DEKTON BLOCK Grävlingen by Equator Studio
En el centro de Estocolmo se encuentra este edificio histórico completamente renovado tras varios años de obras. Gracias a su nueva fachada en Dekton Keranium, el bloque de inmuebles Grävlingen ha pasado a ser un espacio acogedor y atractivo, adaptado a los nuevos hábitos del siglo xxi. El conjunto, que cuenta con más de 350 años de vida, ha sufrido numerosas renovaciones hasta reflejar el momento actual. La fachada replica —a través de las piezas de Dekton— las nervaduras verticales habituales en el barrio de Regeringsgatan y crea un interesante juego de luces y sombras. La innovadora propuesta, proyectada por el estudio Equator Stockholm, fue galardonada con el Premio Internacional de Arquitectura Macael a la mejor fachada de Europa en 2018. Para la elección del material se tuvieron en cuenta tanto las necesidades futuras del edificio como la conexión histórica con el barrio. Durante siglos, el barrio de Regeringsgatan ha albergado desde casas de madera hasta casas de piedra pulida, de modo que el bloque ha contado con varias fachadas y expresiones a lo largo de los años. Tras barajar varias opciones se optó por Dekton, un material ultracompacto resistente a los rayos UV, las inclemencias meteorológicas y la suciedad propia de un entorno urbano. El color de la fachada, de apariencia rocosa, genera una base visual sobre la que se apoya el edificio, para así aportar una sensación de solidez y consistencia.

Located in Stockholm’s inner city center, this historic building has been completely refurbished after several years of work. Thanks to its new facade in Dekton Keranium, the Grävlingen block has been transformed into a welcoming and appealing space, adapted to the new habits of the 21st century. The block, with 350 years of history, that has shed skin many times to reflect the present. The facade uses Dekton pieces to mimick the vertical ribs that are so habitual in the buildings of Regeringsgatan quarter, and creates an interesting play of light and shadow. The original facade, designed by the architecture firm Equator Stockholm, won the International Award for Europe in the 2018 edition of the Macael Prizes. The choice of material was made with both future needs and connection to the history of the place in mind. For centuries, the Regeringsgatan neighborhood has housed everything from wooden houses to polished stone houses, so a common denominator over the years has been that it has had several facades and expressions. After considering several options, the architects chose Dekton, an ultracompact, city-proof material that is hightly resistant to UV rays and to harsh weather conditions. In this case moreover it could be used as a single material from the plinth all the way up. The warm brown stone-like material gives the property weight and a visual base to stand on, conveying a feeling of durability and security.
