Beware! The Prince is Messy (December 4 - March 30) Thomas Moschopoulos returns to the National Opera, two years after his successful production of "Puss in Boots" and promises a topsy-turvy fairytale for all ages. The comic opera by Nikos Kypourgos, directed by Thomas Moschopoulos who also penned the libretto, is based on "The Swineherd", a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. It is a story of a prince who disguises himself as a swineherd, in order to win the affections of a pretentious princess. At the Olympia Theatre. Morcheeba (December 14) The British group Morcheeba, one of the few new-soul bands to maintain an enduring relationship with the Greek Public, returns to Athens. Their new tour coincides with the release of their new album, "Head Up High". At Gagarin 205. The Nutcracker (December 25 - January 5) The Latvian National Opera Ballet returns to Greece, to present the beloved Christmas ballet based on Hoffmann's "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King". Ελληνικές Θάλασσες (Έως 5 Ιανουαρίου) Στο πέρασμα των αιώνων, η ελληνική θάλασσα, άρρηκτα δεμένη με την ιστορία του τόπου και με τη ζωή των κατοίκων του, δεν έπαψε να εμπνέει ποιητές και καλλιτέχνες. Μετά την εφεύρεση της φωτογραφίας στα μισά περίπου του 19ου αιώνα και έως σήμερα, στις ζωγραφικές αναπαραστάσεις του ελληνικού θαλασσινού τοπίου, προστέθηκαν αναρίθμητες φωτογραφικές εικόνες του ίδιου θέματος. Στην έκθεση παρουσιάζονται 350 περίπου φωτογραφίες χωρισμένες σε πέντε χρονολογικές ενότητες: δεύτερο μισό του 19ου αιώνα, οι πρώτες δεκαετίες του 20ου αιώνα, μεσοπόλεμος, μεταπολεμική περίοδος, εποχή της μεταπολίτευσης έως σήμερα. Greek Seas (To January 5) Through the centuries, Greece and its inhabitants have been indelibly linked to the sea. It has never ceased to inspire artists and poets. Following the invention of photography, in the mid 19th century and to the present day, countless images depicting Greek seascapes have been added to the painted representations of the same topic. The exhibition showcases approximately 350 photographs, divided into 5 chronological sections: the second half of the 19th century, the first decades of the 20th century, the Interwar years, post World War II, the age after the fall of the junta to the present day.
