JHS, SHS learning areas set MATATAG agenda in 2023 Academic Week

Tibag High School has recently initiated a week-long activity dubbed as ‘Academic Week’ which showcases some of the highlights of MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa and which focuses on establishing curriculum implementation relevant to produce competent and job-ready, active, and responsible citizens.

With the goal of transforming classroom competencies to career possibilities, the annual Academic Week in the different learning areas was participated by THSians on February 13-17, 2023

In accordance with School Memorandum No. 46 Series 2023 relative to DepEd Order No 34 Series 2022, head teachers and teachers-in-charge in the different learning acres led the planning of activities for the month of January and February including the Annual Academic Week.

THS’ iConnect to rescue reading gaps

To implement Tarlac City Schools Division’s Project RESCUE (Recovery and Engagement of Struggling Readers Through Curriculum Updates and Explicit Instruction), Tibag High School (THS) has started addressing the learning losses of students especially in reading and just recently, THS has skyrocketed its project iConnect, which aims to help students become better readers through various campus and off-campus literacy activities. school. She even elaborated that this project intends to level up the proficiency level of students in reading since it is a springboard for all their other academic activities.

“The project was first approved by the regional office in 2019, but since the pandemic has hit many sectors, including the education sector, it was not pushed through.” Benjamin S. Gaspar, Head Teacher I in English, said during the campus press briefing about the school’s PPAs. He also emphasized that the project secures learning reading beyond cognition and that the activities under the said project will help students become more confident in reading by including affective and social factors in teaching.

“Without the ability to read, one may fail in many things and for students, they may not continue in their studies. So we have thought about this project to support students’ recovery in learning because it has been two years since they were given proper curricular instruction” Romin added.

To assess graduating students’ performance and determine whether they are achieving the curriculum learning standards, Tibag High School Teaching staff led implementation of the National Achievement Test for Grade 12 students.

The said implementation is pursuant to the DepEd Memorandum No. 011 series 2023, which asked all schools operating senior high schools to conduct the said examination.

Meanwhile, an orientation was made with the supervision of THS Guidance Counselor, Ma’am Joanna Maninang. She stated that all details of the NAT were properly oriented to the students and facilitators to assure the readiness of the graduating students.

Moreover, the Grade 11 Tibag HS teachers facilitated the NAT in the different schools and only thirty (30) test takers were allowed to enter each testing room to ensure that health and safety measures will be applied.

SEAMEO Training for THS teachers highlights innovative education

20 THS teachers were chosen as division-scholars for an international webinar sponsored by NEAP SEAIETI and SEAMEO InoTe ch in February - May 2022.

Enclosed in the Division Memorandum no. 23 series of 2022 is the list of broad range of professional development programs and courses recognized by the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), Southeast Asian Institute of Educational Training, Inc. (SEAIETI), and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization –Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO - InoTech). Wherein, the participants were oriented of the commitment to the provisions of the NEAP-recognized Professional Development Contract.

All teachers signed and agreed upon finishing the designated courses.

The primary objective is to capacitate teachers into higher order thinking skills to adequately meet the challenges of the 21st century learners in a more systematic way which they can impart to students by embedding it in their daily lessons.

“The training gave a lot of innovative teaching strategies that are at par with international standards. The online revalida challenged me to integrate HOTS in the process of planning and implementing lessons that when incorporated in our school activities will surely benefit our students here in Tibag High School.”

As agreed upon on the contract, all teachers accomplished and claimed their NEAP Certified certificates.

September 14, 2022 – Regional Education Program Supervisor, Dr. Rosalinda Ibarra, congratulates Tibag High School for the ‘proper’ preparation of reports and for the actions taken to address the dilemmas during the implementation of the Regional Diagnostic Assessment (RDA).

Dr. Ibarra also emphasized some points to consider when implementing certain curriculum areas focusing on inclusive education, teaching reading, and lesson planning.

Implemented every Friday, this activity seeks to deliver reading instruction through collaboration and gamification. Reading teachers, together with the parents and other advisers, prepare simple breakfast for students to enjoy while learning.

With the goal of spreading awareness on the rights and protection of women, Tibag High School (THS) launched the 18 - day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW) on November 25, 2022.

A total of 2,649 studes participated in the said campaign. Students made support for the campaign during Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts encampment through essay writing and poster making contests.

Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban, the THS School Head, gave the details and her inspiring message to the scouters about the violence against women (VAW) campaign.

Math skills, financial literacy fused in THS SLM; Galang, Mangaco ranked 3rd in reg’l tilt

This was the statement of Ms. Jonah Micah M. Mangaco, a Math teacher who won 3rd place with Mr. Paul Anthony Galang in the Regional Search for the Best Integration of Financial Literacy Key Concepts in Science and Mathematics Through Self Learning Modules (SLM) on December 15, 2022.

Tibag High School has accomplished its educational ground breaking this school year as it implements the Alternative Learning System (ALS) for the first time.

During the parents’ and students’ orientation, Dr. Rene B. Miclat, Public Schools District Supervisor and Division Focal Person for ALS said that ALS is for the achievement of students’ dreams.

“Andito tayo para sa inyong mga pangarap. Ito ay daan ninyo para makatawid sa inyong mga pangarap. Ngunit, matutupad lamang ito kapag inyong ipinagdasal at kung kayo ay may gagawin.” Dr. Miclat emphasized.

The orientation was also graced by the Education Program Specialist in ALS of Tarlac City Schools Division, Mr. Ryan Lactaotao, who sparked the students’ motivation to learn as he discussed the pivotal provisions of ALS. “Sa ALS, may pag-asa. Tara na

sa ALS” wrapped up his talk.

Lactaotao mentored the school in implementing the program on September 2, 2022. Lactaotao emphasized that the Alternative Learning System is intended to give opportunities for students who cannot attend the formal schooling and that their unit is willing to back the school up for the challenges it may encounter during the implementation.

School Principal, Dr. Juvelyn Esteban, plans the program implementation and has initiated meetings for the crafting of the class program, number of teachers needed, teacher-parent coordination, and other related academic activities to make sure that THS can implement the ALS in full swing.

Tibag High School offers the Technical-Vocational Track –Information and Communications Strand as its pilot program that caters the out-of-school youth, non-school aged individuals, and students in specific contexts through its faculty headed by the ALS coordinator, Mr. Charlie F. Ocampo.

Tarlac Council Memorandum No. 9 series 2022, and GSP Tarlac Council Memorandum No. 4 series 2022, Tibag High School conducted a joint School-Based Scout Investiture and Backyard Camping on November 25, 2022 from 7:30 am – 5:00 pm with its aim of developing every scouter’s identity in terms of leadership and values.

