CAYMAN’S OUTLOOK
Cayman residents are optimistic about the outlook for 2022. With a new government and almost two years worth of COVID-19 restrictions under their belt, they are ready to move on with their lives and have things return to normal. The Government have said that in January 2022 they will determine whether restrictions on our borders being closed can be relaxed further. This will depend on our vaccination rate, which is one of the highest in the world. The CI Government delivered a Strategic Policy Statement (SPS) to Parliament in July 2021, which offers a broad overview of their long-term policy plan and introduced 10 main strategic outcomes. This document is used to hold the CI Government accountable for the delivery of campaign promises and responsible management of public finances. These include improving education by increasing funding for early childhood education and the reintroduction of A Levels into public schools; ensuring an equitable healthcare system by offering free healthcare to children and the elderly; improving the social development of Caymanians so that they can achieve their full potential; supporting climate change resilience and sustainable development with enforced governance for land use; increasing job opportunities for Caymanians by matching work permit applications with eligible unemployed Caymanians; improving our tourism industry as a product by diversifying Cayman’s tourism markets, expanding Cayman Airways routes and
