od’s prophetic word to us as we stepped into 2022 is Restoration for His Mandate We rejoice at having resumed on-site services without size limitations or safe distancing regulations. We were able to have the whole Trinity family, young, younger and youngest together at Life Conference (pg 90) in Trinity@Paya Lebar. Many Connect Groups have also resumed meeting in homes. Even as we live in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world, know that the move of God cannot be constrained. During the height of the pandemic in early 2020, God enabled us to press on in the Decade of Expansion by launching Trinity@Melbourne and Trinity Broadcast TV. Today, as the world emerges from the pandemic, there may be wars and escalating financial recessions. But, stay focused on God’s truth and promises. Faith enables us to see what God sees. Faith aligns us to God’s greater plan. Faith propels us into His greater. Looking back, early Trinitarians did not have money in the bank for our first home, but faith propelled them to build for generations (pg 36). Soon, we will have four properties locally to call home. And God still has greater in store for us! We look forward to our one church gathering in three centers (Trinity@Paya Lebar, Trinity@Adam and Trinity@Bukit Batok) in January 2023 when Trinity@Adam opens. And we await the completion of Trinity@Choa Chu Kang for the congregation at Trinity@Bukit Batok to move into next year. More than buildings, these properties that God has given us are storehouses for the harvest. Every harvest requires workers. Whether it’s to be a Spiritual Parent (pg 44), serve in Ministry Expressions (pg 51) or join Trinity as full-time staff (pg 56), it takes every one of us to put our hands to the plough so that the storehouses that God has given us will be filled. We are called to live out His Mandate. Allow God to expand our faith. Let us press heavenward for our prize, continue to run our race, and build His House for generations.

After being Lead Pastor for 18 years, Pastor Dominic will hand over the church leadership to Pastor Gerald Tan in March 2023.

TRINITARIAN EXPERIENCE BLUEPRINT

Without succession, there is no success. As much as leadership transition is important in governments and businesses, it is also crucial in the church for its Trinitylongevity.isnot new to having Kingdom continuity plans. The first was the successful Change of Command from our first Missionary Lead Pastor, Rev Naomi Dowdy to our first National (Local) Leader Pastor, Rev Dominic, in 2005. 08

Under Pastor Dominic’s leadership, God downloaded the blueprint for the Trinitarian Experience – where everyone who comes through the doors of Trinity would Encounter God and Experience InTransformation.theearly2000s, Trinitarians embraced God’s vision for Trinity to have a Vibrant Atmosphere, Incredible Unity, Passionate Heartbeat and Strategic Leadership through growing our God-given Core Values (Passionate Honor, Audacious Fervor, Relentless Belief, and Contagious Faith).

As we pursue our Vision and live out our Core Values, Caring and Connecting becomes our culture and in so doing, creates the Trinitarian Experience.

“God is the God of the Generations. The moment we stop preparing for the next generation, we begin the process of extinction,” said Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo as he revealed his leadership transition plan. Since he became Lead Pastor in 2005, Pastor Dominic has been on the lookout for his successor. “Lead pastors don’t just pop out of nowhere. It requires intentional discipleship and prayer,” he noted.

PRAYER FOR A STRONG CHURCH

Trinity will continue to be Pastor Dominic’s home church while he focuses on serving the larger church worldwide with his various portfolios in the Assemblies of God and the Pentecostal World Fellowship.

Trinity has always been blessed to be a blessing. We cannot stop being a blessing. Releasing Pastor Dominic to step into his next season will be a greater blessing to the Church at large. “I never expected to be part of such a succession. I am a simple man who just wants to serve God faithfully. However, any opportunity to serve the Lord and His church is a privilege and I will always do my best in obedience,” said Lead Pastor Designate Pastor Gerald.

Issue 2 2022

“My prayer for Trinity isn’t to be a big church, but a strong church,” said Pastor Dominic when he took over as Lead Pastor. Over the last 17 years, Trinity has grown from strength to strength. Strong in hosting the presence of God, strong in convictions, and strong in leadership and discipleship. Today, Trinity has expanded to be a church of global impact, a 10,000-member church owning four properties in land-scarce Singapore, a strong missions program impacting 60 nations, launched broadcast tv and radio to reach a global audience, and established three growing regional centers in Bangkok, Jakarta and Melbourne.

“I thank God for His grace and the wisdom placed upon us in this Change of Command. Indeed, I believe it is in God’s timing that He is bringing a season of change.

I believe Pastor Gerald is indeed God’s man for the season and I pray that a double portion of anointing shall be passed on from Pastor Dominic to him as he leads Trinity into God’s purposes.”

“I joined the Board in 2005, the same year Pastor Dowdy handed the leadership of Trinity to Pastor Dom. His skillful leadership has brought about a strengthening of relationship between the Board and Lead Pastor, helped us to successfully navigate the changes in regulatory framework and facilitated the church to grow from strength to strength over the years. As I look forward to 2023, I am energized and confident of another God-led succession. Not only is Pastor Gerald a son of the house, he’s a God-chaser whom I believe God has prepared for a time such as this. As he leads us forward from 2023, it will be onward and upward as we see God’s agenda for Trinity to touch so many more lives being fulfilled in the coming days.”

