter, engraved, branded upon the heart, Moments forever lost, swept away on the ripples of the tide, Beauty fathomless, beckoning, alive, yet kept apart. Turned away, inconceivable and so it must hide. To never be yours? …. For you can never say when, And so I’ve found you and lost you once again. For a second time you’ve drawn the line in the sand, Unable to embrace and hold my heart in your hand. You once asked of me, “Is everything OK?” When I turned and reached out to you, a friend in need of your listening ear, You responded in cold silence …. I bowed and gave way to fear. Why? Because your commitments would not allow you to hear. Therein lies the answer to something so precious and remarkable, that can never be. Something that has happened twice in a life time …. Something you just cannot allow yourself to freely see. Your voice drowned her in the whispers of time, Your soul mate has flickered in the light of your face, Yet to touch her, to hold and embrace her, Your fingers her soul just could not trace. She realised how much she’s truly loved you her whole incredible life, Had you asked her ago, in the aeons of time “please become my wife,,,” She would readily have been only thine. “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

She never thought she had anymore to give, In joy and laughter, life and love, Well prepared just to live and let live. But you maneuvered the door open, pure and gentle just like a dove. And so the time has come my dear and beloved friend, To bring our renewed friendship to its’ final end. Your photo that I had out on display, Must now lie hidden, perhaps? To re-surface on some distant day. Out of respect for you and respect for me, My heart must again say goodbye to thee….. Another time, another place, another day …. Oh my love, that you’d never given up when once we walked that beautiful way. At this time I thought I could keep you in my life, Just great friends, no heartache, no strife. But you have moved and overturned mountains within the crevasses of my soul, Unintentional, believe me, that was never my goal. For I want more that can never be had, You understand this …. That much I truly know. So please my kind and wonderful friend, do not be sad, Please just set me free and let me go ….. ‘Tis much harder parting from you a second time, The wound is open, deep, heavily bleeding, the pain is rugged and raw. For all the yearning and desire will not make you mine. And so my friend I must leave you …. Walking away from my door.

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

Do not look back unless you truly want what lies behind, If not, go forward and do not cause yourself strife. For it will surely be difficult to erase me from your mind. Just move ahead as I know you will, with your strange, very predictable life. Or, You must let go of all in time that you’ve held on to, Harder, and perhaps not what your heart really wants to do? So thank you for what little we’ve shared this time around, I will always treasure …. And remember …. What I thought I had found …. As per the words of a song: “Flames to dust, lovers to friends, why do all good things come to an end?” Goodbye my strong handsome ghost from the echoes of the past…………………

Ice Formations Ice formations on a barren shoreline Encapsulated decayed foliage Embodied in new creation Sunlight softly touches the pinnacles Glistening transparency evoked Life before and after Ice fingers will eventually be subdued By the warmth of incoming suns’ rays As the earth draws closer in proximity To the great solar sun God Smooth and cold Staunch and stately The winds blow as the ice melts into nothing Nothing but water returning to its womb We stand and stare We watch and glean We wonder the power of unseen forces At play swirling around and through us We marvel at the precision and accuracy Of the creators works of art Diverse, unique, colourful and beautiful Wild and rugged Windswept and stately Tapestries of patchwork fields Water lilies lazily drift afloat an unseen world How vast and undiscovered How far can His ways be searched out? The Lighthouse Revealed The lighthouse she hails to ships that draw near, From far away or across the lake, Beware my foundation; of the rocks stand clear! For one foul strike and your ship I will take! A beacon of light you at once think, Tall and stately, impregnable and secure. Or a seductress with charm that captivates in a blink. Come hither you sailors experience my allure! With a light as my lure and not a chime, I care not who approaches my helm at the tip of the land. I’ve stood through storms and spanned centuries of time, For wrecks I search to collect in my hand! Or, feel thee the light that warns of due danger, Turn your ship about and head straight for deep waters. Will you pay heed and remain my stranger? You carry a cargo of rich treasure please: save your sons and daughters!

