TT I ME
I first met Batsheva last summer through her mom, Julia Haart, who had invited me to their Hamptons home for lunch one gorgeous summer weekend. It was just a few weeks after I interviewed Julia for an Instagram Live show I hosted for NBC’s Today show. It was Julia, Batsheva, the rest of her siblings, myself, and my brother, Mitchell. Instantly, we felt part of their closeknit family and had the best time with delicious food and new friends. Mitchell and I couldn’t stop talking about how great they were and how much fun we had. They were truly so authentically themselves—lovely, kind, welcoming, and ambitious professionals. Batsheva instantly stood out to me as a fashionforward talent. I felt she had a natural eye for style; she had a sweetness that we don’t necessarily see a ton of in social media stars or celebs, and she felt like a solid role model for how to use your fame the right way. With all that being said, enjoy our interview where Batsheva talks about her upcoming hot girl summer—she’s single now! I’m also super excited for you to read the columns of The Spotters, our expert contributors who are some of the buzziest stars in their respective fields and social media right now—check them out on the left! In this issue, Lindsey Metselaar breaks down how to meet your special someone off the dating apps; Peter Davis writes about the Hamptons tech-craze; Stephanie Nass tells us how to be the host with the most; Dr. Rajeev Fernando shares his journey on the front lines of the pandemic and Ukrainian crisis, and Elizabeth Endres and Dale Borchiver inspire us to workout on the East End. The biggest thank you of all goes to my amazing brand partners who I’m grateful to for bringing my vision to life. Their support of Spotlight is heartwarming, and they’re all the highest-quality brands that I personally love and have a relationship with and want to be a part of your lives as well. We truly have the best of the best collaborating with us this season. There are so many fabulous stores, products, and experiences weaved throughout these pages. Every brand we’re working with understands the power of our generation of highly motivated and successful people making our mark in the Hamptons— and in the world. And finally, a huge thank you to my team for assisting me along this incredibly rewarding journey. The Hamptons is one area of this country where print is alive and well—and it’s truly amazing for all of us to be a part of this industry, together. If you spot me around the Hamptons, make sure to say hi! If there is anyone or anything you think we should know about, feel free to e-mail me (SydneySadick@gmail.com) or DM me on my Instagram pages (@SydneySadick and @Spotlight.Hamptons). nd just like that…summer in the Hamptons is back! But this year, there’s a brand-new beachread magazine that’s targeting Gen Now—and beyond: Spotlight on the Hamptons has arrived! Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with wonderful editors at three of the major Hamptons publications. After a decade of experience that I’m grateful to all of them for, it felt like the time was right to execute an idea that I’ve been flirting with for years—a magazine that targets millennials through content that’s hyper relevant while meeting local appeal. I’m talking all things hot and happening in lifestyle, fashion, food, podcasts, parties, and so much more. Although we’re all obsessed with social media, there’s something about a low-tech read that feels right in the more low-key summer months, and particularly in the Hamptons, where print thrives. Spotlight is being launched to keep you in the know this summer, with a vibrant, trendy, and fresh twist, as well as a stellar lineup of prominent cover stars and contributors! And it all starts right here with our über-exciting premier issue featuring Batsheva Haart, star of Netflix’s My Unorthodox Life.

simply a farmer’s market. Bring a friend, and talk to people. If you’re not outgoing, make sure your friend is! P A WEDDING Don’t be afraid to attend without a +1. P SOUTHAMPTON SOCIAL CLUB It’s called Southampton Social for a reason. It also happens to be frequented by the cast of Bravo’s Summer House.
P SURF LODGE You knew this one was coming, but it truly is one of those places that never gets old. Every time I’m there I see people canoodling. Try to make at least one new friend per visit. P WAITING IN LINE AT AN ICE CREAM SHOP This is actually my favorite place to make a new friend. Complaining always brings people together, especially when it’s about how long the line is that night at Big Olaf (if you know, you know). The most important thing about meeting people IRL, whether you’re in the Hamptons or not, is being aware of your surroundings. Look up when you’re at a bar, make eye contact, and be a yes person who’s not afraid to talk to someone you don’t know or attend an event you’ve never been to before. We spend way too much time buried in our phones when the person we’re looking for is likely right in front of us. T

