CLÉMENT HUDRY Setting off on the right foot - Levend en wel After highly successfully completing a degree in journalism, Clément Hudry’s could have taken the easy option with several Parisian editors offering him a job. However, his love for his mountains was stronger. Indeed he is as talented behind the lenses as with a pen, so he chose photography of his beloved Aravis. His unique shots portray the mountains at their best and in just a few years he has become a mainstay in alpine photography. Na een briljant afgesloten studie journalistiek was Clément Hudry voorbestemd om met open armen ontvangen te worden op een van de vele Parijse redacties. Maar die hadden niet gerekend op zijn liefde voor zijn geboortegrond! Hij is net zo goed in schrijven als in fotograferen en gaf er de voorkeur aan om zich geheel aan fotografie te wijden tijdens zijn tochten door de Aravisketen. Dankzij zijn unieke foto’s die de esthetiek van de berglandschappen sublimeren, is hij in slechts een paar jaar een referentie op dit gebied geworden.

(lacht) In mei 2019 had ik het geluk de Transvulcania vast te leggen, een Trailloop die zich afspeelt in La Palma, op de Canarische eilanden. Een droomopdracht met twee dagen verkenning op het eiland en prachtige vulkaanlandschappen. En toen verloor ik mijn bankpas. Ik ontdekte het op de dag van de wedstrijd. Dus heb ik van 5 uur ‘s ochtends tot 19 uur ‘s avonds staan werken, in een verstikkende hitten van de ene naar de andere spot rennend, zonder dat ik iets te eten had en met heel weinig te drinken. Aan het einde was ik uitgeput en heb ik me samen met de deelnemers op het laatste proviand gestort. Ik was er slechter aan toe dan een aantal van hen!