At the onset of the program, the event was graced by Salve Y. Aguilar, the BSP Council Scout Executive to three hundred and fifty seven (357) BSP and GSP scouters from Grade 7 – 12. Participants stormed the school grounds of Tibag High School as they actively engaged themselves in different scouting activities prepared by the organizers.

Aside from the Zumbook Activity, THS released the report card of the students for the second quarter. The activity ended at 4:00 pm.

According to Lynneth Mariz Libued, the teacher-librarian, Zumbook activity was a successful event. The books donated were added to the accession record. She added that the donated books will be distributed to the reading-tambayan and reading hub in Barangay San Luis.

Mathdali to lessen the number of non-numerates

To target the advocacy of DepEd tagged as “No Child is Left Behind,” and due to the increased number of non-numerates this school year, MathDali, as one of the PPAs of the school, was initiated October last year and was intended to lessen the increased number of nonnumerates across key stage levels.

This MathDali intervention program is the response of the Math Department to address the issues on learning gaps among math learners. Math Department reflected in the results of the Regional Diagnostic Test and Students Profiling to know who will be diagnosed as nonnumerates.

Tutors were selected from performing and proficient classes that will be the teachers’ partners to help improve the skills of their fellow students. The pandemic becomes more difficult for learners to cope up with their math lessons.

As Tibag High School skyrockets another school year, its connection with the external stakeholders is strengthened through the establishment of the School Parent - Teacher Association.

September 16, 2022 - Tibag High School held its first School ParentTeacher Association’s election of officers and executive committee officers for the school year 2022-2023 based on DepEd Order no. 13 s. 2022 at the library from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. which is attended by Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban, head teachers of THS, and HPTA presidents of each class from grades 7-12.

THS officially welcomes the new set of SPTA officers for the school year 2022-2023 headed by the newly elected president, Irma Ignacio. The SPTA officers for the school year 2022-2023 vow to give their full support in any means for the sake of the school especially, of the students.

RRIF backs THS in feeding undernourished studes

Rise and Rebuild International Foundation (RRIF) supported Tibag High School as it continues to improve the nutritional status of the students through feeding programs.

Raymond Goodson, the founder of RRIF, together with his wife Debbie Goodson, selected Tibag High School to continue

To address learning gaps focusing on reading, arithmetic, and writing, Tibag High School launched its pilot projects dubbed as Project iConnect and Project TUTOR, which eye three to fiveyear sustainability.

Project TUTOR, facilitated by THS’ master teachers, aims to teach students the basic 3Rs during their free hours. Project iConnect, facilitated by the Filipino and English departments, focuses on reading beyond cognition.

The launching was graced by the Education Program Supervisors in Language, Dr. Reymar D. Paguio and Ma’am Rowena D. Tiamzon, the SPTA ExeCom, parents, and the barangay officials of the nearby LGUs.

“As long as we go hand-in-hand in making a difference for our students to learn how to read and how to compute, we will always make it through.” This was the statement of Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban, principal of Tibag High School, stated during the launching of project TUTOR, which supports the advocacy of DepEd Order #173 s. 2019, Project RESCUE, and Project AN.

The aim of this project is to lessen the number of non-readers and non-numerates from key stage 3-4 and which resulted from the various

pre-assessment mechanisms made by the school. Last October 3, 2022, tutors assessed tutees on writing and reading Filipino and English language. They also created preassessments to spot and address the difficulties of learners upon reading and writing.

Project Tutor was initiated by master teachers of THS due to the growth of non-comprehenders. Proponents will help conduct the activity to develop the numeracy and and improve the reading skills of learners.

To strengthen the tutor-tutee relationship, tutors created sessions

involving Grade 7 – 12 students. Master Teachers or facilitators helped learners to adapt the importance of reading along with writing. Due to the pandemic, some learners were affected with sickness. Along with it, issues and challenges of tutors were the absence of tutee’s, lacking the support of parents, guardians, and conflict schedules.

Project Tutors acted and made plans to solve conflicts such as reminding tutees on the date of tutoring, reminding the tutees’ parents every PLSS, and continuously looking for open schedules of tutees and tutors.

THS’ Project LOVE is expected to motivate learners to put values into good practice. If this project is properly implemented, relationships will improve, with people in the school valuing each other more universally, students gaining a better understanding of themselves and the world around them, In general, school becomes a more pleasant place to work and learn; reduction in stress, anxiety and pressures on mental health for teachers and students will be observed.

Alongside its launching ‘Search for a Super Kid’ returns. This aims to recognize deserving pupil who best exemplify positive values using the guidelines and mechanics set by the ESP.

It focuses on the Core Values: Makadiyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa, to be well understood and properly utilized in the students’ daily lives. It also helps teachers to better guide and teach students with proper discipline and right conduct.

With its battle cry, Tatak Tibag, May Disiplina, THS underscores the importance of Values Education, for it impacts behavior, relationships, learning environment, and personal well-being. Hence, leads to improvements in academic attainment.

THS sustains three-year practice in disaster preparation, partakes nationwide earthquake drill

Tibag High School has sustained its practice of preparing students and personnel for disasters such as earthquakes for three consecutive years, a report on learning recovery suggests.

In pursuant to the Division Memorandum 151 series of 2022, the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Team (SDRRM) of Tibag High School spearheaded by Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban and Michelle L. Teofilo led its first simultaneous earthquake drill on September 8, 2022 which was participated by

students and school personnel from the morning and afternoon shift as preparation for unforeseen calamities such as earthquake.

The abovementioned DepEd Memorandum otherwise known as the Conduct of the 2022 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake drill was strictly observed. The morning classes conducted the NSED at exactly 9:00 am while the afternoon classes conducted theirs at 3:00 pm.

Due to the pandemic, conventional requirements that involve physical interactions such as evacuation and mass gatherings were discouraged to implement stringent health protocols. Thus, upon hearing the ringing of the school bell, all participants stayed

inside their respective classrooms and offices and alertly performed the basic duck, cover, and hold operation. In addition, teachers highly encouraged students to practice preparedness with their families at home.

One student even mentioned how frightening recent ground shakings are. “Nakakatakot po lalo na yung nakaraang matagal na pag lindol na umabot sa ‘tin.”

Tibag High School is one with the Department of Education in honing the capabilities of its stakeholders in keeping themselves safe and in providing opportunities in educating the general public on the importance of disaster prevention. After all, safety is everybody’s responsibility.

