Just a quick write up for the Western this week Cat Fans as I'm still a bit tired after the JBS Foods Black Tie Ball, great job by the organisers, sponsors andtheFosterFamily
TheUnder14scontinuetogive all they have got, there is only 14 of them but week in and week out they put on a show, better players were Billy Rhook, Jett Lykke, Nate Longhurst, Jagger Geary and HarryButterworth.
The Under 16's again put in a mightyeffortagainstthetopof the ladder Demons but had some issues converting, eventually going down by 15 points, better players were Jedd Rhook, Joshua Jones, Oliver Foster, Samuel Patton, DylanMunroandArchieLane. A slow start proved costly for theusuallyfaststartingRessies but the way they finished would have pleased Coach Carlin, better players were Thomas Searle, Kane Forbes, J a r r a d S m i t h , K a d e n Humphries, Conan Devereux andBevanWombwell.
The Seniors were just a bit off thepacebutIamsuretheycan come back from this set back, better players were, Michael Krieger, Nick Schembri, Justin Carlin,ZacNash,PatMilichand HamishMcCrae.

Colby plays his 50th game today A product of our junior program, Clancy has steeled his way into our best lineup to be one of our key six defenders in the 22 flag A purveyor of red wine and never short of quick wit, get behind him today in what should be another toughencounter.
Last week our Seniors had a 30 pointwinoverNorth.Frazersnared 3goals,pairstoHamishMcRaeand Fish, singles to Tunks, Cargs, DredgieandFinn(musthavebeena gift!).Youjusthavetoloveruckmen kickinggoals.
Harry Tunkin continued his good form to be named best player followed by the return from State Country duties Clint. Hamish was named next, threading a string of continuous form together Worm was next followed by Micah who returned to the side Ginny rounded off the best players named and its worth mentioning theconsistentseasonhehashadas a major cog in our effective back six.

HiAll,Theweekendsarefalling quicker and quicker and this weekend we host South at home. We have the day of the Duck followed by the casino night so a big night to be had. We are auctioning of our indigenous jumpers up the clubsobesuretogetupandbe apart of history Back at home hoping the fine weather holds of for the weekend and we get a reprieve of the rain for a homegame.
Training was great with all Junior Roos joining the west kids for training. It was a great sight and plenty of smiles on everyone’s faces The game was competitive at the end With our reserves Coach Nathan Lewis convincingly beating in a 1 on 1 contest in the goal square by an under 12 E player. Toolbox thinking he is magic side stepping kids, and Stoney running around the same height as most under 12s. Interesting thing is Stoney still never handballed in the drill.

The football karma gods got me last week after giving a bake to Minuzzo and boasting about the pies! Getting Cooky sooking in the first quarter to sending me love hearts in the last was painful as the Blues final hit some form. I am so fortunate and pleased to know my pain causes so many pleasurer and its amazing how many Blues supporters we haveintheclub.Unfortunately mymouthandmybrainarenot quick learners so this week we have a bye against the Hawks so we are back in the winners circle. That’s makes for a great Saturday at the club so get up andbeapartofitall.
Special thanks to all the wonderful sponsors that keep on giving and supporting our greatclubtirelessly.
VIt was sponsors day last week and we thank them all for the contribution to the club and we couldn't run without them and the Seniors put on a good show for them and snuck into the top 4 Mitch Harrold continued his good form to be best player, along with Mitch Sims, Jed Sims, Bryce Whicke, Elliot and Harry Fisher who played a great first game. Well what a great game of country football the atmosphere was great with alot of banter between opposition crowds.
The seniors started well against the top side to be down by by a goal at quarter time but had a lapse in the 2nd with west kicking 3.6 to 1.1 to be 23 points down at half time The guys rallied in the 3rd to be 9 points down at the break to set up a great come back in the last with both teams having chances to get the win but ended up in a draw. The improvement in this group is starting to show some results and nevergiveupattitudeis giving supporters something to smile about.
Best players Reece Lillicrap, Sam Lock, Shaun Lock, Carl Slape, John Forster and GiancarloCooper.
Reserves went down to the top side by 63 points but with west only having 3 more scoring shots coach Mally might have them working on there goal kicking during the week.

