Lot 16. Adam Clayton’s Tour-Played Fender Standard Precision Bass. Adam Clayton’s Fender arctic white Standard Precision Bass. Clayton, bassist for U2, played this instrument for performances of the song “A Sort of Homecoming” on the Joshua Tree Tour from May-July, 2017, which included stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Pasadena, Chicago, Rome, Paris and Amsterdam. During the July 12, 2017 concert in Berlin, remembered as a “very rainy” show, this bass was used for the songs “Bullet the Blue Sky,” “Running to Stand Still,” “In God’s Country,” “Trip through your Wires,” “One Tree Hill,” and “Exit.” The bass has an alder body, Fender Jazz gloss maple neck, and Seymour Duncan “Quarter Pound” pickups. The bass exhibits the expected minor nicks, scuffs, scratches, and wear from its extensive concert use. One of Clayton’s original blue picks and his strap are included. The bass comes in a Fender hard shell case with moderate surface wear and identification labels affixed.
