ROSE HILL-MAGNOLIA ELEMENTARY Beta Club
Rose Hill-Magnolia treats students as their own and accepts everyone. I like that I can study and learn while staying near to the people I know. My favorite subjects are Science, Language Arts, Art, and Music. They have always fascinated me and I have taken it to learn about a career in music. I play piano and I am learning guitar. My future plans are going to a university and taking biology because I may choose that as a career instead. I have always wanted to help people. My cousins are my role models. They have helped me during these two years of the pandemic.
8th grade
The Rose Hill-Magnolia Beta Club is comprised of 4th through 8th grade students who maintain a 90 or higher average, with no grade lower than 80, on their year end and semester report cards. RHM has 15 members in the Elementary Division (grades 4-5) and 30 in the Junior Division (grades 6-8). One of the club’s service projects this school year was collecting items for gift bags and delivering them to The Gardens of Rose Hill Rest Home for Christmas. The students also sang Christmas Carols and played fun trivia games with the residents who thoroughly enjoyed the visit! Another service project was a joint venture with the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and other community organizations to collect new and gently used picture books and dictionaries to give to students who are learning English as a second language. A group of members traveled to Greensboro in January to attend the North Carolina Junior Beta Convention and participated in various competitions with our club bringing home several Top 5 Awards in the State! In the Junior Division, the Technology Team came in 5th place. In the Elementary Division, the Engineering Team came in 4th place, JJ Rouse came in 5th place in Visual Arts Mixed Media and 2nd place in Visual Arts Sculpture, and Presley Brown came in 2nd place in Black and White Photography, won Champion in Color Photography, and also Champion in Visual Arts Drawing! All of these teams and individuals will be competing at the National Beta Convention this summer in Nashville, TN!

My friends and the kind teachers are what make Rose Hill-Magnolia special to me. I like how kind the whole school is. My favorite subject is Math because I understand it and I’m good at it which gives me opportunities. Science is also fun sometimes. My future plans are to start saving money at 14, get a job, and go to a dance college to be a dancer. Then I will go to law school and become a lawyer. Tupac is my role model because he was a real and true person, even though he was a rapper and not all rappers are true.