Reunion The sands of time blow effortlessly in the winds of change, Feelings run high, feelings run low, Powerful emotions over such a vast range. One life searching, reaching out Offering the branch and an olive leaf. Never giving up, never having doubt Changing the tide to love from grief. Welcome home to your sister sweet child From the shadows of life, where you hid and ran wild. Love and deep beauty erupt and shine To have witnessed this event, the blessing is mine!!

My Grandson David A precious pearl in value untold, David Vincent so precious and unique. My pride, my joy, my grandson behold, I believe his life’s works, the world will seek! Saucer like, striking blue eyes, Kindness envelops his tiny soul. “Pick me up! Hug me!” his young voice cries, “At once, sweet angel!” is always my goal. He loves his bricks, his cars and truck, He loves movies, he sings great tunes. He creates a masterpiece he has the knack, I love him immensely, I can’t wait To see him – please – real soon!

Encouragement in Faith The greatest power in the universe so high, Gives us strength and hope, he cannot lie. A precious Son, a gift for you and I, Stay strong for him and we need never die. Please – Do not feel useless or sorely lacking, You’ve achieved great success with our Gracious God’s backing. Don’t feel depressed, despondent or down, Keep smiling and laughing tis much better than a frown. You’re loved and treasured So warm and so true. With Christ like qualities Displayed by oh, so few. Your empathy strikes a tuneful chord, With view to uniting in one full accord. Dearest brother you are one so rare, Though at times our way of life seems so unfair, The hand of our Great God is there to care. So fear not He knows your heart, Let not worries and strife tear you apart. Continue to strive for His approval, For heartache and pain will be His removal! We’ve been down this road many times before, Trying hard to remain faithful without crossing the lines. You know Satan’s drill, you know the score. Yet between you and God stands an unbreakable door! “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

CATALYST POETRY by Mandy E. Robinson

You Can’t Make This Up Your sore back would relish my whirlpool magic So bring your towel and suit, to stay away would be oh so tragic. Brenda’s good intentions tempted me to action The heaven upon Rice Lake would defer any retraction. The scene was set, the ambience divine And then she added, “Would you also like a glass of wine?” I de robed and took the steps with the gentlest of ease Soft lights, tantalising aromas, mesmerising candles, frothing bubbles with so much to please. I sank slowly until my body was encased and my mind ecstatic My feet explored the satin like floor until it happened …. ‘twas quite emphatic. The water was quickly exiting like the stroke of a whip I beckoned Brenda, who rushed right in apologising for her husbands’ omission To earlier repair the plug for an easy transition. “I’ll be right back.” And she reappeared with a huge plastic container filled with sand Am I at a concert? Is this the band? I moved aside as she lowered it to rest a top the plug And now the ambience was feeling not so snug. Alas it bobbed up ‘twas clearly not a good solution Am I receiving some kind of divine retribution? “Keep your foot firm I have another idea” She left again as I began to fear. What could she possible bring to restore my calm Would it be something that could soothe like balm? You could not imagine in your wildest of dreams The additional contents that came to lay along the whirlpools seams. Are you alright with 3 heavy black cast iron frying pans “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

