Reborn She was strong enough to face any challenge and learned to be more generous to others. Day by day, she was creating a new life. She wasn't shrouded by the negative events that occurred in her life; she stood up and took the right steps to attract more positive energy. She thought it may be pointless at first but she handled every situation with maturity, without making a haste, believed in her inner strength when facing a challenge. She stayed optimistic and continued putting efforts to reach her goals. She tried not to become obsessed with her materialistic possessions, worked hard to fulfill her dreams rather than relying on luck. She tried not to face any major hassle in her life, playing it safe but always prepared for the worst. She tried not to hang onto bitter memories of the past; she moved on in life to seek a better future. She tried to enjoy all the little pleasures in life; turning her good thoughts into actions to fulfill her dreams. She stuck to her plans rather than following too many rules; she was highly energetic and a good leader. She was more flexible and open-minded and worked hard towards her goals. She accepted the unpleasant phase she went through in life; she gave herself another chance to revive and she fought back. She was reborn from the ashes of her past and in the present she arose and created the future she was destined for. Chelsey.L.Stailing

The Sacred Journey of Parenthood By: Lisa Brenner There is no greater transition in life than giving birth and becoming parents. This is a sacred experience for all involved: the birther, the partner and the new baby. Throughout pregnancy, the birthing process and in the immediate postpartum time, there is much we can do to connect with ourselves, our partner and our baby to bring conscious loving awareness to our experiences. Ayurveda and Yoga philosophy offer much guidance and wisdom to help create a calm, loving and supportive environment while navigating the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual challenges of becoming new parents. Whether you are preparing for the arrival of your first baby or second, third, or fourth, each birth is an initiation, one that needs to be acknowledged and honoured. No two pregnancies are the same, just as no two babies are the same. Each birth is an opportunity to create a conscious connection within ourselves, with our baby and with our partner, embracing the change in family dynamics. “To mother a child is one of the most momentous and influential jobs in a

woman’s life. It is referred to as a maha-dharma or ‘great duty’, above all other dharmas in life. The dharma of motherhood includes serving as a positive role model for your children, guiding and supporting them, building confidence and compassion in them, instilling strong values and ethics, and encouraging their growth and development as individual beings.” Margo Shapiro Bachman, Yoga Mama Yoga Baby. The Charaka Samhita, an ancient Ayurvedic text, advises to treat a pregnant person with gentle attention and care. While pregnant, whatever we take in, including thoughts, emotions, experiences and foods, are transmitted to the baby, positive OR negative. How can we create and maintain more peacefulness and joy in our lives and live more harmoniously? We need only to look to the qualities of Sattva (one of the three natures of the mind),

which are clarity, alertness, compassion, balance, love and awareness. One of the primary goals in Yoga and Ayurveda is to cultivate more Sattva. So how can we experience more Sattva within ourselves, our relationships and our surroundings? Here is a list to get you started. Be gentle with yourself and others Always speak the truth with kindness and compassion Listen to peaceful music Read uplifting books Spend time in nature Eat wholesome, fresh food Create time for spiritual practices (like meditation) Practice Yoga and breathing exercises Write freely in a journal Have daily self-care practices Create a support system for yourself

While it is impossible to protect yourself completely from unwanted stressors, coming back to these practices allows you to be gentle with yourself, to go within and to sit in stillness. Each moment is an opportunity. What are you choosing to focus on? “The health of every family begins with the mother. She is the tree from which the healthy fruit must come.” - Juliette de Bairacli Levy

either. This betwixt and between is sacred space within which powerful and profound events occur - often uninvited.” Transformed by Birth, by Britta Bushnell Phd. So how does one ‘prepare’ for birth? How can you tap into the sacredness of this experience? Begin by going within. Still the mind, flow with the breath, allow yourself to feel all of the sensations with wonder and curiosity. Remain soft and open. Trust the process.

Preparing for birth “Birthing is the most profound initiation to spirituality a woman can have.” - Robin Lim “When we enter the world of birth, we step across the threshold from the mundane to the sacred. Pregnancy and birth are a space between worlds - a liminal space - a place where you are no longer not a parent and not yet one

It can be helpful to make a list of birth preferences prior to going into labour. Set some time aside during the pregnancy to sit quietly and imagine yourself in the birthing space. What does it look like and how does it feel? Who would you like to be present at the birth? How would you like the atmosphere? (Music, lighting, noise). What positions would you like to try during the birth? Are you ok with pain medication, and if so, what type and when? Writing out your preferences is a great way to keep others informed of how you would like your birth to look. A quick online search will pull up lots of templates for you to use as an example. Keep in mind that with any ‘plan’ it’s important to remain flexible. Unexpected circumstances can arise, or you may change your mind about something once you are actually in labour. That’s okay! Being flexible and going with the flow are necessary skills to have for your soon-to-be new role: a parent!