Wow! Memorial Day Weekend is here. If you’ve been following my podcast, We Met At Acme, or my Instagram, you know that, of course, I’m going to be kicking it off with another friend’s wedding. This one is going to be in the Hamptons, and speaking of the Hamptons, I’m so excited to be a part of Spotlight magazine. Sydney Sadick and I go way back to our Hewitt School days, and I feel honored to be able to share with you my tips and tricks for dating Out East. The Hamptons in the summer offers endless opportunities to meet someone. You’ve just got to know where to go! Here are some of my goto spots for running into that potential special someone: P THE BEACH, OF COURSE What else to do in the summer than hang at the beach? Everyone is in a good mood because they’re getting some vitamin D, so it’s always an opportunity to chat it up with the group next to you, and maybe even suggest a game of Kadima. P A FRIEND’S DINNER PARTY My friend Stephanie hosts a Shabbat every Friday at her house, and I’ve met countless people there. If you host, the key is to make sure you switch up the guests every time. P A SHARE HOUSE I know what you’re thinking, but not all share houses are fratty. In fact, my parents had a share house in Westhampton back in the day

Summer 2022 is all about looking and feeling our best! Two of Instagram’s favorite fitness experts break down the Hamptons workout scene for Spotlight! BY ELIZABETH ENDRES AND DALE BORCHIVER In our early twenties, a weekend trip to the Hamptons consisted of taking the crowded Cannonball train during rush hour to spend a weekend in a packed Montauk share house, with one mission: to party. launched Sweats & The City, an all-encompassing fitness and wellness blog, just around the time when the boutique fitness scene started booming. Our blog launched with a heavy focus on fitness reviews, and the Hamptons quickly rose to the top of the request list. We started hosting workout events and made it a focal part of our summers. When the pandemic hit, the boutique fitness studios closed and left us with the question a lot of New Yorkers were asking: “Will the Hamptons return this summer?” We had no idea what our summer of wellness would become. But instead of leaving our fitness routine and work to chance, we took matters into our own hands and created our own fitness platform, regardless of what would happen next. To solve this, we launched ORRO, a virtual fitness platform with an extensive live and ondemand library of workouts and selfcare classes taught by hundreds of our favorite instructors. We essentially took six-plus years of industry expertise and handselected a highly curated roster. The app is meant to celebrate all the amazing individual methods out there, while offering our community variety and a curation of workouts they can trust and do anytime, anywhere. Many of our ORRO instructors have been longterm favorites we discovered in the Hamptons, and it’s our hope that it’ll come full circle and we’ll host our first ORRO IRL Hamptons event soon! T

Grilled Salmon
INGREDIENTS 4 (6- to 8-ounce) skin-on organic salmon fillets 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing the grates Sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Preheat your stovetop grill pan or outdoor grill over the highest heat. Brush or spray the grates with oil. Rinse the fish and pat it dry with paper towel. Put the fillets in a large bowl and drizzle them with the olive oil. Using your hands, rub the oil evenly all over both sides of the fish. Season with salt and pepper. Place the salmon on the preheated grill flesh-side down first to prevent sticking. Cook for 2 minutes per side for rare (3 minutes per side for medium-rare and 4 minutes per side for well-done). Be patient and resist the temptation to flip sooner or it will stick. Remove the fish from the grill and serve.

We started an emergency field hospital when the Delta variant emerged out of India, offering free care to all. Even though many restrictions
have been relaxed, COVID-19 is not going away. There will be ongoing mutations, which will spur novel variants, so we need to remain vigilant. However, I feel the worst is behind us. Fast-forward, I wanted to further my education in preparedness for future pandemic planning. I accepted a fellowship position in disaster medicine at BIDMC/Harvard Medical School in Boston. Social causes are central and when time permits, I design clothes that have supported the Stop Asian Hate, Black Lives Matter, and LGBT+ movements. On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine on a large scale. I was on the ground on the 28th to volunteer as a physician. Through my charity, we were able to distribute free medicine and supplies and take it to the places most in need. We worked through Russian missile strikes to get our supplies to army hospitals in Kyiv. Humanity must prevail. We have a medical clinic to help refugees in Kyiv with a focus on women’s health, gender-based violence, and PTSD. I’m asking for help to help run this critical refugee clinic, which will save lives in this unfortunate population. Disaster preparedness and global surveillance of emerging infectious diseases are critical in mitigating ahead of future pandemics. Should this occur, it’ll be an honor to return to the front lines and serve. For more information about how you can help, e-mail me at rajeevsantiago@gmail.com and see our humanitarian work at chiraj.org. T

