BOOK REVIEW PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES Author: Susanna Isern From the reader report by: Silke Kleemann This picture book tells a simple yet very catchy story. By way of the experiences of the cricket, children are enabled to easily comprehend why it is important to be able to putting oneself in other people´s shoes and to take their problems seriously, although from one´s own point of view one does not consider them to be really dramatic. It is a particularly successful idea that finally the insect lovers, to help the cricket with fixing the violin, make use of precisely those things which previously were a problem for them: now, the fishing line, the clothes line and a piece of the spider´s silk thread serve as strings. The illustrations are very colourful, full of details, and their colours are beautifully nuanced, which gives the book a very easy and happy touch, which I believe to be well suitable for conveying an important topic in a friendly, playful way. Thus, I am glad to recommend the book for being translated into the German language.