Ayurveda provides us with the four Pillars of Care, which are REST, NOURISHMENT, HERBS and BODY CARE. The birther is as delicate as their new baby. They are ata crossroads and require deep rejuvenation - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If they are able to receive the level of care needed they will have a greater chance of thriving and coming out the other side feeling strong, empowered, calm, radiant and aligned.

Preparing for postpartum

Ayurveda refers to the first 42 days postpartum as the Sacred Window. How a birther is cared for during these 42 days can have an impact on them for the next 42 years. The first 42 days are a sacred and tender time. Birthers need to be surrounded with love and deep layers of support as they step into their new reality, honouring and validating this wondrous journey they have embarked upon. Birthers need to feel empowered, strong and capable; to be able to tap into their intuition with a deep knowing. Nurturing, loving and caring for new mothers gives them the time, space and energy to tap into their inner strength so they can take care of themselves, their babies, their families and ultimately, their greater community.

So, how can you ensure that you will be wrapped in the layers of support you need so you can take the time you need to heal and transition into your new role? A postpartum plan is essential. There is so much to consider and everyone’s needs will look a little different. Taking the time to think about the help you will need or desire, talking it through with your partner, and writing it out will help you to come up with a plan that works for you and your family. I have a free planning guide available that you can download by visiting www.wiserootstherapies.com/ebook. This ebook is a great starting point. If you’d like to delve even deeper into postpartum planning, I highly recommend the Build Your Nest workbook by Kestrel Gates. She goes into great detail about all aspects of postpartum planning with a lot of great reflection questions to help you discover exactly what your particular needs are or will be. I also offer individual sessions to create a personalized plan that will work for each family. More information can be found on my website.

DEEPENING FAMILY TIES ON MOTHER’S DAY I love holidays. What I love about holidays is the love and good vibrations that are enjoyed by everyone. Most families use holidays as a time to get together, break bread and create memories that will live on forever. Think for a moment about the times that you’ve enjoyed with your family over Christmas, Thanksgiving, Boxing Day or Mother’s Day. Even in contentious families, people often set their differences aside for a day or two to celebrate. Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate your mother for obvious reasons. She gave birth to you, she fed, bathed and clothed you until you could do so for yourself. But let’s dig a little deeper. A woman, a mother is the link that ties generations together. Through her womb, distinctive DNA is passed to a new generation. Everything that is uniquely you was given to you by your mother.

There is no love greater than a mother’s love. If you’re a mother and you’re reading this, you know how much you adore your children. Regardless of their character or track record - it is rare for a mother not to have a deep love for her “babies”. That love goes double for single moms. You often hear people say that their mother played both parental roles. While flattering, it is not possible for one parent to fill the role of two parents. Yet and still, many women take on the role of protector, provider, disciplinarian and nurturer. I have a tremendous amount of admiration for every mother, but especially single mothers. Raising children of my own helps me to have a deep understanding of what it takes to be a mother. Some of my most cherished memories with my mother are times

Please remember your friends that have lost their mothers; a phone call, a visit or inviting them to spend time with your family (if possible) can help ease the heaviness of their loss. Even if your mother has passed on from the physical plane, you can still do this exercise and you can still tell your mother what she needs to hear. 1. Take a moment to center yourself.

Mother Nature Anja Lavigne Your House Coach The Month of May is connected to the home in so many areas. May is named by Maia, the Roman Goddess. She was considered a nurturer and an Earth Goddess, which explains outdoor garden time and Mother’s Day celebration. As we are continuing to experience the world wide lock down, it is vital that we stay in a high positive frequency, which in turn reflects the energies in and around our home. Happy Spring Home Open your windows and feel that warm happy air drift in and release that cabin fever aura. Extend your inside living to outside. Weather permitting, schedule some meals outside such as a lunchtime picnic or al fresco outdoor dinner under the stars. Spring is an amazing time to energy cleanse. Laughter raises the vibration in you and in your home. This is one of the best ways to clear the energy. Pick some funny films, curl up with family and some popcorn, and get into the laughing vibe. Being in an upbeat environment is so crucial to our health. Emotions such as anger and anxiety affect our energy field and our immune system. Start being aware of the vibration of your own thoughts and keep them loving and joyful. Laughter and feelings of love increase serotonin and endorphin levels, helping us to fight disease and increase wellbeing. Outdoors It’s also time to get the green thumb out. There are always so many amazing options on growing flowers and various fruits, vegetables and herbs. Whether it's growing

