WARSAW ELEMENTARY Communities in Schools
8th grade
Communities in Schools is an organization that helps bridge the gap between the community and the school. The organization increases educational engagement with students, families, teachers, school staff, and community members. There motto is “All in for kids – In Schools and Beyond”. They are also involved in Teen Court and will host a fashion show this year to promote businesses that provide support for the organization. Baby Steps is another program Communities in Schools offers to help young, school-aged mothers. At Warsaw Elementary, CIS focuses on support in the areas of attendance, social and emotional learning, and basic needs resources for our students. Mrs. Yeni Linares comes to our school 1-2 days a week to provide small group lessons for K-1 students and to spread positivity throughout all grades. She brings her smile, helping hands, and kind words to all she passes in the hall.

Mrs. Cruse, the School Counselor, makes my school special because she is caring, shows support, and is there for the kids at our school. It’s been a rough couple of years, but we’re all hanging in there. We are making it! I’m doing well in my classes and staying active in sports. I have learned that we are resilient at Warsaw Elementary School! Math is my favorite subject because I understand it better. I enjoy learning new things. I want to be a video game developer or architect. I plan to attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to achieve my dreams. Mrs. Moore, the Assistant Principal, is a positive role model for me because she leads by good example. She wants what is best for us at my school. My favorite sport is basketball because it inspires me not to give up! Before my grandmother passed away she would always tell me to “Never give up” so basketball is an area where I can have fun and push myself to be better every game and practice.
My friend, Kyah Germain, makes school special for me. We have been friends since the 1st grade and she makes me happy. She understands me. At my school, most students really try hard to be good role models for others. I like to watch others be successful! Art is my favorite subject. I love drawing! My dad and my brother are great artists, so I guess I took after them. I want to be an animator or a voice actor when I grow up. I think it’s cool to be able to make a lot of money just by using your voice. I am learning to speak Japanese and Spanish. I also want to learn how to speak Korean. I look up to my mom. She tries really hard and has been through a lot, but she doesn’t give up. She does everything for me and my siblings. I am in the Beta Club and I enjoy playing volleyball and softball.