FUTURISTS ARE INVADING THE HAMPTONS
The East End is going high tech this summer! Welcome to the future of NFT drops, Metaverse madness, art shows with a robotic dog that can paint, and both virtual and IRL concerts. Prepare to totally geek out! Here’s what you need to know.

CJ Bøøgatti
Full-on futurist CJ Bøøgatti, who started out as a DJ and club owner in Shanghai, is debuting the “MTRX Meta Mansion” in the Hamptons this summer. “We are renting an estate for a series of events,” Bøøgatti tells me enthusiastically. The Meta Mansion, for starters, will host a tribute exhibition to iconic Hamptons painters like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, as well as a show of new work by buzzy French artist Idriss B, whose ginormous geometric animal sculptures recently took over Park Avenue in Murray Hill. But the techie stuff is really what makes the Meta Mansion so new and exciting. “We will have XR, musical performances, some exclusive NFT drops, and AR features,” Bøøgatti reports, sounding more surfer dude than computer nerd. Stay tuned for the opening in August. Another artistic futurist storming the Hamptons: Polish painter Agnieszka Pilat, who creates bright, colorful portraits of machines and technological gizmos. She sells her work to the likes of telecommunications billionaire Craig McCaw and John Krafcik, who was the CEO of Waymo, Google’s selfdriving-car. Pilat has been called “Silicon Valley elite’s favorite artist.” Her constant, semicanine companion is Spot, her yellow robotic dog. Both Pilat and Spot will be in Montauk this summer at The Surf Lodge,
where she will show new pieces. “Spot is a machine celebrity of sorts,” Pilat explains in an Eastern European accent she hasn’t shaken since moving to America in 2004. “Surf Lodge is a place where a lot of celebs hang out, so Spot totally belongs there.” Hunting for the perfect beach house? Hopefully your cryptowallet is full! Post-pandemic (isn’t it nice to say those words?) real estate prices continue to soar in the Hamptons. I caught up with power broker Bianca D’Alessio, who also steals the show on discovery+’s Selling the Hamptons, for some inside scoop. “The market has been on fire, and with inventory at record-low levels, there’s no sign of things cooling off,” D’Alessio reports. Expect lots of real estate porn and realtor catfights on Season 2 of Selling the Hamptons. “The homes

Last summer’s concerts, in tandem with Amagansett’s legendary venue Stephen Talkhouse, included Nancy Atlas and Winston Irie. “My mom has always had an appreciation for food and cooking,” says Amanda. “She’s traveled the world and finds inspiration for our menu in different places she visits. While she had a great run at Atlantic Avenue, we’re excited to grow our roots at Main Beach.” See you at the beach! T

Summer entertaining is back and better than ever! Indulge in these top tips and gifts for your favorite host. BY STEPHANIE NASS Stephanie Nass

For any occasion—dinner, cocktails, or a swim—guests should bring a gift for their host. On the most basic level, a gift acknowledges the privilege of being invited. Moreover, it’s a token of appreciation for all the energy that goes into creating a welcoming environment. The best gifts are thoughtful, funny, and interesting. Any products with a local tie to the Hamptons are extra endearing. And a strong choice can help you secure a return invite. To avoid a dud, start planning your present as soon as you receive the invitation, putting a focus on your host. A good gift giver is a great listener! If you don’t know your host well, use your imagination. Do a little digging: What color wine does her Instagram tell you she prefers? Remove all price tags, and don’t forget to add a card. Pretty wrapping sets the first impression, so make it strong. I love to bring two gifts— one that can be consumed immediately and another that can be enjoyed forever. Two classic pairs are a cake with a cake cutter or a bottle of wine with an opener. Shown here are my top picks for the Hamptons host this summer. T