lettuce in a hanging basket or building a raised vegetable garden, there are a number of new innovative garden ideas online for everyone. May is the beginning of more daylight and sunshine; hang outside and bask in that vitamin D on your balcony, porch, backyard, or at the park. Begin to use the outdoors for what normally would be indoor activities such as your morning practices. Consider moving your meditation and journaling sessions outside with the birds. This will definitely help to ground you. As children are spending more time indoors through homeschooling and distance learning, parents are looking for ways to get them outside and keep them busy. Help them spend some time outside by designing a mini outdoor work table, a reading nook and maybe a science station. They could also produce their own garden to plant, tend to and witness the evolution of growth. Outdoor clearing and cleaning makes your home look polished, taken care of and often makes us feel proud. Give some attention to the sides of your home and around your garage; wash windows or power clean the deck. There are so many health benefits to being outdoors, connecting with the earth and indulging in a belly laugh. Wishing you a joyful, cheerful May!

"Emotional Healing Leads to Emotional Freedom" ~Chris Lee, Author

The Pink Full Moon In Scorpio By: Savita Moon Child

“I desire deep healing and transformation by acknowledging the power that is within me.” We are going to see a significant shift in energy with this moon in Scorpio, which is directly opposing the sun in Taurus. The energies will have the opportunity to balance themselves between the earthly energies of Taurus with the water energies of Scorpio, where an area of our life is being illuminated, shining it’s focus on the Scorpio themes of transformation, intuition and energy healing. What are we seeing in ourselves that was unconscious or that we were unaware of? What is coming up in our awareness and in our emotional needs? We may have a sense of what is happening within us because the Scorpio energy is about what is under the surface, secrets within, whereas the Taurus energy is about what is above the surface, what we see and experience by tapping into our five senses. This shift in energy is asking us how we feel right now. What is happening within us that we are willing and ready to shine a light on and fully own? What we are feeling and sensing may be hard to put into words at times, but we will feel it strongly. The Scorpio energy will notice how something is coming up and that we will have to work through it and understand our emotions in a deeper way. Scorpio is also where we connect with energies that can help us heal. It allows us to connect with energies that we take on from other people. This could include traumatic experiences and emotional energy. We can be feeling a lot that is not ours and part of that Scorpio energy is working through it. Whatever we have energetically been feeling or experiencing, we are ready to cleanse, purify and transform.

The moon is currently opposing a line-up of planets. The sun is in conjunction with Uranus, and Venus and Mercury are both in Taurus. All these planets are together in an area of our chart, bringing our attention to what is happening in our real world. The Taurus energy is about stability, reliability and what we can count on.

It is the builder of the Zodiac, where we understand what is required of us. Taurus energy can bring about finances and the monetary means of something. What things will cost? What do we have to pay? What will be the committed investment outcome? The Taurus energy will see things through, highlighting where we have been focusing and where we are now tapping into more of our truth or what is happening within us, which is important to acknowledge and own. With the sun in conjunction with Uranus, something comes up to our awareness during the full moon, where there will be an awakening or a surprise, which can also be chaotic or unsettling. The Taurean energy will allow us to build up a higher awareness of what we really want. To have what we want, we will have to let go of something that no longer serves us; something that brings about a turning point in our life; a revelation.

