KENANSVILLE ELEMENTARY Elementary Battle of the Books
Our school is special because other schools around the world have to wear uniforms. We can wear our own clothes! Besides that, what I like most about school are my teachers and friends. My favorite subject is Language Arts, but I also enjoy Math because it is challenging. I’m not sure what college I want to attend, but my career choice is to be a nail tech or a professional artist. I have a lot of role models but my favorite is Mrs. Linda Jarman because she is a strong and loving woman who inspires me and others.

The Elementary Battle of the Books is a program for fourth and fifth graders in Duplin County Schools. Students are given a list of books and they compete against other students across the district on their knowledge of those books. This year, students had fifteen books to read. The competition took place on March 18, 2022. Congratulations to our young readers for winning Duplin County’s Elementary Battle of the Books. We are so proud of the hard work these students and coaches put forth. This team was dedicated to doing their best and it showed. A child who reads can do anything. This program provides a great diversity of genres, viewpoints, and subject matter to foster young readers.

Friends and learning make KES special. Friends help us learn new things. I enjoy learning and Math is my favorite subject because you get to learn new ways to solve problems. When I grow up, I want to go to UNC and be a Paleontologist.