Most want to look their best at every age. What are some ways to achieve this? Limit sun exposure, especially during peak hours. Be sure to use products that protect the skin barrier and stimulate new collagen production via advanced cosmeceuticals or by using laser and radio-frequency technologies, which promote skin cell turnover. For millennials who are just starting to think about injectables and procedures, what should they know? The truth is that it’s much easier to prevent aging than reverse aging of the skin. You can start with some light Botox treatments/volumizing fillers, which will stabilize fat pads and ligaments without causing you to have a “blown up” type of
appearance. That will also help to slow the aging process. Is there an age that’s too young to start cosmetic treatments? There’s no perfect or right age to start these treatments because each person is unique. What’s the secret to not getting asymmetrical eyebrows or heavy lids when getting Botox? This is usually caused by an individual’s response to Botox and not using the right dosage for the area treated. Be sure you choose a skilled physician. What are you most excited about at your practice now? Combination technologies that are used for both facial and whole-body rejuvenation. The ability to lessen the aging process with cosmeceuticals, toxins, fillers, and radiofrequency technologies is a key developmental advance. The King of Main
Zach Erdem
If there’s one person we can thank for keeping Main Street in Southampton vibrant and exciting, it’s 75 Main owner Zach Erdem. Never failing to generate buzz, the restaurateur is now letting the world know what he’s all about on his new discovery+ show, Serving the Hamptons. Hit it! BY SYDNEY SADICK
Zach, you’ve owned 75 Main for over a decade. Why did you decide to now let cameras in on what takes place at your restaurant? The restaurant was already like a movie, just without cameras. You walk in and there are so many beautiful and famous characters in one room. A woman who’s a customer [Teresa Sorkin] approached me. She loved how the restaurant is run and asked me to do a reality show. I told her all we need is the cameras. We had a 28-person crew following us all over, and that’s how we started. Most people don’t realize, you were homeless at one point and began as an employee for another Hamptons restaurateur. How are you processing this next chapter in your life? When I opened my restaurant, everyone assumed I was this rich kid or had money behind it. I didn’t even know what an investor was back then. This is the story of a guy who came to America at 11 from Turkey and saw a picture of New York City and had no idea what that was, let alone what a piece of chocolate was. Turkey is beautiful, but I was in areas of the mountains most people didn’t even know existed. I was 20 when I made it. I was the kid who’d never seen anything like New York, so it was a big 30 \ Memorial Day 2022 \ Spotlight
cultural shock initially. What was your first job? I worked for one day at Dunkin’ Donuts in Yonkers. Then I ended up at 75 Main. The manager liked me, and I was a bartender. I didn’t like it, though, because I couldn’t speak English; he put me back in the kitchen and I started washing Cast of Serving the Hamptons
dishes. I worked seven days a week. Then I went to Nello as a busboy and bartender, and then general manager. I worked for [Nello] for nine years, and then I got fired, which was the best thing that happened to me. He
lost his business, and the guy who took over didn’t like me. He told me to get the f**k out, and I did. I called the woman who owned 75 Main, who I worked for nine years earlier as a dishwasher, and I ended up
buying the restaurant from her. For the Hamptonites who have been coming to your restaurant for years, what will they learn that’s different on your show? People will learn my true story.
ALL IMAGES COURTESY
I want people to know who I am. I’m very private about my personal life. You won’t see that on Season 1, but you’ll see more on Season 2. If customers didn’t want to be on camera, we put them in a different location in the restaurant. Everything was smooth and well-run. Some of the biggest reality stars, like the Kardashian family, have dined at your restaurant in the past. What have you learned from them? When the Kardashians came, there was bad energy. Restaurants were throwing them out, people didn’t want them in our village. I was the
only person who sat down with their producers and opened my restaurant for them. I watched them film all day long—Kourtney, Khloé, Scott Disick, and French Montana. I went from watching their show to now being in front of my own cameras! What’s the best piece of advice Foodgod gave you going into this? I’ve known Jonathan [Cheban] for 15 years. He’s a friend and a great guy. We always have fun together. I’d send him screen shots during filming. I’m curious what he’ll think when he sees it.
What are your thoughts on being compared as the male version to Lisa Vanderpump? People will say, “Hi, Lisa” to me [Laughs]. I didn’t even know who she was when my show started. But then once people told me, I learned. I think my restaurants are way more fun. We’re in an exclusive area. Everything is limited. I think I love the restaurant business more than she does; she does other things on the side. I don’t even know if she really works at the restaurant. I think my show will be much better than her’s. Her style is way different from mine. I’m with my people, serving you, cleaning the table, hosting. I do it all. How are you stepping up the restaurant this summer? We’re working on renovating the restaurant with talented people from Dubai and England. It’s going to look very chic. New floor, everything! Different colored bar. What’s been the most memorable moment for you at 75 Main so far? The people I’ve met, like President Joe Biden. He was VP at the time. A woman came up to me while I was sitting with him, screaming at me that she needed toilet paper in the bathroom. I brought it to her, and when I got back to the president and his wife, Jill,