It may be something that we can no longer ignore or deny. Another startling revelation may come outside of us, destabilising the energy of Mercury and Venus in Taurus, where our hearts and our minds are. It may feel hard to make a change, but we are aware of the change and that is the strong Uranus energy. It may shake up what has felt comfortable. Saturn is currently sitting in Aquarius, squaring Uranus, which can also dig up some unwanted feelings that will need to be addressed. Saturn creates a sense of pause, where we can find a lot of wisdom in our awareness. Trust what you feel with this newfound wisdom within. What messages are coming through? Our intuition may become louder, which can distract our focus on things in the real world. Taurus is all about our physical world and physical material experiences. Saturn in Aquarius is bringing our attention to what we know about ourselves; what we can no longer ignore or deny. Aquarius is the higher knowingness in Saturn, the reality check about who we are and what we are concentrating on. We may think about where we will be directing our energy every day, what we have learned in the process and what we will do with it in the real world. The Scorpio full moon is associated with Buddha’s life - the transformation of Earth’s enlightenment and death, making it a time to check in with ourselves and the path we are on. It’s also about letting go of what no longer serves us so we can focus on what we are building and looking at the practical reality of where we want to go next on our journey. The combination of these two signs can be powerful and healing as the nurturing energy of Taurus calls us back to home, asking us to slow down, tune in and do the inner emotional processing under this intense full moon. We can find a true inner security in ourselves that cannot be touched by anything external, coming from a place that feels safe and at home from within. Love and light and Happy Full Moon!

Incense

Holders,

and

Sticks

Cones

By Andrea Sipcic

If you’re new to the world of burning incense, the options available can seem overwhelming. For me, that was definitely the case. Even if you’re not new to it, you may find that there are some options available that you may not know about or didn’t consider trying because of the comfort you’ve developed with what you’ve been using for so long. One way or the other, it’s nice to have options and get to know what we may like and what may work best for us. As with most things, despite the feedback offered, it’s always best to try things out for ourselves and see what we like. The following are a few of the different options to consider. (Please note the safety importance of burning incense in a more open, non-obstructed area, especially with the open burners that don’t have any type of enclosure.)

Boat Burners/Ash Catchers These are the most common holders for stick incense. They are basically a long, flat piece of wood (or aluminum, ceramic, glass or stone) that curves up at the end, which has the hole to put the stick into. With this being so open and without any enclosures, the smoke emitted from the sticks is quite concentrated. Although it is the simplest and smallest, I have found it to be the messiest, with ashes that fall outside of the catcher. It can be a good choice for travel and small spaces.

Box Burners This is a long, coffin shaped incense burner typically made of wood. The incense stick is placed and burns inside of the box, with all the ashes contained inside as well. There are small holes on the top cover from which the smoke comes out of, making the smoke emitted less concentrated and dense. Remember to empty the ashes out frequently, not allowing it to get too accumulated.

Wide Set and Leaf shaped holders These are my personal favourites. I especially like the leaf shaped ones. They are the same idea as the standard boat burners, but being wider, there is virtually no mess, and it is very simplistic. The one I prefer and use most is a longer leaf shape, so the stick sits on a steeper angle. Similarly, I have tried and do appreciate the more rounded, stand up ones, in which the incense stick stands up straight, as opposed to slanted like most others. I have found this one to be a little less tidy than the leaf shaped one, but definitely appreciate the compact size and simplicity. There are also others that fall in between these two in terms of shape; they are wider, but shorter, often leaf shaped or oval like, with the stick sitting on a less steep angle.

Wine Bottle Holders/Burners These come in the shape of a wine bottle, and the stick is held in place through a small key ring that sits at the top of the bottle opening. There are typically a few small holes at the bottom of the bottle, allowing the smoke to leave through them, as well as through the top hole. This is a great option if you want to have a less dense smoke being emitted, and if maybe the coffin burners aren’t your first choice; some people don’t love the idea of burning in a wood enclosed box. This option also takes up less surface space. The one thing to note is that in order to secure the incense stick, you will have to wedge it between the key ring and then place the stick inside. This can be a little tricky and messy, and can cause ash and incense residue to get on your fingers. You can also easily make your own using a wine bottle. Getting the holes at the bottom is not necessary and a little more tricky, but if you want them, it is definitely doable.

Incense Cones Recognizing that incense sticks seemed to be more popular, I would always disregard cones and didn’t really understand how the tiny things even worked. When I finally tried them out, I was pleasantly surprised. They function much the same as sticks, but are just more compact and burn faster. With these, you just light the tip and then extinguish the flame with gentle movements of the hand. There are also a wide variety of holders for cones. If you’re looking to go super minimalistic and prefer the most basic available, you can opt for the tiny, flat metal plate measuring less than three centimetres (only slightly bigger than the cone itself). If you prefer the more extravagant route, there are large, more intricate and mystical options such as a water fountain or a dragon type design, creating a striking, more illusionary vibe. Or opt for anything in-between; the possibilities are practically endless.

