“Україна, мабуть, на початку шляху з відновлення своєї квір-культури, яка пригнічувалася й стиралась
- так само, як і в інших країнах, але в певних вимірах ще гірше, бо країна дуже сильно постраждала від колоніалізму. Саме тому ця ретроспектива українського квір-кіно, можливо, перша в своєму роді, відкривається фільмом “Тіні забутих предків” Сергія Параджанова. Обраний найкращим українським фільмом в історії, цей шедевр 1964 року історичний для українського кінематографа й національної історії - і важливо повернути в поле зору квірність цього режисера. Його життєпис ілюструє способи, якими будьяка інакшість пригнічувалася в СССР. Тому прояви квірності рідкісні в українському кіно, і тому наступний фільм у ретроспективі - вже з 1990 року, “Івін А.” - напевне найгомоеротичніший совєтський фільм. Інші стрічки програми - з минулого десятиліття, вони показують розмаїття українського кінематографа й молодого квір-кіно зокрема, яке, однак, уже сягає справжнього пост-ЛҐБТК+ напрямку в “Стоп-Землі” Катерини Горностай.
FR La reconquête de la culture queer en est peut-être encore à ses balbutiements en Ukraine, après avoir été réduite au silence et effacée, comme partout ailleurs, mais le pays a particulièrement souffert des effets du colonialisme. C’est pourquoi cette rétrospective du cinéma queer ukrainien, peut-être la première en son genre, commence avec Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors de Sergei Parajanov. En tête de file des meilleurs films ukrainiens, ce chef-d’œuvre de 1964 est historique tant pour le cinéma que pour l’histoire nationale de l’Ukraine. Et il importe de souligner l’homosexualité de son réalisateur dont la vie représente bien la répression soviétique de l’altérité. C’est d’ailleurs pourquoi on retrouve peu de cinéma ukrainien queer et que le second film de cette série est sorti en 1990. Ivin A. est d’ailleurs probablement le film soviétique le plus homoérotique de son histoire. Les autres films de la rétrospective ont été produits au cours de la dernière décennie et démontrent la diversité du cinéma ukrainien et surtout l’émergence d’un cinéma queer qui a déjà atteint le paroxysme post-LGBT2SQ+ avec Stop-Zemlia de Kateryna Gornostai. has suffered greatly from colonialism. That is why this retrospective of Ukrainian queer film, maybe the first of its kind, is opening with Sergei Parajanov’s Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. Ancestors Voted to the top of best Ukrainian films, this 1964 masterpiece is historic for Ukrainian cinema and national history - and it’s essential to reclaim the queerness of its director. His life story illustrates the ways any otherness had been repressed in the USSR. That’s why queerness has been rare in Ukrainian cinema, and that’s why the next film in this retrospective is already from 1990, Ivin A. - easily the most homoerotic soviet film. The other films in the program are from the past decade, showing the diversity of its cinema and the budding queer film in particular, already reaching as far as proper post-LGBT2SQ+ cinema with Stop Zemlia by Kateryna Gornostai.