in your bath?” I looked aghast and began to laugh. “Relax enjoy I’ll go make supper” The frying pans worked but could I slow my racing heart to just a flutter? Sliding back under bubbles to rest my head on a cushion of air My mind observing what lay below me just right there! Beginning now to absorb the rising candle flames dancing high Amidst the branches of ivy leaves that caught my eye. Casting shadows aloft and all around Subservient noise, for there was no sound. Mesmerised, entranced I cannot deny But wait …. What …. Am I about fry? For a second or two in sheer disbelief I am unable to function Has my life reached the final and eternal junction? “Brenda!! “ I screamed in guttural panic She rushes in perhaps thinking this girls manic. The ivy has caught fire, consuming leaves, branches, tiles climbing higher and higher “Oh my gosh what do we do?” She searches for rescue, but from who? The flames lap and play and wildly devour To render ruin if this is our final hour. In my mind I hear please don’t use the bath water For I know that the chemicals will exacerbate the slaughter. Too late, she reaches in, cups her hands and without caution scoops and tosses the bath water up the wall of fire The straights we are in have now become much more dire. I stand up clothed and dripping with bubbles “Move aside,” she yells forcefully desiring to end our troubles. She grabbed a cast iron frying pan much to my amaze Raised above her head and smashing down atop each candle to choke the blaze. The smell of charred foliage, the sight of blackened walls Grey smoke exiting to consume the halls. Broken glass strewn everywhere “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

Still clothed in bubbles I’m all but bare. She opens a window, then passes me a towel We stare at each other shaken but alive and then with escaping pent up emotions, we just howl. Once the clean up is done We can admit that we’ve actually won. “I don’t suppose …. You’d like to continue your bath?” she looked down in shame How could I possibly now relax enjoy and convince my mind to re frame? Was this an event to cause regret? That ill fated day when yours truly got wet!

My Sister, In Her Memory For laughter and living, For sharing and giving. When the sun turned dark, She sang like a lark. A heart full of love That was sent from above, I loved, I laughed, I shared, I lived, I sang, I cared. My sister, my friend…… Special, right to the end……

Believe In The Good of Everything Everything is all encompassing, there are no holes. Everything is all around us, our environment. Everything is a stranger flowing into us, flowing away from us as they pass by. Everything is a song that is heard from an unknown voice, that stirs the mind and the soul. Everything is the creative nature of an artist as a piano becomes an owl, a fox, a raccoon. Everything is the handy work of an architect or a carpenter, a cathedral and a staircase. Everything is a smile…… a smile from our natural world every day, telling us all is well. Everything is life, is breathing is pulsating above us and below us. Everything is seen through the lens of the photographer capturing the pure essence of life. Everything is the conveniences we often take for granted, a vehicle, our freedom….. Everything is refreshing clean running water that replenishes the thirst of the soul. Everything is touch, taste, hearing, vision, smell that brings our world to life. Everything is the palette of rich colours and hues in a patchwork scene of fields. Everything is our most loyal, affectionate and unconditionally loving companion…. our dog. Everything is learning followed by wisdom, the application of the newly acquired knowledge. Everything is the innocence of children whose imaginations freely create great joy. Everything is movement, the endless motion of life, “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson

living… and breathing, all encompassing. Everything is the meaning behind words, the words of a poet, and author, the words of a mother to her child. Everything is happening for a reason, Everything, is knowing that we can never fail, we either win, or we learn. Everything is there for us to create a life we deserve. Everything is a promise of the goodness in front of us, and in our futures to come. Everything is an endless reminder of love, the basis of infinite wisdom. Everything is birth…. Each day bringing forth new life, new opportunities, new visions. Everything is an idea, a dream, passion with action. Everything is a friend calling to touch base and maybe go for coffee. Everything is a roof over your head, a meal on your table, funds to pay your bills. Everything is taking time for yourself to unwind, relaxing and self nurture. Everything is in your world is about the choices you make every second of every day. Everything is about sharing your love, your skills, kindness, your smile, your joy of life. Everything is accomplishment and a joyful satisfied countenance that comes from it. Everything is that first tea or coffee in the morning calming, soothing, refreshing, rejuvenating. Everything is a hug, a hand reaching out, a caring shoulder. Everything is being enveloped and steeped in silence, being at one with yourself. Everything is a refreshing, silky breeze on a hot humid day. Everything is being aware of and in tune with life as it happens all around you. Everything is good…. very, very, good…. Is giving…. Everything IS everything and much much more. “I light the way by leading the way” —Mandy E. Robinson