Boundaries when Working from Home By: Anja Lavigne

Achieving balance is what we always strive for, as many of us are working from home and our children are home. Creating boundaries is key. Together as a family and a couple, creating a work/home school schedule can be key for success. While it is not always easy to create balance in your home, here are some suggestions on how to make it a little bit easier and more manageable. Add a calendar to be placed in the kitchen, and each Friday (or over the weekend) revise and fill in what is needed for the following week. Begin with addressing what projects from work need to be focused on. Jot down any meetings and have that immediately placed in the calendar. Posting your children’s school projects is also beneficial. At the end of the week take 30 minutes or so to see what worked and what didn’t. Consider how the week went. What challenges did you run into? What worked well? Then use this new knowledge to make any improvements for the following week. Having a schedule is key, especially for children. Knowing what is next decreases stress. Being together at certain times of the day allows you to give them time for positive attention and interaction. This will also give you your time when you need to work. Make active play a key part of the day. For example, 20 minutes of outdoor play after lunch or a walk in the neighbourhood after or before dinner. Make meal times such as lunch an important time to re-connect. Look for recipes that are quick and nutritious meals with foods such as hummus, veggies, cheese or a quick pasta. Eating together without distractions allows for mindful eating, which allows you and your children to be more

conscious while eating, providing more energy and better concentration for the next school/work session. This also limits the number of times children will interrupt your work time. If they do, you will feel less guilty about telling them it is your time to work and you should not be disrupted unless it is absolutely necessary. Establishing physical boundaries during the day is key for everyone to achieve their work tasks. If both children and adults don’t usually work from home, choose designated spaces. Try keeping your work space in your office or at the dining table and create a separate space in the kitchen or family room for your children. Keep in mind that each child works differently. This may require separate spaces. Provide each child with their own bin for all their materials. I find the clear ones work best, as it is easier to see what is inside. This way at the end of the day, tidying up will be easier and the bins can be stored away in their bedrooms or off to one side.

School days usually finish before work day. Schedule a 20 minute clean-up for them before they go play. If playing outside is not an option, be sure to have quiet activities ready in advance. This could include screen time, colouring, lego, or reading. This can help you focus on your work as you may get less interruptions as they are not needing help with school. Have some sort of sign for your children for when you are in an important meeting or can not be disturbed. Let them in on choosing the sign. This can

Self care is also key in maintaining balance. Have some quiet time for whatever it is you love doing in the evening. Recharging keeps us aligned. There are many “Mother’s Little Helper“ services that can give ease to Mom and the rest of the family during this continued stay at home time, one being the meal in the box. Many companies deliver all the ingredients and make putting meals together quick and easy but also an activity that the rest of the family can help with. There are also laundry services in neighbourhoods that will pick up, wash, iron, fold and deliver your clothes. As there is more activity at home, there is also an increase in energetic residues that will build up. Maintain a cleansed home by opening windows be fun for them and they often will resonate more and clearing the space with crystals and sage to with it if they got to choose it. Let them know the help keep the energies of your house positive and high. Having a clean and orderly home increases meaning of the signal ahead of time. One our happiness, health and wealth. suggestion is of course closing your door or hanging a sign on the outside of your door. If you are in an open space, put up your hand in front of your face or fingers on your lips. This will become a great way to communicate with each other without creating a heavy distraction. If two parents are working from home, take turns interacting with the children and being in charge of meals and laundry. For example, one does lunch, the other makes dinner. Some days the family goes out together for a walk to the park, and other days it may only be one parent, which will allow the other to have some time to focus on their work completely. Being organized and clutter-free also gives you time to rest and recharge as well as giving you a feeling that work is complete. The habit of putting everything away after dinner and sweeping up keeps your house in check. This can be a family cleanup which will have everyone doing something and the tasks will be quicker. Having a clear and clean kitchen brings positivity and clarity for the next morning.

Practicing Witchcraft By: Aria de Lima

In the past, the practice of witchcraft was something that was commonly looked down on. Oftentimes, people kept their practices a secret to avoid the backlash and criticism from society. Today, practicing witchcraft is actually very common and openly talked about. Entire communities have been built as a place for people to learn, share and interact with others who have similar beliefs. Tori Smith was one of those

people. At the young age of 14, Tori found herself taking a passionate interest in crystals. Over the next several years, she began to notice that her intuition and draw towards certain practices continued to grow. About a year ago, she connected with the online community through the help of Instagram and Tik Tok. She was able to learn from others and eventually found her mentor. “I’ve sort of been a witch my whole life without really knowing about it. I’ve always had a really good intuition,” she said.

