Coffs & Sawtell Canyons What is it?

What bait should I use?

Top Tips

A series of ancient underwater canyons on the edge of the Continental Shelf.

Live baits or trolled skip baits work best.

Where is it?

Trolled skirted lures and hard bodied lures.

It's a long way off shore so pick your days and make sure all safety gear is in check and you have ample fuel for the day.

What lures are best?

Coffs Canyons is approximately 15 miles due east. GPS .30. 18. 200, 156.226. Sawtell Canyons approximately 24 miles south east. GPS .30. 34. 600, 153. 22. 800

Best time to fish?

For the kids

Warmer months are generally more productive but pelagics all year round.

Not suitable for young children.

What dream fish might I catch? Large Blue Marlin or big Yellow Fin Tuna.

What’s there? The edge of the Continental Shelf where depth drops steeply from 200m to 500m plus.

Stay Safe Stay alert to weather conditions - monitor the Bureau of Meterology for any severe weather warnings. Stay ashore if warnings are current or the weather appears doubtful.

What fish should I target? Pelagic species such as Blue, Black and Stripped Marlin. Dolphin Fish, Wahoo and big Yellow Fin Tuna.
