Writer Edward Grinnen has commented that “tomorrow is always uncertain.” So how do we face the unknown future? Sooner or later, we will all come to a place where we have to commit ourselves, our loved ones, our past and our future, our hopes and dreams, our memories and our imaginings—we have to commit it all to God. We will all have to trust God. We will all come to the place of surrender.
It is not easy to surrender everything to God. The word ‘surrender’ suggests weakness, defeat, and hopelessness. It means to give up. It means to stop fighting. It means to come to the end of ourselves. For most of us, that’s not a comfortable place to be. But when it comes to peace with God, surrender is necessary. But rather than being a symbol of weakness it becomes the access point to a new strength, a new courage, a new identity, a new nobility, a new purpose—and a new relationship with God. Peace with God is not merely the cessation of hostilities, but the embracing of a whole new life, a new identity. Here is Grinnen’s quotation in full: “Tomorrow is always uncertain.