they were laughing so hard. That’s what I love about this restaurant—it’s a place to see people for who they are. What’s next? I just signed the lease for a new restaurant in Greenport in a beautiful hotel called The Menhaden. They have a gorgeous rooftop overlooking the water; we’ll be taking over

food and beverage. The sky’s the limit. Any restaurant I own, I own 100 percent. I don’t have investors. I’m looking to take things global next, with both Dubai and Saudi Arabia. You might see me all over the world in a couple of years! T
Serving the Hamptons is streaming on discovery+.
PLUS!
Meet Victoria Hilton, manager at 75 Main How did you end up at the restaurant? Zach asked me to answer the phone one day, and the rest is history! What’s Zach like as a boss? Oh, my God. He is so fun to work with! He’s a hard worker, and I’m the same way, so we flow very well together. Most dramatic scene to film on the show? Zach’s birthday party—hands down. Favorite item on the menu? The freaking Chicken Parmesan. How’s life changed since the show? I already lived an amazing life. It’s still the same for me. I model and I’ve done movies, so I’m kinda used to all this! Spotlight \ Memorial Day 2022 \ 31

Describe your brand in three words. Celebratory, timeless, and playful! What’s the inspiration behind your Summer and Pre-Fall collections? The Summer/Pre-Fall collection encompasses the new reality of dressing up. Bright florals and vibrant eyelets in softer, flowing silhouettes for a refreshing feel. Fun tassel trims and colorful embroidery are hallmarks throughout. PreFall offers an assortment of transitional solid knits. The evening pieces were designed with summer celebration in mind. How has your brand evolved over the past 20 years? Throughout the years, the brand has grown alongside me. The product has become more versatile as my life has become more complex as a working mother. What is your No. 1 tip for summer dressing? Keep it simple, and colorful. I have a summer uniform— fitted on top with flowy on bottom, or a cotton printed sundress. Easy, chic, and I don’t have to think about it. I throw it on, and I look like I’ve made some effort. What would people be surprised to learn about you? Maybe that I can be shy, and besides being with my family, and a few close friends, my favorite thing to do is be alone with a book. I love to travel alone! T SPONSORED ADVERTISEMENT

Batsheva, how has life changed since starring on My Unorthodox Life? The biggest change is being able to connect with so many more people on a regular basis. I was doing social media before with a [pretty] large following on Tik Tok, so I was used to people knowing me to an extent. Obviously, it’s significantly larger now! What have you discovered about yourself through filming reality TV? How we—as people—are all really the same; experiences I go through [I hope] can inspire others. Everyone goes through life with happy and sad times. Being able to potentially help others out, even if it’s uncomfortable for me, helps drive me.
What would people be surprised to learn about filming a reality show? How real it actually is! A lot of people assume it’s fake drama. We really try to focus on what’s going on in our lives. People constantly ask if the pants fight with [my ex] Ben really happened—it did. It truly was a fight that we had a million times. I really didn’t wear pants until I was almost 27. I wanted to for a bit of time and fought with him about it and people are like, that can’t be. But it was. It’s amazing to think about how significant of a moment that must’ve been for you to wear pants for the first time. What were they? They were Paige jeans with a little flare at the bottom. I got them in the Meatpacking District, and I was so excited because they were the first pair I bought myself versus taking from my mom. I’ve learned a lot about jeans since then! This past year marked a lot of change for you and your family. How do you stay strong through tough times? I’m thankful that I have my family and a great group of friends. They keep me grounded and support me. My circle is very small—quality over quantity. I had to get a new group of friends since my divorce because most were