Round 13 was us hosting M i l l i c e n t , w h o a r e currently strong across most grades, testing all our teams, but providing our sponsors some quality footballtowatch.
For the first time for the year, the U14s had the worst of the conditions Coach Roulstone and his Bali crew would have been a bit flat with the weather, but nonetheless they got off to a good start with a very even first half, only to fall away as the game went on. Best players were Sam Baron, James Butler, Ethan Brook, Charlie Wurst and CodyBlanck.
Not sure what the U16s did Friday night, but their 1st quarter cost them the game after outscoring Millicent for the rest of the game. Not sure they boys can make finals now, which is a shame given the talent they have. Here’s hoping theycanseeouttheseason with a few wins for coach Zeitz, and themselves. Award winners were Aaron Dally, Ben Braithwaite, Chad McLaughlin, Cooper TurnerandSavCrispino.
U16s were competitive most of the game but a lapse in the 3rd not
There is no doubt that the tightest team we have is the U18s and there performances reflect same. They were fairly ordinary in the 1st quarter, but whatever coach Bryan said, got them going. We are excited to see how far these boys can go. Best players were named Jonty Collins, Trae Hamilton, Cooper Turner, Darcy Bryan, Zach Nulty and RichardKinyabugma.
Nothing much changes
The senior inaccuracy early left too little time to put Millicent under too much pressure, despite getting within a couple of goals in the last quarter No games in the WBFL look easy this time of the year and the boysneedtogetsomeform and momentum going as we head towards finals. With an injury to our ruckman at the first bounce, it was again left to Sam Stafford to shoulder the ruck duties, which while got him best player, left us wanting in the forward line. Other best players were Sam Egan, Aaron Dally, Sam Zeitz and CamOrtlepp.
This week we are off to the kennel, with all teams needing a win. Let’s all get theretocheerthemalong.

MILLICENT had won the 1955 and 56 premierships under coach Ken Roberts but failed totakeathirdtitle.
Their premiership window was closing but it would re-open with a grand final appearance in 1960 after the arrival of Herb Henderson from Footscray, said to be the greatest VFL full back of alltime.
Neil McDonald who won the Mail Medal in 1954 wasstillplayingathisbestatcentrehalfbackand David Roughana moved to Millicent from East for oneyearowingtoanemploymenttransfer
He gave the Millicent outer defence plenty of rebound and his form during the season was so good he was selected in the SEBFL inter-league team.
Alby McIntyre had settled into a top full back where he mixed his pace and ability to play tall in the packs while veteran Tony Hodgens was still a talented centre half forward and provided Millicentwithasafeavenuetogoal.
WITH G GRREEEENNWWOOOOD D
Rover Dale Baker made his debut that season and he was a tough, nononsenseplayerwholovedthetoughworkinthe packs and had that ability to find his way through congestedtraffic.
He would later become a MP and Leader of the StateOpposition.
Up forward, they had Gordon Whetstone at full forward and he was runner-up in the league goal kicking on two occasions. He was a fast leading full forward who had the knack finding the goals. He was a much under-rated forward who was rarelybeatenatatimewhenthereweresometop fullbacksgoingaround.
Allan Gould was now into the veteran stage of his career but what a career he had. He was still a consistent ruckman and with his height he had beaten many former league ruckmen in the past fewyears.
Interestingly, the team’s mascot for the year was coach Ken Roberts’ son, also named Ken. He would later play 112 VFL games – 100 with Essendonand12withMelbourne.
KenseniorstartedhisVFLcareeratRichmondlate because of the Second World War. He debuted in
1947 at aged 22 when he was rated the best first year player, playing on a half back flank and in 1949hewasrunner-upinRichmond’sleaguebest andfairestaward.
He later found his way to several Victorian countryleagues, winningapremiershipatMinyip before taking Millicent to two flags in 1955 and 56. In 1958 he coached the Millicent senior colts and coached Beachport in the now defunct SouthernPortsLeaguein1960.
The Millicent club president Gordon Hutchesson would later go on to become president of the Western Border Football League in the late 1960s.

