How to
the World
By Joel Newman
Konkr is a brand-new business platform catered to Personal Trainers, looking to grow in both a business sense and a personal sense.
T
he main ethos at the heart of Konkr is client management, marketing and offering an accessible medium in which personal trainers can learn how to run a successful business. Having had the pleasure of speaking to the co-founder of Konkr, Neil Henshaw, the passion for Konkr and personal training became clear. Mr Henshaw’s background as a gym operator in addition to the lockdown in March of 2020, has allowed him to reflect on issues within the industry, a major one that he identified was that personal trailers tended to leave after a short period of time. This high attrition led to conversations about finding the route of this problem and deciding how they will help personal trainers. From there, Mr Henshaw, assembled a focus group of ten personal trainers who were all at different stages of their career. This not only allowed the group to discuss their day to day challenges but also explore the diversity between experienced personal trailers and newly graduated personal trainers.

The findings of this group did not lie with the delivery and execution of fitness products or health advice but in fact with the business side of the profession. Moreover, the group also concluded that a solution for the issues already existed albeit aspects of this solution could be found in different places. For instance, when a personal trainer qualifies, in order to find the right way of moving forward, they need to have certain elements in place such as setting up a business bank account, finding insurance, finding an accountant and more business-related areas. However, the issue arises when considering that the majority of personal trainers are freelance and so at this stage it is often that their priorities are finding their first client, and the gym where they will be based. This is where Konkr aims to step in and offer guidance and support for personal trainers, allowing both sides of the job to be managed correctly. In order to achieve this, there are elements that Konkr aims to focus on. These consist of: business services which encompasses business banking, HMRC registration, insurance, managing card transactions, bookkeeping and accounting whilst on the gym floor. Client Management which hones in on the role of nurturing and converting

a potential lead into paying customers. Marketing and Sales which involves the setting up of various social media platforms and how to best utilise them to promote the business. This is a particularly important sector of Konkr because after the banking and the insurance is sorted, it is unlikely that much more action will be needed in the immediate future. Therefore, the Marketing and Sale aspect is vital as it also includes managing clients on a daily basis and forging a community within the personal training profession where Konkr can go the extra mile in supporting continued education and sourcing weekly guest speakers who can offer mentoring for the daily life of a personal trainer, including how to write nutrition plans and insurance against loss on income in the case of an injury plus many more topics. The Konkr platform will offer their subscribers discounts across a range of partners that will include education, apparel, nutrition and equipment. A monthly subscription provides full public liability insurance cover plus all the tools and support you need to build and run a successful and profitable business. The Konkr Website is now live and expects to start conducting business soon - gokonkr.com