Are you on dating apps? Yes. Hopefully the summer will change that when people are together more. Has anyone ever recognized you from the show? Never. Sometimes I tell them, but not right away. If we go out more than once they’ll connect it, but I haven’t met a guy who’s seen it, and I like it that way. Who’s your celebrity crush? Theo James without facial hair. What’s a piece of dating advice your mom [Julia Haart] has given you? Have fun, go into things lightly without expectations, and just enjoy the experience. The biggest thing I’m thankful about for my mom, though, is how to make my own money. I’m able to stand on my own two feet, and I was able to make a change in my life without money being a concern because I have my own job. I don’t rely on a man to pay my bills, and that’s a huge thing she instilled in me. She’s all about independence and freedom. Without money, you don’t have that. You were just starting to get brand deals during Season 1 of the show. How has your role as a content creator evolved since? I’ve been able
to work with larger brands and have partnerships. I came out with a capsule collection with The Clear Cut jewelry and nail tips with Paintbucket. Proudest brands include Absolut Vodka, Autotrader (I got to work with my sister, Miriam, and talk about relationships), and a holiday campaign with Kate Spade. What’s one family trait all the Haarts have in common? Our work ethic. We all work hard, and that’s something my parents instilled in us. If you want to succeed in life, you have to put in the work. Your family has been compared to the Kardashians. Which sister do you see yourself in most? I’d love to be

a Kim. She started on social media like I did, and my dream is to have my own line of products and be a family person with kids one day. She embodies all of that.
PLUS! THE HAARTS REFLECT ON BEST MEMORIES WITH BATSHEVA Julia “One of my favorite memories with Batsheva is when we went to culinary school when she was just out of high school. It was so special to me because I got to spend the day with this extraordinary girl who I am lucky to call my daughter.” Shlomo “A constant that I know about Batsheva is for as long as I can remember, whenever I’m feeling down or have an issue, I can always count on her being there for me.”
Miriam “When I was a freshman in college I got mono. Batsheva flew across the country to SF to take care of me while I was getting my strength back. She was being the best supportive big sister, and I’ll never forget how she was there for me.” Robert Brotherton “My favorite memory is from Paris Fashion Week. couple friends. I needed some single friends! Do you feel like you’re starting over right now? This phase feels like a totally new chapter of my life. I feel like I’ve gone through so many evolutions, and this is the one I’m currently in. How have you dealt with so much of your personal life becoming so public? For the show it’s different, but on social media I’m very thoughtful about what I share because I know what I put up will get negative and positive responses. I try to be mindful and know people will have things to say. When it came to my split, I didn’t share anything personal about it but just how I was feeling because I think a lot of people can relate to it. You got divorced this year. Are you dating? I am currently out there dating. Nobody in particular yet, but I’m back on the wagon. Hot girl summer vibes? I’m going to have my first hot girl summer! I’ve never been single before, so it’s exciting. The most important thing I’ve learned is to really focus on my friendships and have the people I’m dating be an addition. It takes away pressure, and that way you’re just open to opportunities. I go into dates with the mindset of, let’s see where this goes, instead of being in a relationship. What are you looking for in your next partner? Someone who is kind, giving, ambitious, possibly an entrepreneur because I like to think of myself as that. It’s nice to relate to somebody. And I want someone who wants to have a Jewish home.
What can people expect to see in Season 2 of the show? The evolution of me being a single woman, something I’ve never done in my life. You’ll see me talk about my divorce, why it ended. We’ll see more of Natalie and Miriam’s relationship this year.
What were your initial impressions of the Hamptons when you first came out here? My first Hamptons experience was the summer of 2020. We had a house in Bridgehampton. I loved the farmer’s markets and coming from the city with all the fresh clean air and being able to go to wineries. How do you describe your Hamptons summer style? My style is different for the Hamptons. I like to wear flowy, floral colorful maxi dresses and patterns and really play up the Hamptons aesthetic. I’m also way more casual. People get dressed up for dinner, but if you’re going “out” you’re wearing shorts and a T-shirt with sneakers; it’s so laid-back. Will we be catching you at the pool or beach this summer? I’m a pool girl, all the way! I’m not a fan of the beach; I don’t like sand. What’s next? We finished filming Season 2. Now I’m going to be getting into YouTube to create longerformat videos. I’ll share what I eat, what I wear, and other specific topics. And I’m looking forward to time in the Hamptons and summer travel with my family as well. T

