As the first chartered state university in the country in 1785, the University of Georgia has a long and distinguished history in the development and dissemination of the nation’s intellectual, cultural and environmental heritage. The College of Education, founded in 1908, is an integral part of today’s University. Perennially ranked among the nation’s top research-extensive institutes, the College continues to be a center for innovative research, teaching and service projects of local, national and international interest. One of the largest and most diverse institutions of its kind in the nation, the College offers 14 undergraduate majors and more than 34 graduate programs leading to careers as educators, counselors, psychologists, administrators, researchers, educational and health-related specialists.