While many people are practitioners of witchcraft, there are different types of witches who use different methods within their practice. Some examples of this include Hedge, Wicca, Lunar, Celtic and Herb magic. “Anybody can be a witch. There is power within every single human being. We all have a light source; we all have energy. The power within yourself is all that you need.” Over the past year, Tori has taken a deep dive into the history of magic and witchcraft. As you would with any other interest, she explained that doing your research is the first step. One way she incorporates her practice into her everyday life is through the use of candles;

setting intentions while lighting candles. The candles can be used for various purposes based on the purpose you choose to have them serve. They don’t have to be any special candles; simple tea lights will do just fine. You may choose to use coloured candles which each have their own meaning and purpose. For example, yellow is to help promote happiness, and black candles can be for protection. She also keeps a spell book and works with various aspects of the practice, including potions and the use of herbs and crystals. She turned to books such as ‘Psychic Witch,’ by Mat Auryn and ‘Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs,’ by Scott Cunningham. “It is a manipulation of the

energy around us for an optimal result. I almost sort of felt the draw and fell into this world head first. I had a few crystals. I had a few books. I would read online and see videos, and I always had such an interest in it,” she said. With the support of some of her family members, friends and the community she has found online, Tori has expanded her knowledge of the practice of witchcraft and incorporated it into her life. Ultimately this led to her creating her own crystal business, called Musings of a Baby Witch. when I loved her so much. Thankfully when I birthed my son later that week, as soon as I held him I fell in love with him. It was a new love, a love just for him. As a mother of two, I was faced with adapting a new mindset. On an ideal day this mindset was balance. On a less ideal day it was how to juggle and survive.

Slowly without my knowing I was becoming more and more mommy and less me. My self value began to come through my children. How well mannered they were, how well dressed they were, how healthy they were, how smart they were all reflected back to me. In 2007 and 2009, my younger son and daughter were born. My ‘mom value’ doubled, as a mom of 4 had become a rare species. I can remember at one point in time,

The Mommy & Me Mindset BY PRIYA ALI I first became a mother back in 1998 at the age of 25. I was most excited to enter motherhood; it was the next big milestone in adulthood after I got married when I was 23. Mothering my first born led me to create a mindset of wanting to give her everything in the world. As I was still experiencing the newness of being more than someone’s daughter and wife, this new role was huge for me. I spent every moment with her, as her father worked long hours. She became my companion as well as my little doll that I dressed up and paraded around.

Days before giving birth to my second child and oldest son, I remember holding my daughter in my arms in a rocking chair, sobbing. I couldn’t fathom how I could love another child

recall the kids being away for Winter Break and at their father’s house for the whole week. By mid-week I had grown tired of take out and craved my own cooking. That day at the age of 42, I became aware that I had never, ever, cooked a meal for just myself. I had ordered in or eaten leftovers, frozen meals or managed to grab a meal out with friends or survived on appetizers from networking events, but never cooked a meal for me. What did I even like to eat? Not what will please the kids, or meet their nutritional needs or be fast enough for me to make in between work and supper time, but what did I like to eat? I spent the rest of the week making daily trips to the supermarket and buying and trying and learning about me.

This sparked a new awareness and a new phase in my life. The awareness that in becoming a mother, it is just as important to nurture, nourish, teach, lead, encourage, support and praise yourself. It is important to create opportunities for yourself as an individual; to know where others end and you begin. From the hours of labour, where we learn to push through the pain for the lives of our children to begin, we can easily fall into the mindset of living our lives for them, through them and putting them first.

