he activities and the monthly meetings of the Wing Shooters Society are coordinated by our Grand Marshall. It’s one of those positions that looks easy on paper while in reality it is not. To date we have had four members who have held the Grand Marshall position. The first was John Hanner. John was also one of the founders of the Wing Shooters back in 2013 and served for the better part of four years. It was this period of time that established the spirit of our shooting club. Tom Hatton took over the reins for calendar year 2017 during a time of rapid growth. At the end of Tom’s tenure Gene Collins assumed the leadership role and served from 2018 through 2021. Some of the most memorable pre-meetings and meetings occurred during Gene’s leadership. In that time our pre-meetings were still allowed in the bar. Our current Grand Marshall is Frank Robinson. Now in his second year Frank has greatly expanded the range and frequency of our excursions to various shooting venues and hunting preserves.

Each of our Grand Marshalls have guided us in their own style while should contact Grand Marshall maintaining the unique demeanor and camaraderie that characterize the Frank Robinson at: fhr506@gmail.com Wing Shooters. We are a fun and rowdy group which is challenging to lead. If you sat through one of our monthly meetings you would understand. Good natured insults and snappy retorts are the norm. No one gets offended. It takes skill to maintain the edge of control. Too much control kills the spirit. It's at this point I direct your attention to the spelling used for "marshall". Dictionary aficionados will tell you marshall can be spelled with one or two Ls and there is no discernable difference in meaning or usage. In the Wing Shooters there is an informal difference. The second L is a sign of respect. These gentleman, our four Marshalls, have earned it.

PASSPORT CLUB by Dr. Patsy Warmack, President November 9th (Please note this will be the 2nd Thursday of the month): Peter Plumb, Sailing Greenland.
