THE ARTS

Summer Solos Concert

This term’s Solos Concert was yet another musical extravaganza and, with most year groups represented, it was a terrific showcase of our many diverse talents and performances. Highlights on the classical side were Soma S (7ADH) and Sumeet S (9CEP), who both performed technically demanding pieces on the violin. On the popular music side, Amaroo B (7MLT) stole the show with a captivating performance of To Make You Feel My Love, a Bob Dylan favourite, complete with instrumental solo moments also played by Amaroo.

Pride of Lyon’s Visit King’s College, Cambridge The Pride of Lyon’s had a fantastic trip to King’s College, Cambridge, where they were fortunate enough to have a chance to watch the College’s world-famous choir in rehearsal as well as enjoy Evensong in front-row seats.

uring the visit, the Pride of Lyon’s performed for King’s’ Director of Music Daniel Hyde. He was very impressed with our pupils’ abilities and offered them some constructive and positive feedback, for which they were very grateful. The trip ended with a visit to King’s Chapel and its exciting features such as

the intricately carved wooden screen dating back to 1532 that divides the Chapel in two. This was an incredible trip for the Pride of Lyon’s and they all very much enjoyed their time at the College learning and hearing from some of the very best in music.

“The tour of Cambridge was so

special. It was amazing to be given an opportunity to attend the King’s College choir’s rehearsal – it was an unforgettable day.”