It is so vital to consciously make time to be in the mindset of your own growth and evolution. So many of us get lost in the motherhood

USING YOGA TO CONNECT WITH MOTHER GAIA By: Premadasa Gangadeen

Traditionally Yoga was taught by a teacher to a single student in an act known as ‘guru-shisya-parampa’ which loosely translates as a heart-to-heart teacher to student relationship or transmission. The concept was to have a full-blown unadulterated passing of Yoga teachings from a master to a student. After many successive years of right practice, the student realizes that Yoga is to ultimately become a master to then share with another student. This is how a lineage is established and when followed precisely as discovered by the original Sage. Any knower of this knowledge and practice would be able to replicate the teacher’s experience for higher knowledge. This knowledge of Yoga initially came to the Sage as they were quietly practicing out in nature and as a result, they derived the wisdom of Yoga and realized the ultimate connection with nature, or physical

existence as a gateway to Universal awareness. While under the current pandemic restrictions, it may not be too easy to form or maintain a relationship with a guru as an observance of lineage as described above, however we all have access to this original wisdom if we were to create the space for it to unfold. Let’s all take advantage of the spring into summer temperatures to develop an outdoor practice of Yoga and meditation. We now have a great opportunity to transcend the need for a personal connection with a teacher or guru toward forming a greater connection to our Mother Earth as the original Sages once did. In fact, providence has brought us right to the doorstep of this moment to re-establish our awareness of our universal connection and dependence on nature for our very physical existence and overall state of health and wellness. Let’s get back to the simplicity of the basics and tune into the power that prevails within that simplicity. The prescription is as follows:

Try this practice daily, preferably outside on a mat of natural fibre on the earth, once around the time of sunrise and then prior to sunset. Try to practice in the same area at approximately the same time. Have a journal handy to note any observances after each practice. Morning 5 minutes of Sun Salutations (https://www.yogajournal.com/yoga101/kundalini-sun-salutation-to-experience-aspiritual-awakening/) 5 minutes of Square breathing (https://blog.zencare.co/square-breathing/) 5 minutes of quiet meditation sitting with eyes closed and with a focus on the point between the two eyebrows as the breath flows in and out. Mentally recite ‘SO’ on the inhalation and ‘HUM’ on the exhalation. Mentally find a tone to recite the mantra above which is in harmony with the sound you hear in the moment while outside. Sit straight and comfortably as needed, either on a cushion or a stool/chair.

Evening 5 minutes of Moon Salutations (https://www.artofliving.org/us-en/yoga/moonsalutation) 5 minutes of Square breathing (https://blog.zencare.co/square-breathing/) 5 minutes of quiet meditation sitting with eyes closed with a focus on the point between the two eyebrows as the breath flows in and out. After three consecutive days observing the above, extend the practice to 10 minutes in the morning of each of the above and 10 minutes in the evening of each of the above. After three more consecutive days, extend the timing to 15 minutes of each and so on, according to personal preference.

THE MAGIC OF ANEERAKA By Aria de Lima On February 4th, 2020, Geena and her husband were elated as they welcomed their new baby Kareena into the world and dove head first into the exciting role of parenting. However, as many new mamas will tell you, the toll on your physical state can be a lot to handle. From feedings throughout the night, to dealing with your body healing after birth, it really is a lot. For Geena, one of her major concerns was surrounding her loss of hair. “Postpartum hair loss is no joke. There were days where I used to cry because I was losing all my hair in the shower. I was so scared to even brush my hair because of the fall out. Everywhere I went, there was hair on the floor, on my clothes, on my pillow and on the couch,” said Geena. The hair loss was not only impacting Geena physically, but also mentally and emotionally. “It was depressing...I missed my hair so much and didn’t want to post any selfies, let alone take any pictures of myself. I was so worried about what people would say about my hair. I was scared that people would think that I was sick,” she said. It was because of her hair loss that she began to do some investigating, trying out different products and remedies until finally she came up with her own formula; one that not only helped with her hair but also with Kareena’s.

After seeing such amazing results, Geena realized what a difference her formula could make for other people who were struggling with hair loss. With that, she decided to bottle the serum and sell it, naming it Aneeraka Oil, using her daughter’s name spelled backwards as inspiration. “I can not say enough good things about this oil,“ said Jessica Gallerno who was struggling with fragile, brittle and dry hair before she started using Aneeraka Oil. “I have been using the oil for almost three weeks now and I can not get over the change already. Not only is my hair looking healthier, I have noticed I don’t have as much hair loss,” she said. Another client shared that she found a big difference in her hair after using Aneeraka oil, which had taken a major hit due to an autoimmune disease flare up and the medication she was taking for it. “I want to share my product with everyone - all the mamas going through postpartum hair loss or anyone, including men, struggling with hair loss or men who just want their beards to look sexy! This oil is for you; it’s for everyone who wants beautiful hair, and the best part is it's all natural,” said Geena. Aneeraka Oil is now available for purchase at www.Aneeraka.com