During the pre-pandemic, illiteracy has been one of the major headachesourgovernmentistryingtocombat.Evenoninternationalbased assessments, many Filipino learners are struggling to meet the bare minimum required. There is no argument; this alarming situation of illiteracy must be addressed seriously.

The global health outbreak brought by the COVID-19 ambushed us of the chance for in-person classes resulting in distance education which was believed to have restrained learning. Hence, the comprehension of many students declined due to the lack of guidance in terms of lessons including basic reading.

Reading is undoubtedly one of the fundamental macro-skills every learner should master. This skill must encompass not just decoding, but also comprehending whatever material students read.

Meanwhile, the World Bank reported that 9 out of 10 Filipino children struggle with reading simple age-appropriate texts. It is estimated that 91 percent of kids in the Philippines are “not proficient in reading” which serves as a wake-up call for the government to intervene.

Now that classes have finally gone back to normal, everyone has the hope of at least narrowing down the reading gap which stalled many skills that could’ve been learned over the years. All avenues to help students be equipped with literacy on reading, writing, and numeracy must be exhausted.

The government tries to remedy the concerns through different schoolbased interventions and recovery plans. Crafting of materials tailor-made from the needs assessment were produced by teachers which underwent quality assurance. Reports flood here and there for proper monitoring and evaluation, yet, saving students from reading deficiency is still hard to accomplish.

Looking at the bigger picture, literacy must always start at home. It’s one of the best solutions to close the reading gap. It is not necessary or required to be an education professional to help your child develop reading skills. Simply, spending time and teaching them is the best way in order for them to enhance their ability to read.

Thinking how little the world could be for students who are unable to read and comprehend is saddening. How hard must it be for them to communicate properly despite illiteracy and analphabetism.

As I see it, eliminating the pressing problem of reading comprehension and proficiency is a bit slow. When this won’t be resolved in due time, it might reflect the kind of system are leaders can only do. To accept or not, this is a big threat in our country – to not be able to invest much for human capital.

Promoting pride and a sense of belongingness – that’s what a school uniform signifies. Wearing a decent and neat uniform gives students the feeling of being part of an organisation. It increases self-esteem and selfconfidence.

Recently in Tibag High School,the administration and the Student-Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA), came up with a resolution to change the entire design of the school uniform due to the following reasons: to heighten security; plus, the color is too light and bright in daytime, it is prone to dirt and thin that it can be seen through.

Tibag High School, being preventive, believes that uniforms can increase students’ safety inside and outside of school. Outsiders may be avoided if its implementation is strictly imposed. Even though bullying commonly occurs in school and in the classroom, it still can appear elsewhere including playgrounds, hallways, and even the internet. In recent times, cyber bullying has increased tremendously because of devices which are now necessities in our generation. This mechanism has to stop as the self esteem of the victims will drop at a rapid speed which may even result to depression.

Bullying is a consistent prevailing issue among youngsters, thus, organizations suggest to maximize its prevention. Schools are the best launching pads to instill a sense of fairness and equality in general. Hence, solutions must be hammered.

Amplify guidance and counselling force, open communication to all stakeholders, capacitate teachers, leaders, and personnel on proper ways to deal with bullying. If old programs are not effective, then reforms must be considered. Make an action and take it seriously.

Young people these days have been using social media for too long. According to Pew Research Center, 97% of teens use the internet daily in which Youtube and Tiktok are the leading applications. While there are many advantages one can get using social media, these cannot outweigh the negative effects it can impart. If this continues, things will get worse and many problems will occur because of this addictive habit.

This has been a growing concern of all – to achieve a stable mental health. Failure to address, especially among the youth, may lead to impairment of other aspects that could deprive a person the opportunities to live a peaceful and normal life.

The World Health Organization and the Department of Health have been spreading awareness and promoting programs regarding this matter of concern. Yearly, the percentage

of people with mental health concerns keeps rising especially among adolescents whose age ranges between 10-19.

Hence, as a student, I strongly believe that mental health should be a priority in order for us to function well. Life lately brings a lot of stress especially when the pandemic ambushes us with the chance to attend face-to-face classes.

Many students are glad to be back in school because in August 22, 2022, DepEd proclaimed to open the schools for in-person classes. Some, however, are still not ready to attend the new normal face-to-face classes.

Many of us changed behaviorally because of the trauma that the pandemic had caused; our mentality and perception changed too. The way we think before is beyond different from now. Some have matured because of staying inside their houses with lesser chances of going out. On the other hand, some failed to learn their lessons and academically declined.

The announcement on the intentions of mandating the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps’ garnered different reactions from the public especially among youths. Many have raised their eyebrows on this matter of concern without even dissecting its purpose and intention. However, is having good intentions enough to mandate, and force students to attend the ROTC? The program has a lot of real-life advantages to offer learners of today, provided that the government could arrange its guidelines equally for all.

President BongBong Marcos stated that the goal of this program is to enhance civic consciousness, encourage, organize, and mobilize students for disaster preparedness and capacity building for risk-related scenarios as part of national defense preparation.

It can be recalled that in the year 2002, military training was made optional through Republic Act No. 9163 otherwise known as the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 . Nevertheless, this was abolished because of different allegations on corruption. Surveys showed that many Filipinos agreed on the return of the program since many have noticed how youngsters these days are becoming very aggressive and unproductive. According to pro-ROTC, this could inculcate values and hammer discipline among today’s generation.

With the number of supporters and oppositionists on this issue, up till now there is no concrete answer as to its conscription. However, recently, with the rampant news on hazing and power tripping among youth officers, the senate once again scrutinized the question as to whether ROTC must be mandated. Another point of concern is if this must be required in tertiary only or even secondary.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, one of the senators who filed the bill on the restoration of the compulsory ROTC in the country, has withdrawn some parts such as the mandate for senior high school because there is a need to recover learning first brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many agreed on this provision including Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa claimed that they would be able to support the ROTC program because it is one of the priorities of the Marcos administration.

On the other hand, senate minority leader Sen. Aquilino Pimentel asked the group to scrap the bill and make it only optional. Only students who are military inclined must be enrolled on the program. This claim was backed up by Sen. Riza Hontiveros who cited previous hazings as examples. “Violence of any kind has no place in our schools and universities,” she said.

Others presented the options of giving students the freewill to select among the three NSTP components: Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC), the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and the Literacy Training Service (LTS). According to some students, they must not be forced to enroll in components they’re not happy and interested with. “There is too much already on our plate; adding more will not help especially in this period of recovering learning.” says an interviewee.

In making the decision as to whether to mandate ROTC or not, we trust that the government and the current administration will always put students and situations into consideration. May their upcoming decision be for the betterment of the Filipino people.

