POETRY
Poetry Corner Kirsty Laifa, from Diss, has written this lovely summer poem inspired by the many wonderful holidays spent with her family on the North Norfolk coast. NORTH NORFOLK
Fish and chips a plenty’, ice
Blakeney is bustling with
North Norfolk
cream and strong mugs of tea
crabbers crowding the wooden uay
oh how love thee
Cli path walks and woody
While others escape on a
rambling trails, linear to the sea
rambling mission
flinty cli s and sparkling sea
Fishermen’s boats bobbing,
heading to the sea
Timeless vistas,
trawling the early days catch
Children slide, slip and slither
magenta sunrises,
Wind turbines sun lit on the
in the creek’s glistening mud
a watery canvas unfolds
distant hori on patch
Making slippery wet slides
ndless seascapes,
down to the river,
Crisp salt kissed air, a treasured gem to behold
Shell patterns and sand castles
giggling with a thud
scatter the beach with watery moats Grandad sat watching the
Kayaks, dinghies and canoes
coloured crabbing pots
tankers, sea jets and pleasure boats
slip silently out with the tide
Children searching for sea
While dad digs a hole to cover
Time to explore the peaceful
urchins, under seaweed clad rocks
the kids in a wet sandy grave
estuary, enjoying a watery glide
A special timeless place that
Seashore children dipping
Peaceful lapping of salty sea
never fails to delight
toes
water and wildlife in the creeks
Memories with our beautiful
be brave
uaint fishing villages and
will they venture in and
The sharp sea air fills your lungs and pu s out your sun
mum in seal searching’ delight Come along to Sti key for a Dressed Cromer crab, smoked
muddy creek surprise
prawns and lobster
kissed rosy cheeks
Walk over the marshes gathering
Life is in slow mo’ here on the
smorgasbord delight
salty samphire supplies
North Norfolk coast
Seagulls whirring above the
Let’s spot an egrit or two at
Simple things based around
erod ding g clli s, precariious in flight
lovely Morston
nature favoured by the most
The striking Cromer pier juts
Sail o to see the seals up the
artistically silhouetted to the sea
winding creek to the sea
a
uay
njoy the nature along this most enchanting shore
Families perched along, crab
Making you come back year
nets cast, whooping’ in glee
after year for more and more.
