BOOK REVIEW LEGENDARY ROBBERIES Author: Soledad Romero | Julio Antonio Blasco From the reader report by: Ursula Bachhausen True Crime is currently the fashion. And not only adults are interested in real criminal cases and their solutions. By Robos de leyenda, Soledad Romero Mariño and Julio Antonio Blasco make this trendy topic even a topic for non-fiction books for children. […] In a both attractive and informative way the authors shed light on a total of nine interesting criminal cases. In this context, the planning and realisation of these non-violent yet sophisticated crimes are told in as much detail as the investigations by the police, the each respective trials and the further fates of the perpetrators. Indirectly, the reader is told much about the time and the social circumstances under which each respective robbery was happening. […] Precisely the many details may be supposed to inspire the imagination of the young readers who for once do not start out for the manhunt by way of a classical crime story for children but are told about real events which were unique for their times […] Conclusion: in the form of a non-fiction book for children, Robos de leyenda presents the old topic of crime and punishment in a surprisingly new way which, by being laid out in newspaper style, is extremely attractive. Precisely reluctant boy readers may be supposed to warm not only to the topic but also to the neatly arranged passages which make access to the sometimes complex topics (security measures, investigation methods, trials etc.) much easier. As Robos de leyenda breaks new ground when it comes to design and may thus be supposed to be unique on the current market, I am glad to recommend this unusual non-fiction book for children for being translated into the German language.