Education is known as a stepping stone; it gives hope for everyone as it may serve as a vessel to the future they dreamed of, but because of the K–12 program, a lot of issues arose. Most of the comments about the program are negative case studies for kindergarten, and 12 refers to the succeeding 12 years of basic education, which is why it is called K–12. As a product of the K-12 curriculum, I must say it has its pros and cons. I understand that two more years added is crucial, but changing the curriculum could be beneficial.

Some of the reasons why many people disagree with the K–12 program are the following:

Those which could help when we meet the real-world of work such as expanding financial education to improve literacy and responsibilities of the learners, teachers, and personnel, which will enable them to acquire financial health and financial inclusion; furthermore, financial education is beneficial in developing a financially literate citizenry, empowering them to make wise financial decisions. Curriculum makers may also underscore the need for agriculture. Since we are primarily an agricultural country.

College is a privilege – not everyone can afford; thus, if the K-12 curriculum is anchored on tracks that will give more realistic results, many students could learn and survive life ahead.

Dear The Fortress Editor,

We are now in the middle of the school year. After the tough battle we have been through with the pandemic, we are now here, again, fighting. Many students have mediocre academic performance this year not because they have no interest in learning, but because they are afraid of interacting with people. The two years of being alone during distance learning has affected the students deeply. They got scared of socializing. Being out of their comfort zone made them fear many things. The exact fear that hinders them from learning.

After two years of distance learning due to the pandemic, we, students, find ourselves in a state that we enjoy being alone and do not like being around people that much. The global health crisis has prompted us to be anxious most of the time. It doubled our worries and often, emotions are mixed-up. I, personally, somehow got used to studying alone. Now that we return to our normal state, I am still adjusting. Being so agitated with the thought of socializing has a major effect with students’ performance in school.

So, how will you make students realize that socializing is not something to be afraid of? – that socializing and coordinating with fellow students and adults inside the school is something we need as we grow and develop? If you could share some words, what advice would you give for us to enjoy the rest of the school year?

We, The Fortress campus journalists, at times feel the same way you do. However, as we embark on another year, it is our hope that this crisis will encourage all of us to look forward with a positive outlook and growth mindset – to find inspiration in the experiences and challenges we’ve shared these past few years,to greet each new day celebrating small wins for the new skills we’ve learned, the new ideas we’ve embraced, and the new circle of friends we’ve made along our way. Each one has an unforgettable experience throughout the pandemic which is a nightmare to some if considered, especially the youth and even those who are still affected by it.

All aspects of our well-being have been shaken, and our mental health is no exception. Our stability is very important not just during the outbreak, but more so this post pandemic era. The Department of Education conducts several mandatory face-to-face implementations concerning our welfare, and guidance counselling nationwide both in private and in public schools.

Though the pandemic era has not fully come to an end,Deped makes sure that students are safe as we return for in-person classes. Fear is something unavoidable, but when we try to cope with certain adjustments, we will surely conquer.

As an individual,I agree with you. Due to all the extra stress, loneliness and anxiety the pandemic has pounded in our lives, our mental health has been disturbed. Thus, I know that resocializing is never an easy thing. It takes courage, time, and process to learn and relearn this skill. Put in mind the aphorism: “No man is an island.” We, in The Fortress, believe that each one of us is interdependent with one another – that we cannot live and survive this complicated world alone. We need to learn how to give love and support, so that we shall receive the same thing we give the world.

We need to start closing the distance and build more relationships because if we keep on isolating ourselves, how will we overcome this pandemic fatigue? To concretize a solution, I advise you to start by making friends inside the classroom, participate in group tasks, assume a role to fulfill,be open, speak your mind – COMMUNICATE. Gradually you’ll conquer your fears. You don’t have to take a big leap immediately – it can always be one step at a time and one day at a time in improving your mental welfare.

My fellow students, this in-person classes and resocialization that many of us are afraid of is an avenue for us to regain our self-esteem. Getting there is hard work; so is any good thing in life, but remember that the harder it is, the more it becomes valuable. May you not let the fears you feel today robbed your youth of worthwhile experiences in school. Savor every moment; take heart.

The debate on banning violent video games has been circulating for many years even up to date. Several studies suggest that spikes in violent video games’ popularity are well-known to correlate with an enormous decline in youth violence – not increases. However, some findings state violence in video games does increase aggressive behavior in most situations, but the effects are almost always quite small. As someone who plays video games, they key is to always be responsible enough and keep everything in moderation. A person’s future can be altered by video games — either changing it for the better or for worse. Despite the harm that violence may cause, these games still teach a lot of useful skills. Banning these would negate all the advantageous effects that they might offer. Video games with violence are advantageous for players due to the abilities that are taught, including quick thinking, quick analysis, and awareness of the environment. One’s reflexes get better playing these games. The expertise that are offered in this category of games are necessary for

education too.

These abilities may be utilized widely, most especially in the field of education. The usage of these games as a teaching tool may be for amusement and therapeutic that may release chronic stress. It might be used to temporarily escape reality to help us pause and overcome whatever difficulties we may encounter. It is a method for letting go of feelings to feel better. Some people could argue that watching these violent games could make people more aggressive and lead to clashes peers. Furthermore, some might argue that addiction would cause athletes to perform poorly in school, but we may avoid these undesirable effects by way of direction and proper monitoring. Not all video games are violent and damaging to us. With the right guidance, it is an amazing learning tool. Igaze at the newly painted stage of my second home, Tibag High School. The joy in my heart keeps on overpowering my entire being as I look around. Tibag High School became my truest companion since I enrolled in the institution where discipline and excellence reside. My dreams were ignited because of the heartwarming testimonies of people beyond recognition. The curves of happiness are evident as I witness how the stars collide when awarding on stage comes. Few months from now, I’ll be leaving the abode that taught me how to be a radiant star of my own universe. Here are the snippets and proofs of Tatak Tibag, beyond portals and behind curtains.

GAME CHANGERS: EXTRAORDINARY CLASSROOM STRATEGIES OF BEST DEMONSTRATION TEACHERS

The veins in my heart shouted for astonishment when I heard the announcement in the flag ceremony. Our motherly public servant, Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban uttered these words.

Focusing on innovating education, Mr. Monsour Balmes, Junior High School Science teacher and Ms. Mariechris M. David, Senior High School English teacher were hailed as the best demonstration teachers in the division of Tarlac City during the Division Demo Festival as part of the Education Week per Proclamation No. 2399, s. of 1985.

