Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), 2017; Illustrious Son of Torrelavega award, bestowed by the Quercus Opinion Group, 2014; Award for the Integration of People with Disabilities, 2014; Malagueño of the Year award, 2011; Estrella Feniké Award for Culture, 2010; Top Personality of 2009, Tertulia Andaluza; Consumers’ Union Award for Culture, 2009; M-Capital Mediterranean Culture Award, 2006; Diario Sur Award for Culture and Malagueño of the Year award, 2005; ‘Gazpachuelo de Honor’ Award, 2004. In 2008, he was awarded the Public Prize for the Best Cultural Institution, in recognition of his work as Director of CAC Málaga. He has spoken at a large number of conferences and given courses and seminars in a range of museums, art fairs and universities in Switzerland, Great Britain, Spain, USA, France and Italy. As an art critic, he has been a regular contributor to ABC Cultural, Alerta, Comunidad Escolar and Diario Montañés, as well as magazines such as ArcoNoticias, Art, Arte y Parte, Arteguía, Artyco, Creación, Cyan, Componente Norte, Rekarte, La Colección and RNA. He has also been published in El Independiente, Diario Sur, El Mundo, El País and Vanity Fair, and has collaborated with monthly radio pieces for Cadena SER, as well as for Onda Cero. In total, he has published more than a thousand articles, art critiques and opinion pieces. He has also worked as editor of the magazine Arte y Parte and as director of the magazine ArcoNoticias (published by the ARCO International Art Fair, Madrid).