Power Couple
Husband-and-wife duo Alex and Michael Toccin went from content creators who ran the popular Instagram account and blog Stylists to a T to the brains and talents of two fashion brands—TOCCIN and LDT—that are truly making waves right now. Get to know the couple, who reside between NYC and the Hamptons, as they make this summer their most exciting—and stylish—yet! BY SYDNEY SADICK LDT recently expanded into a lifestyle brand with sunglasses and handbags, too! What pieces is TOCCIN most known for? Our knitwear is a fan favorite, in particular our knit sets, which are a great way to look put together but be comfortable at the same time. Describe your customer. She’s a stylish girl looking for fashionable wardrobe staples. How do you use social media to amplify your brands? Michael and Alex Toccin
How did you both go from content creators to fashion designers? We started our digital platform, Stylists to a T, to help women talk about fashion in an approachable way. This led us to create our first women’s apparel brand, TOCCIN, which was inspired by the wants and needs of the real women who were looking for clothing that was still fashion-forward. 42 \ Memorial Day 2022 \ Spotlight
What’s the concept behind both brands? TOCCIN is a brand that offers clothing that is classic, timeless, and comfortable with a designer aesthetic at an approachable price. LDT is a ready-to-wear brand we launched in 2020 exclusively with Dillard’s. It mixes colorful prints with comfort and ease, reflecting sophistication in a fun and affordable fashion.

brand by showing our customers how easy it is to style our pieces. You originally met in college. What’s it like working together? It’s been amazing, and we truly bring out the best in each other! And now you’re both Hamptons homeowners! We are! We’ve been coming to the Hamptons for more than 10 years and wanted to have a place to spend summers and weekends with our family. How did you land on the decor of the home? We loved decorating our house with Hilary Matt Interiors. From the minute we walked into it, we wanted to make sure that the aesthetic of the decor was soothing, which is why we selected a neutral color palette. We always feel that a neutral vibe in your house allows you to play with colorful art and accessories. What are your favorite summer Hamptons activities? We love being outdoors! Family walks in the mornings, having picnics at the beach, taking our kids to Wölffer Vineyard for music, and heading to Duryea’s for a yummy summer feast. Advice for women who want to develop a comfortable yet chic summer wardrobe? We’re all about having key staple pieces in your wardrobe. This includes a versatile colorful dress that you can wear from the beach to dressing up at night, such as the LDT Claire Dress; elevating your at-home outfits for entertaining with our TOCCIN knit sets; and invest in a couple of statement dress. Do you transport clothes between the city and Out East? We like to try and keep a Hamptons wardrobe and a city wardrobe, but you know, every once in a while you do have to bring things back and forth. What are you working on now? We are continuously working on new collections and categories for both TOCCIN and LDT! T