I am their product now and I am beyond grateful because they saw the potential in my system.

could testify that these educators do not just teach from the book, but from their purest hearts. They are the builders of future professionals such as future scientists and English speakers. Their voices serve as music to my ears whenever I learn from them. They wear smiles everyday that show kindness and willingness to share their knowledge and skills to every THSian.

Mr. Balmes shared his gratitude from the mentors of education. “It is an honor for me to be chosen as a representative. I was pleased with the outcome of my demo, especially because I was able to demonstrate to the kids their potential to become scientists in the future.”

Their classrooms are avenues of endless hopes and dreams. If there are struggling students, they always rescue them not only during the demonstration teaching but also during their day-to-day teaching. They are the light for every student who wants to succeed in the traverse of studying. Inside the classroom and minds of the demo teachers, great passion is evident.

“Teaching is really an endless process. Let us be open as we discover more strategies for the improvement of the learners. Let us always think, para sa bata, para sa bayan.” Ms. David shared these words of dedication to the teaching profession. I gave my resounding applause coupled with the undying dream to be like them someday.

After the flag ceremony, I have realized that life in this school has clear vision beyond the bulletin boards and chalkboard. I read in the tarpaulin additional awards of my second home.

They are shining like diamonds in the eyes of every student. Beyond the portals and behind the curtains of Tibag High School, there are bringers of hope and dreams who make a difference

in the lives of the learners. They serve as gifts to all the students who want to learn to fortify their future. The alluring dust of chalk covers their hands as a sign of their wisdom and knowledge to the young hearts with multitude of learnings.

I greatly thirst for learning. I constantly communicate with the two gems of Tibag High School for I assure detail of our activities in class. I will never forget what Dr. Alejandro Lingat said, “My inspiration is my love and passion in teaching, because if you have passion and love in what you do are doing, you can be the best part of yourself to become an outstanding employee in your workplace”.

I kept on searching for wisdom whenever I erased the writings on the board. I discovered another inspiring teacher, Sir Harvey Tabamo. He shared details of his teaching universe. “I only found out about PRAISE last school year when some of my colleagues and friends bagged the awards. Back then I told myself that maybe I can get one too in the future”. I whispered to myself, “We all have the opportunity to become the better version of ourselves”.

Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of. They inspired me to embrace my education. Their big and small achievements for a half decade in the service prepared them to bag the awards. They are great people because of the excellent skills they have, a talent for everyone, and the decisions they make. While leaving the wisdom of the chalkboard, my shoes produced echoing sounds of a lifetime. In the midst of the classroom crowd, I imagine clear shadows of success. I am motivated to move forward for my future process of diamond making.

When Tibag High School implemented it’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) program on September 22, 2022, individuals like Evelyn Ibarra saw another opportunity to pursue her dreams left in the outside world. Life in this world is like riding a rollercoaster. Sometimes, you are lifted on the top, and sometimes dragged down. But is it too late to act now? However, let me ask you. If you stopped and you are not young anymore to go with the flow, what will you do?

“Where there is life, there is hope.” It’s not about her age, who’s 42 already, it’s about her dedication that someday she’ll have the bachelor’s degree that she had been dreaming of. Alternative Learning System (ALS) in Tibag High School became a door not just for Evelyn but also for Jeanneth Sulte, a 39 years old and Deo Navarro, a 26 years old. Education is endless, making it priceless.

Evelyn is a hero of dedication and persistence. Due to her family problems, she dropped her 3rd year class in high school. She saw a light that can lead her to continue what she left during her early age. At this age, no one can stop her. Through thick and thin, she has a supportive family, husband, and friends who are there to tell her that there is nothing that she cannot achieve despite her age. RARE GEM IN A CHAOTIC WORLD

I went back to my room when my friends suddenly burst into happiness upon watching a Tiktok video. I was curious because their ecstasy is influential. I heard my idol.

“Kapag ako nagkaroon, tutulong din ako,” my idol always tells these words whenever he mentions about his alma mater, Tibag High School. His heartwarming generosity never ends.

Have you experienced going through the memory lane? I love going back to the past where my mind becomes nostalgic with the grains of my universe - with who I am as a person who admires an alumni. His experiences instantly provide lifechanging perspectives when I click the heart button of my tiktok app. I was on cloud nine when I heard his goals in helping other people. Indeed, in the lens of kindhearted people, these experiences captivated my heart and determination to do good for everyone. Am I going to do the same when I reach my goal?

“I feel the urge to donate in Tibag High School since nung Grade-7 ako, kasi naranasan ko po one time ang walang baon tapos pinakain po ako sa Model Home.” He uttered these words with the extreme desire to extend his blessings to the needy. With the generation where I completely belong, he is a young entrepreneur on TikTok, a former student of Tibag High School, he is the kind hearted angel/influencer, Jaymark Escaño.

As I scroll through my tiktkok app, I was inspired by his mirror of traits in the tempered glass of my not-so-updated gadget. He is a person

with a good heart who constantly looks for ways to help others. His compassionate heart never gets tired in pursuing kindness in this cruel world. People with good hearts are like rare gems that are difficult to find in this chaotic world. Like a rare gem, these people truly have radiant kindness and love. His intentions began with small things which now grew into a big passion, a passion for helping other people.

He reminded me of these grains of motivation for me to keep going like him, “I learned that no matter how difficult studying can be, never lose hope and always set a goal.”

Jaymark uttered. As I work towards my goals, he became my motivation to graduate in my alma mater with legacy. I will never be exhausted with the struggles for I know they will produce gems in my entire being.

My tears covered my cheeks when I had the chance to have a picture with my idol. His spectacular experience led him to a brighter future. He used his past as motivation to move forward and exhibited bravery and generosity. How about you, are you inspired by his story and aspire to be like him?

My last year in Senior High School was like a roller coaster. It has loopholes and turns of success and challenges. While walking in the corridors of the SHS building, I read the diary of Joshua Navarro, 12-Neuman who is an expert in sign language.

Dear diary, I thirst for the sound waves towards my system. I thirst for the vibration of my vocal chords to express my innermost thoughts to my classmates. These are just some of the deep longings of my heart. Born speech and hearing impaired, I wanted to embrace the world despite what happened to me.

I put my thoughts on the blank page of my thick yellow paper. The yellow paper reminds me of the vast world I will

take in after my Senior High School journey. I inculcated in my mind that my ambition does not die just because I am deaf and mute. My desire to be an IT programmer is louder than all the screams of the universe. I can’t speak, but can you hear my heartbeat? It pumps like an ICU revival equipment to reach the end of my pulse and veins.

