Founded in 1976 at the inception of the media arts movement, the Video Data Bank is a leading resource for videos by and about contemporary artists. Located at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the VDB collection includes more than 600 artists and 6,000 video art titles, available to cultural institutions through an international distribution service. VDB fosters a deeper understanding of video art histories through preservation, exhibition and the publication of artists’ monographs.