ROUNDPREVIEWS
WESTGAMBIERVSOUTHGAMBIER
The reigning premiers weren’t at their best in Round 13 and West Gambier will probably be without its coach and star goal a ack Lisa McGregor but they would s ll be confident on maintaining their unbeaten record when they host SouthGambierthisweekend.
The young Demons did take it up to MillicentinRound12butwereali le less polished at the weekend against the Cats so the Roos would believe theywillgetthejobdone.
Tahlia Earl stepped up for West last weekend when McGregor was injured early and rising teenage talent Lucy Simpson is also an op on to take the poten ally vacant shoo ngrole.
SarahRi ercon nuestobeascoring machine and with the other end of the court with defenders Amy Cram and Jade Ri er suffoca ng opposi onoffences, theDemonswill need to bring their best for four quarters if they are to upset the reigning tleholders.
Gracie Dalton and Alyssa Duncan have formed a wonderful working rela onship in the South shoo ng circle and they will rely on good connec on with Ruby Richter and Megan Reid – Reid coming off a strong month in centre for the Demons.
At the other end, it will require shu ng down Sarah Ri er and that task will take not only South’s circle defenders Sophie Wight and Ellie Bouchier but also Tully McShane and Reid to apply pressure to West feeders Mikaela Horrigan and Tara Bryant.
The bo om line is even if McGregor is absent, the Roos have enough defensive firepower to create turnover ball as well as the presence and accuracy of Sarah Ri er to securethepremiershippoints.
Aside from a fadeout in the last quarter, Casterton Sandford looked more se led and compe ve in the Round 13 clash with South, but it is another step up in class as the Cats host Millicent, who will be looking to r e b o u n d s t r o n g l y f r o m a disappoin ng narrow loss to North Gambierattheweekend.
Ivy Lane and Madalene Cleary are se ling into their combina on in the shoo ng circle and they will need to move the ball with pa ence and precision to find a way through the defensive line of Lauren Van Eeden and Por a McRae and that will rely on the work rate of Chelsey Galpin and Chloe Foster finding good feedingposi ononthecircle’sedge.
At the other end, defenders Caeleigh HumphriesandEbanyJarradfacethe daun ng task of denying Tabatha Sanderson easy ball, as well as controlling the influence of Demi Verbena.
Verbena is dangerous with ball in hand with her ability to find Sanderson at the post and she is also deadlinefromlongrangeontheshot and her connec on with Daisy Tunkin, Lisa Duldig and Lillie Paul will be pivotal in genera ng the slick ball movement so typical of the Saints at theirbest.
Madeline Pa on will play a key role for the Cats in curtailing the influence of the Millicent mid court by denying them easy access to the circle’s edge as well as pressuring every feed in the hope of drawing errors.
In the end, Millicent boasts more experience and are a more se led line-upandtheywilltakethepoints.
EASTGAMBIERVNORTHGAMBIER
The match of the round is at McDonald Park as the Bulldogs host NorthGambier
The Tigers are coming off a confidence building victory over
Millicent, while East will be looking for be er consistency a er having a poor start and then a poor final quarter against West Gambier last round, in a match where they otherwise matched the reigning premiers.
Morgan Amy thrives on playing the tall shooters in the compe on and her ba le with North shooter Grace Po s will be one of the match definingclashesofthematch. Amyisstrongintheairandworksthe front posi on with strength to try and deny her taller opponents easy ball and with her partner in crime Bo Creek also hun ng intercep ons higher up the court, North will not want to take the East defensive line lightly
Of course, Brianna Walters and Mel Renko are quality feeders and along withTigersgoala ackMaceyGriffith have built great connec on with Po s so pressure from the likes of Chloe Perryman and Eliza Cole on that incoming ball will be crucial if East is to stay in touch on the scoreboard.
Thisweekendmarksanewchallenge for North circle defenders Mikaila Pi , Noni McConnell and Stella Mobbs – rather then denying a tall shooterball, theywillbefacedwitha quick moving circle, with Renee Henke not afraid to take the long shot and Casey Horrigan using her ming on the baseline move to find spaceinrange.
Coming off a strong performance in her 350th game Tarsh McCallum will also be a key and her ba le with Lauran Norman or Pi will be another key match up. No one works the small spaces be er than McCallum and her delivery is always precise.
In theend, though Northjusthas too many weapons to let this one slip as thefinalsapproach.