As I walk towards my dream, a comrade named Fritz Alvarez became my companion. He guides me in the difficulties of the face to face classes. I am an ordinary teenager who still chose to be in school despite the hindrance of my disability. My heart is wounded due to the cruelties of verbal communication but this does not create bruises in my determination to achieve the dream that I am aiming for.

I can’t speak but I can SEE the beauty of education. I can’t hear but I can READ the letters of my aspiration. I can’t sing but I can WRITE the blueprint of my future. I was born with the gifts of can’t but I want to live the world to discover what I can for my bright and golden future. I can’t speak, but did you hear the pulses of my heart? As I grew up, I deeply understood the purpose of life. It has endless desires to be perfect but the air that I breathe to study reminds me of the beauty of choosing to learn despite being impaired in my hearing and speech. I could only stare at her coffin as I reminisced about her life-changing story. Her eyes could bring so much joy when she smiles at the students of Tibag High School. The glow and curves of her lips do not fade even though she is tired. I won’t

forget you, Ma’am Leonila Balbuena, our “Mamita.” I miss the food that you cook in our canteen. Life is full of surprises. No one can tell how long we will be in this life adventure. Ma’am Leonila Valbuena served as the Canteen Manager in Tibag High School for more than a decade in the service. She left sweet memories in the hearts of the students. Providing the best for the learners in the school was the scream of Mamita’s heart. With this quality, she is not just a Canteen Manager, but an Outstanding Canteen Manager of Tibag High School. She has been the heart of Tibag High School. Because of her management, learners had never been experienced to starve. The canteen was always open and ready to serve them. Life is unpredictable. We will never know how long we can travel on this journey. We will never know what tomorrow may bring. Mamita, as we used to call her, found her happiness in this journey. She is indeed a motherly Canteen Manager. As I bid goodbye looking at her coffin, I embraced her in my mind, saying, “Mamita, you are a great public servant not just in the eyes of the students, but in the eyes of God.” My grief covers the veins of my body as I continue singing the lyrics of my favorite song.

First Brush Technique: Palette of

In a world where staying negative is the most crucial thing in this chaotic world, a positivity of creativity emerges in the mind of an artist. The first brush technique was scattered in my four corners. I am alive throughout the journey of Sir Edsel Natividad, Master Teacher I in Tibag High School.

I am a product of a broad palette of emotional tones. “When I paint, it gives balance to my life.” Upon uttering

these words, the majestic world of Sir Edsel’s ideas became my reasons to be publicized during an art fair in Diwa ng Tarlac last October 3. With the infinite beauty of a 100cm by 140cm acrylic on canvas, Sir Edsel’s creativeconsciousness revolves in painting objects which serve as his outlet of work-life balance.

Second Brush Technique: Gallery of Imagination I suddenly realized that without his extraordinary expression of brave soul and imagination, I won’t be seen by many eyes. Every stroke of his brush represents a chapter in his life. The visual worlds on the canvas of his paintings are beyond the mixed colors of canvas. Because of this masterpiece, everything became positive and possible. The creative voices of his mind remind him to escape the cruelties of life.

Third Brush Technique: Sketch of Thousand Words and Courage

At the stroke of his brush, colors of dreams and realities are unleashed in my rough surface. I witness how he breathes through the process of art so that bright positivity will emerge from this negative chaotic world. Sir Edsel’s showcase of paintings truly depicts his personality as an educator and artist. Each stroke sketches a thousand words and courage. The legacy of his art is engraved to me. The acrylic on canvas is now filled with hues of optimism despite the dust of everyday life. My name is Stag, the canvas in one of the great masterpieces of Sir Edsel.

The ultraviolet (UV) radiation released by the welding arc struck my eyes as I walked in the pathway of our school.

Whenever I see the welder’s flash of the Grade 12 students, I could vividly recall the luminous angle of my dreams – that is to be a proficient reader. I can’t help but to wonder about the vast knowledge that I can gain when I offer my entire system in the world of reading.

As I gazed at the class schedules, my naked eyes made me realize the importance of their superpowers in their skills. The Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) strand of the Tibag High School is one of the strands under Technical Vocational Livelihood Track. Tibag High School

is a village of solidarity thus the prolific Reading Tambayan initiated by the School Parent Teacher Association (SPTA) became my hope to achieve my dreams.

I continued opening the infinite pages of my fiction book. The arc eye of the welders encouraged me not to be drowned by the pandemic. My entire veins are grateful beyond words with the Zumbook Activity because I have my book now. I went to the gazebo and meditated on some nerve-wrecking intrapersonal thoughts. Why does reading seem to be luminous? Why do people enjoy opening a book and staying inside of a chapter?

I kept on searching for the answers whenever I sat on the comfortable metal of the gazebo. I told myself, “Hey, young reader. It seems to be boring sometimes, but just like many bookworms, choose

to enter inside a book for creatures of imagination.” This is the way they feel the sensation when it comes upon learning by reading. What is ironic about it is they enjoy their own space without needing to be with any company. They accompany their own selves by being alone, busy reading. There are several activities to enhance your vocabulary but this is surely included and helps a lot.

I stood and went to my sanctuary of knowledge. The welders gave life to the importance of reading. I now understand other things or people’s perceptions like in a novel, diary, story, newspapers or TV news. Plenty of students tend to avoid reading books or any reading materials for they think it is plain yet boring. It

might seem like it is not essential on a daily basis but through this, we can acknowledge many things to widen and strengthen our comprehension and vocabulary. Knowledge and skills we hold tight especially, when we start to read.

Life is not always a shiny metal which is bright and excellent. The painful flash may arise. There will always be an improvement in the aspects of reading such as pronunciation, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. It serves as a basic building block for learning. It is where our foundation is located when we open the door and start to learn new lessons. Because of the unwavering talents of the SMAW

students, they produced the spots where we can sit and relax while staying in our reading corners. I went back to the luminous area in our school. I am now a reader who gives emphasis to details. The ultraviolet radiation became my shield to focus on my own shelf to increase my perspective and knowledge. Solving the puzzle will make my life easy. Struggles are always with me in every situation. What my classmates see in the book cannot be recognized by my eyes and mind. Tibag High School is one of the selected recipients of the Rise and

founder and CEO, Raymond Goodson with other board of directors for the partnership. This will sustain the School-Based Feeding Program for 120 days to 52 undernourished students ages 13-16 years old.