Zodiac Thrillers
YOUR HAMPTONS HOROSCOPE FOR JUNE
What’s your sign? Our in-house astrologist is sharing her predictions for your early summer escapades! BY NANCY KOAN
ARIES
You can look forward to June beach days filled with all sorts of possibilities for career enhancement. Keep your CV dry in your swimsuit as you cartwheel in the dunes. Do pitch perfectly at cocktail bashes and fall only for the one who’s willing to climb the ladder up with you.
LEO
This month it’s okay to eliminate those fawning fans who don’t appreciate your generous spirit. It’s expansion time. Seek travel, but a share house might not be what you need this year. Leave the shores, but fear not, this is your year for marriage—symbolic or otherwise.
SAGITTARIUS
Never stop horsing around, Sag. With that great sense of humor and those travel legs, you’re likely to laugh with the fairies. But this month, it’s best to sit still in the sand at Coopers Beach and think about what you need. Hang with your family for more meaningful connections. 44 \ Memorial Day 2022 \ Spotlight
TAURUS
Now that Beyond burgers are replacing your own sweet curves, you’re free for fun. Jupiter in Pisces promises you a June of earthly delights that will see you building Gaudi-like sand castles on the beach and batting eyelashes at that hunky lifeguard you always imagined.
VIRGO
The good thing about being a virgin is…is there a good thing? This June, cast off that critical eye for pleasure and tranquility. Adopt a dog—his daily walks will get you out of the house, and he’ll teach you wonders about resting and nonjudgment. It’ll pay off in August.
CAPRICORN
Sea goats, you’re known for all the strength you possess, and you will certainly need it as June pushes you out of your comfort zone. Thinking of a master’s program? This is a great time to go back to school as you continue to soar higher, as only you can.
GEMINI
Twins, stroll the beach and find two shells. One is for your work, which accelerates as the months go on, but the other is for you getting seriously lovey-dovey as June is bustin’ out all over with Venus in Taurus. Dance at The Surf Lodge and it’ll come back to you in spades.
LIBRA
Jupiter moves into Aries in June, so that means anything can happen. You may have to choose between two friends— unexpected romantic windfalls? Think Pete Davidson energy and pace yourself. After all, you love balance, so give yourself a chance to see and saw.
AQUARIUS
While you’re listening to Billie Eilish, your own genius is cooking up ways to make June swing. Your ruler, Uranus, is big in your chart and that means energy expended—some of it quite kooky. Take June time to simmer down, recharge, and let your gray matter cool.
CANCER
No more mulling over Johnny Depp’s probs; the new moon and solar eclipse in Gemini commands you to step off other people’s issues. You’re the most compassionate, but save that juice for a Solstice Day picnic, when all your sensitivity can pull together a major lovefest!
SCORPIO
Hopefully you’ll be by the sea on June 10, when the new moon and solar eclipse turn you upside down with transformative possibilities. You won’t drown, though, as the next day Mars enters Leo and your social IQ jumps 20 points. Flirting will follow!
PISCES
Fish gotta swim, and you can go in two directions. Which will it be? The year will bring challenges, but using your intuition will help you meet them head-on. June quiets down, so dig into that book you’ve been meaning to read. You of all the signs can go deep, so go.

Why do you love summer Fridays in the Hamptons? It’s the start of a perfect weekend Out East. Everyone is fresh from a work week in the city and ready to hit the beach! How have your summers on the East End evolved since you started going as a kid? When my mom bought a house in Montauk in 1999, it was mostly locals with a few OG spots like Joni’s and John’s. To go out to dinner or parties, I was always driving to Amagansett or East Hampton, and now everyone wants to come to me (mostly for Surf Lodge). [Laughs] Montauk still has a special small-town energy, but it’s definitely trendier now than it was when I was growing up. Your Instagram followers love seeing everything from your fashion to eating choices. What’s it like sharing the Hamptons with them? Montauk is my happy place, and I have spent every summer there since I can remember. I love sharing that on social media because my followers know that when I’m Out East, I’m my most authentic, carefree self. There’s rarely a time when I drive out to Montauk with my mom and she doesn’t have a story about a restaurant or secret beach that was part of my childhood. They know all my favorite spots, besides my special surf breaks. What’s your favorite thing to do with your mom [Cynthia Rowley] while here? I’ve been surfing Cynthia Rowley, since I was 12, Keenan thanks to my mom. It’s a time when we can both be away from our phones and work and simply be at the mercy of Mother Nature. Favorite most off-the-grid spot in the East End? There’s a little dock near Westlake that I love jumping off with friends, a driving range I like to go and hit golf balls, and a dive bar with a pool table and great beer—if you know, you know. What are you looking forward to this summer? Cooking at home with family and friends, good surf, tan lines, and dancing into late nights at Surf Lodge! T
