COMPLEX CARE
Callum’s story: RETURNING HOME WITH LIVE-IN CARE Agincare is a family-owned care provider that has been delivering affordable, reliable and flexible care across the UK for over 35 years. Our care services suit a range of personal needs, including live-in care, home care and residential care homes.
A
t age 16, while making a stunt video for his Youtube channel, Callum fell 30 feet. He sustained an extensive head trauma and memory loss as well as numerous broken bones and fractures in his spine. Due to his injuries, Callum spent the next two years in hospital. For a year, Callum moved wards as part of his rehabilitation. However, despite making astounding progress, he never felt truly supported. This took a toll on his mental health and his mobility started to decline. His social worker decided to research live-in care.
LIVE-IN CARE Many care companies were not able to meet Callum’s specific needs but through Agincare, he found hope. With live-in care, a trained care worker lives with the individual in their home so to provide 24-hour, personalised support. They can deliver support specific to the person’s needs such as personal care, getting out and about, or companionship. Our live-in care service enabled Callum to move back home. We worked with him and his family to create a bespoke care plan and carefully matched a care assistant to his specific needs.
RETURNING HOME WITH LIVE-IN CARE The move was emotional. Callum sometimes has difficulties processing feelings but his care worker, Pawel, was patient, understanding and considerate as Callum adjusted to the change. Since then, Pawel and Callum have worked together and become friends. Callum has regained some memory and his mental health has improved. His speech has also developed and he is starting to draw and write poetry again. Callum was and still is an adrenaline junkie and, with the help of Pawel, continues to look for activities he can do, such as swimming and going to the gym. With live-in care

these possibilities are endless and Callum once again looks towards an exciting future.
I have my life back to the best it can be, I can see my friends when I want and my family, I have a better sense of stoicism. I am so happy and want others in my position to have the same level of care I have, and most importantly… hope. AN EXCITING FUTURE FOR CALLUM When asked what has been the biggest improvement since receiving care from Agincare, Callum said, “All the staff from the home care and live-in care workers, talk to me like a human being.” Callum also sees his daughter often and, before lockdown, he and Pawel would frequently attend live rock gigs in local pubs and clubs. These activities are the highlight of his week. In his own words: “it makes me feel normal.”