Child malnutrition all over the globe is primarily caused by poverty, the World Bank confirmed. This refers to health

infections might result from it. In the Philippines, poverty rate alarmingly increased by 18.1% as cited from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) which was reported on August 20, 2022. Looking back on November 2013, the typhoon Haiyan devastated many lives in the Philippines. Hence, the Rise and Rebuild International Foundation

and malnourished Filipinos. The Adopt-a-School Program (ASP) implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) gave an opportunity to RRIF to help young Filipinos who suffer malnutrition. Through the efforts of Dr. Juvelyn L. Esteban, THS Principal, Ma’am Evangeline V. Espiritu, the TLE Head Teacher, and Ma’am Kenzie M. Ancheta, the School Nutrition Leader, stakeholders were tapped for the application process, and in return, THS is one of the selected school-recipients of the international foundation, Rise and Rebuild. Experts proved that malnutrition affects the learning ability of a student. It appears that students who are malnourished have the tendency to lack focus, which contributes to poor learning. The reason is very simple —food affects how our brain works, with that being said, a healthy meal is needed to help the brain function well. Thus, the RRIF willingly feeds more than 60,000 children daily from food harvested on their acquired lands in Cebu (15 acres), Leyte (16 acres), and Tarlac (14 acres).

As mandated in the signed Memorandum of Agreement, to successfully exhibit the feeding

vegetables, fruits, source of protein (when available), and desserts will come from the foundation which are supplied every Monday. Recipients are also encouraged to “go green” by giving them seedlings that they can plant at home while the feeding program is ongoing so that when the feeding program is over, they can have a source of nutrients ready to be harvested.

Meanwhile, Some of the projects of the RRIF are employment to many Filipinos, Restrooms, Nutrition Centers, vegetable farmlands and food supplies for undernourished. RRIF is indeed a private organization whose volunteerism and dedication to provide better quality learning for Filipinos are worth applauding. Various programs were being implemented by Tibag High School to ensure students’ wellbeing. Its School-based Feeding Program is only a glimpse of many outstanding solutions to assess quality learning. It is happy to see that both public and private sectors are working hand in hand to improve education for the Filipino children whose hands hold the future of our country.

(YES-O) conducted different activities in October to November 2022 to promote the conservation of the environment for future generations involving DepEd’s Makakalikasan Core Values and the Republic Act No. 9152 otherwise known as National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008.

To comply with the school’s project and activity initiated by the YES-O focal person, Ma’am Rosemarie Itum, in coordination with class officers, each section generously donated and planted vegetable plants for the THS Garden. Harvested from these can be used in the Feeding Program of the school. In addition, YES-O conducted clean-up drives,

training workshops, and useful projects such as drip irrigation that is used for the gulayan sa paaralan.

Yes-O administered activities and helped school caretakers monitor the plants given by the students. YES-O also emphasized that its aim is to share that the shade of trees can provide a useful barrier to harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Activities were initiated to promote a greener Tibag High School, and can help learners understand that making a simple act can lead to something bigger and more beautiful.

According to YES-O Officers, it’s not just the physical health that is promoted, our mental health also benefits when we are surrounded by trees or any nature-based activities. Furthermore, stress and depression levels can be reduced when we’re active.

With the COVID-19 concerns receding, wearing of face masks is no longer obligatory, rather optional after Pres. Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos issued an executive order allowing people to voluntarily use face masks especially on ventilated areas.

Days after the mandate, The Department of Education consulted the Department of Health and backed the decision of PBBM on the liberalization of wearing face masks even among students provided that schools still implement minimum public health standards relevant to the COVID-19 to safeguard the learners especially on indoor activities.

Tibag High School is one of the schools that still require face masks while entering the school vicinity. Some students and staff complain about the continuous wearing of face masks due to the inconvenience it brings especially while inside the classrooms; while some, favors the policy because masking has become their identity – they feel safe and committed to protect the most vulnerable like unvaccinated fellow, people with comorbidities, and those who are in the old age.

In addition, Senator.Bong Go, chairman of the Senate committee on health urged the public,

especially students, to still wear a mask for protection as the virus recedes, but still remains. Other parents also encourage their children to keep their masks on whenever leaving home for their safety.

Some may not be aware, but the EO still requires facemasks to be worn indoor, private or public establishments, including public transportation by land, air or sea and in outdoor settings where physical distance cannot be maintained.

Although it is optional to wear a mask we should not be complacent because the COVID-19 virus still remains in our country. As a student, we can help stop the spread of the virus by simply wearing facemasks and following the guidelines of our school and community.

The pandemic reshaped our lives and affected us in many ways we never imagined. Wearing a facemask does not restrict us from freedom;rather, it helps us regain our freedom by reducing virus transmission. Applying stringent precautionary measures such as handwashing, wearing of face masks, and physical distancing could go an extra mile in protecting ourselves and others, too. After all, prevention is always better than cure.

The price of electricity is getting higher in the Philippines because of its unstable source. Filipinos are badly affected by the continuous electricity price hike since it is essential in our daily lives.

On the other side, people are starting to use various ways to have access to sustainable energy. In the city of Tarlac, a team of experts dedicated their time and effort to utilize their knowledge in Science and Technology. They had created hope for the Filipinos which includes the Tarlaqueños’ in achieving a source of electricity — a solar-powered generator that is costefficient.

After its successful pilot test in 2017, the project commenced in February 2021 which was then completed in November 2022. TSU and the Department of Science and Technology’s Regional Office III handed over two solar-powered or electric utility vehicles to the DOST Central Office on December 12, 2022. The project was led by Prof. Rodel T. Botio and Vice-President for Research Extension Services, Dr. Murphy P. Mohammed as the co-project leader who developed eleven electric utility cars which was sponsored with 2.3 million pesos in DOST III and 1.3 million pesos in TSU funds. Other units will soon be handed to the DOST Tarlac and DOST Nueva Ecija.

of the families who were the chosen trial participants. The generator was designed to operate even in cloudy weather because of its solar tracking mechanism that can orient the direction of panels towards sunlight, so even when the sun is playing hide and seek, there’s nothing to worry about.

The TSU Solar Resource team also developed an integrated solar water pump where it became a great help for local farmers because it can provide water for up to five hectares with zero cost of electricity. The solar charging system that was created by their team was able to provide electricity for the solar water pumps and even for the solar generators.

According to Prof. Botio, the project is already in its fifth year, and they are currently at phase 3 called Techno Demonstration and Commercialization. Through this phase, sustainable technology will be promoted in Tarlac.

Tibag high school won the Best Nursery/Crop Museum in EGPP “Gulayan para sa sa Aktibong Magaaral” on December 15, 2022 at Kaisa Hall Tarlac City Plazuela.

On October 24-28 was the Division Validation and Evaluation Elementary and IS category, November 9 was the announcement of Division Winners.

