BOOK REVIEW ANIMAL SHELTER Author: Jose Fonollosa From the reader report by: André Höchemer By way of anecdotes, the author describes his everyday life as a voluntary aid at a Spanish animal home, at the same time telling about the procedure and circumstances of adopting an animal. […] The work provides much infotainment and is interesting for big and little dog lovers, but just as well it is a potential aid for animal welfare NGOs. For example, `Refugio´ might help organisations and associations which facilitate the adoption of dogs from Spain with telling people about their work. Nevertheless, the work is suitable for a wide audience of every age, and because of its simple language it may be supposed to be easily translated into the German language. What is told is the situation at a Spanish animal home, but the images, texts and circumstances are universal and are certainly like those in other (Central European) countries. The images are frequently in pastel colours, they are colourful and appealing and tend towards caricaturing the lovingly presented animals and humans, which may be supposed to appeal most of all to a younger audience.
