Fishing Coffs Coast

Woolgoolga Beach South What is it?

What’s there?

What bait should I use?

Woolgoolga Beach South is a beach and headland. There is great land based fishing off the beach. The headland is not as easy to access.

There is a kids park close by and also the caravan park.

Best bait to use is Beach Worms.

Where is it? The beach is located near the Woolgoolga main street, in front of the surf club.

Off the beach target Bream, Whiting and Tailor and from the headland target Snapper and Groper.

Stay Safe Spot a rip current: Rip currents will occur in deeper water, so it’s usually a darker colour compared to the white breaking waves over a sandbank. Because the water is deeper, there will be fewer breaking waves which can give the appearance of a safer spot to swim.

What lures are best?

What fish should I target?

Lures don’t seem to work as well as bait in this area.

Best time to fish? The best time to fish here is in the warmer months of Spring, Summer and Autumn. This is a great time of the year for the kids also.

What dream fish might I catch? There has been some big Whiting and good size Bream caught here.

For the kids

Great for kids, safe beach, shallow and no steep drop offs.