Winners will represent the Division in the regional contest on November 14-25 while special awards were given to deserving schools.

while December 15, 2022, was the awarding of Regional Winners.

The school implementers were given the criteria for the contest and were given a month to improve their school gardens.

The Technology and Livelihood Education department collaborated in improving the school garden under the leadership of Ma’am Evangeline V. Espiritu, HT I department and Sir Jonathan Paul L. Briones, Master Teacher I.

The biggest point in the criteria is for the vegetables planted. That’s why Sir Wenzlee Laus, GSP focal person planted different varieties of plants under the GO, GROW, and GLOW type of veggies with the help of Grade 9 & 10 Agricultural Crop

THS moves to facial recognition biometrics

To guarantee efficient and effective monitoring of attendance, Tibag High School ended the use of log book for their daily time record. THS is now utilizing the Facial Recognition Biometrics that was pilot tested in January 31, 2023 and officially implements its full use in February 1, 2023.

F.R.B. is an automatic device that can record the daily time. The primary reason for strict biometrics is for personnel, teaching and non-teaching staff, to continuously provide prompt and responsive services to all its clients. All

employees are required to render their service for 8 hours a day, and 5 days a week which results in a total of (at least) 40 hours per week. Every school day, THS Personnel use the FRB four (4 ) times: Upon arrival (log-in), during lunch break (break-out and breakin), and upon departure from the office (log out). A designated time depending on the shift is mandated. From the use of fingers to now use of facial recognition as biometrics is indeed innovative in guaranteeing efficiency and security. Thanks to the development of deep learning techniques, notable advancements have been accomplished and experienced.

As a society, we recognize the importance of sports in the lives of our students holistically. It provides numerous benefits, including physical fitness, leadership skills, teamwork, and self-discipline. However, we must also recognize that academics should remain the top priority for student-athletes. That is why it is crucial that studentathletes do not disrupt classes during sports competition and training.

As the new school year opens with in-person classes as its primary modality, the Department of Education reminded everyone of its stipulation in DepEd order 34 s. 2022 and DepEd order 09 series of 2005. Any school day spent outside the classroom is classified as a disruption. The reason is to remedy the learning deficiency brought by the 2-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. However, some points of argument were presented as to how can student-athletes can train while concentrating on their academics.

“Nakakapagod. Di po gaano makafocus, masakit sa katawan,” Lucky Elpidez, one of THS boxing players, shared on an interview.

While it is true that student-athletes are often under tremendous pressure to perform both on the field and in the classroom, it is essential that they receive the necessary support to balance both their academic and athletic responsibilities. This requires a collaborative effort between the school, coaches, teachers, and parents.

Student-athletes must understand that missing class is not an option. They should be encouraged to communicate with their teachers ahead of time and make arrangements to complete any missed work. Coaches should also be held accountable for ensuring that their athletes do not miss classes unnecessarily.

The benefits of participating in sports should not come at the expense of academic success. We need to ensure that student-athletes are given the support they need to excel both on the field and in the classroom. This means emphasizing the importance of education and ensuring that athletes are not disrupted from their studies.

It is important to note that participating in sports can enhance academic success. Studies have shown that students who participate in sports are more likely to graduate high school and attend college. However, this is only possible if we ensure that academics remain the top priority.

In conclusion, we need to ensure that student-athletes do not disrupt classes during sports competition and training. We need to prioritize academic success while also encouraging the many benefits of participating in sports to provide the necessary support and resources for student-athletes to excel both on and off the field.

A physical challenged student of Tibag High School , hidden by the name Angelo Castro, pursues and strives hard to reach and claim his goal. A journey that goes up and down, bounces like a basketball that’s round.

One of the students’ recent favorite players is Justin Brownlee, an American- Filipino basketball player who recently joined Gilas Pilipinas after being an import from the Development League of the National Basketball Association.

“Gusto ko din po si Brownlee ung sa Gilas Pilipinas kasi magaling syang mag lay-up.” Angelo excitedly shared.

It could be remembered that Brownlee made an impact after Gilas Pilipinas clinched the win stealing the ball out of Lebanon’s hands with his unstoppable moves during the FIBA Qualifying Tournament.

THS enthroned as the champion in Intesecondary Basketball 2023

Integrated School — Tibag High School enthroned for the championship after crushing Balibago Primero Integrated School as they joined forces and threw a bunch of impeccable moves and unbreakable defense during the Inter Secondary Sports Competition last February 28, 2023.

De Guzman with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists led the scoreboard for THS together with the constant assists and layups of his teammates.

The first quarter just started and THS executed BPIS after throwing 7 points in just a few minutes with Calimlim and Garcia’s on the mark layups and hard rock defense they ended the game with 19-16, THS on the lead.

The second quarter ran like a roller coaster game with the continuous changing of scores of both teams but THS out stood BPIS with their puzzled tactics, 35-32.

With Gonzales and Sagum’s infrangible off defense followed by Sagum’s last remarkable rebound BPIS failed to clutch the win for the third quarter, 46-44.

De Guzman and Castanedo set an 8-0 run for the final quarter with their unrivaled off defense BPIS’s points being thrown out after ending the game with 62-55.

“Team effort at diskarte sa loob kung paano sila gumalaw. Sumubok ako [sa mga players ko] kung sino ang may presence of mind. Sila lang ang ipinasok ko kahit na marami sa mga players ang may potensyal sa laro,” THS Basketball Coach G. Christopher Bryan Enriquez said.

“More practice, at saka kulang pa ang training dahil rush ang paghahandang ginawa para rito sa Intersecondary pero thank you kay Lord dahil binigay Niya sa Tibag ang kampeonato,” he added.

THS is qualified and entering the next game for the Tarlac City Athletic Meet this coming February 11 and is ready to clutch the win from Don Bosco Technical Institute.

Tibag High School — The boxing players of Tibag High School are currently having strenuous training preparation for Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA), from doing intense workouts to learning punching techniques they keep going until the gold medal finally lands on their hands.

Junior boxers are having an intensive training everyday and they are divided into two groups depending on their schedule for attending classes a.m shifts practice from 3p.m to 5p.m while p.m shifts practice from 8a.m to 10a.m after classes and a short break they will proceed on training also Saturday and Sunday is a whole day practice this is their everyday routine since February until April.

“Hindi ko naman sinasabi na ano pero nageexpect ako na maguuwi sila ng tatlong gold tiwala ako sa kanila, sa effort nila,” Coach Arnel said.

The match will be held on April 23 to 27 this year and as their coach said they are expected to clutch the win and claim the gold.