Just as He promised in Isaiah 43:18-19, He is doing a new thing. As it springs up, I believe with the Change of Command, the great that Pastor Dominic brings will transit into an even greater expansion and restoration of the Kingdom of God through Trinity Christian Centre.

“I thank God that He has placed the Elisha anointing upon Pastor Gerald. Being an anointed preacher of the Word, he carries the prophetic insight into the very heart of God for Trinity.

Now, it is even more meaningful to see my former Youth Pastor step up to lead the Church as Lead Pastor Designate. Having been deeply blessed by his ministry and love, I believe God will use him powerfully to lead Trinity in the destiny God has for us as a church.”

Grace Yong, Brand Director

“I didn’t expect the Change of Command to be happening so soon, but I’m confident that great things are in store for Trinity. God’s hand has always been on Trinity since its birth in 1970. Trinitarians can be confident that as they stand alongside Pastor Gerald and the new leadership team, they will see the fulfilment of God’s prophetic words for this house as well as His plans for our individual lives.“

“As a Trinitarian of 33 years and Systems Engineer in Trinity for 25 years, I've experienced having ‘mama’ being my Lead Pastor, my ‘big brother’ becoming my Lead Pastor, and in the days to come my ‘younger brother’ taking over. As Pastor Dom always says, ‘our destiny is tied to the destiny of the house’ and we need to keep our eyes firmly on Jesus and not entertain divisive

Through the leadership transitions, it is important to see God’s hand at work in this House and come into alignment with His divine plans so that we can collectively step into His divine fulfillment for our lives.”

“This second change of command is truly a testament of God’s faithfulness and grace upon Trinity through the years. It was momentous to witness the change of command from Pastor Dowdy (the only Lead Pastor I ever had then) to Pastor Dominic, my CYC (Children-Youth-Campus) pastor then.

GREATERRESTOREDFOR

In doing so, He restores us for the greater.

KEY #1: THERE IS SOMETHING GREATER IN GOD There is something greater in God! Can you believe it? Are you excited about it?

o experience God’s restoration for our lives, it is paramount that we glean three keys from Joshua 1:1-11 and live them out.

The reason why many of us do not live in the miraculous, walk in the supernatural, and do the impossible is because we have failed to recognize that He has something greater for us.

Biblical restoration is not only about God taking something old and returning it to a better state. It is about Him exchanging something old for something new. He takes that which is ugly, depressive, and sad and does a divine exchange for something beautiful.

For God to restore us for the greater, we must first align ourselves with His vision for our lives. T

Life’s challenges take a toll on us, disappointments discourage us, and failures wear us out, causing us to settle for far less than what He intended to bless us with.

envision Issue 2 2022 God has something greater in store for you and He is restoring you for the greater!

Issue 2 2022

The Israelites had spent 40 years in the wilderness without inheriting the Promised Land. In Joshua 1:1-5, God showed Joshua the land and told him to ”get ready to cross the Jordan”. It was a huge mission and vision. During one of our past Israel Pilgrimages, I had the opportunity to go up Mt Nebo and saw the expanse of the Jordan River and the Promised Land. It was a grand sight to behold.

Aligning with the vision of God means coming into agreement with it. When I got saved on June 9, 1980 at an evangelistic meeting led by the late Reverend Fred Seaward, I prayed to Jesus, “I will do anything for you. I will go anywhere for you.”

As I witnessed the vastness and richness of the land, I was overwhelmed by it and felt tiny in comparison to it. And I could almost imagine how Joshua must have felt.

Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.'"

As I grew older and matured in my faith, I realized that this was a dangerous prayer to pray. When God called me into the ministry and gave me a vision of preaching over different pulpits in different nations, I was hesitant about the call. I told Him to wait. I felt the call was not for me as I did not want to be a “poor pastor”. I wanted to become a rich businessman and earn millions. But Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a great future and plan for our lives. If I did not align myself to His vision, I would not have experienced the greater things that He created and saved me for. Sometimes, we can get apprehensive when God unveils His vision for our lives. If we stay in the realm of our comforts and preferences, we will not fulfil our potential. We will not experience the life of miracles, signs, and wonders and the greater things that Jesus intended for us to do (John 14:12).

Alignment is about being God-focused instead of being man-focused. When God called me to the ministry, I struggled because I focused on myself and anticipated that if I followed His call, I would become a poor pastor and would never be able to get married. Instead of being man-focused and earthly-minded, we need to be encouraged by God’s greatness and His ability to do the impossible in and through our lives.

Alignment is about yielding to God instead of yielding to our anxieties and fears. Yielding to God means we will our will to the will of God. Very often, when God wants us to step into greatness, we get inundated with our fears and never take that step. Instead, we need to be still before Him and allow His supernatural peace to flood our hearts and minds so that we submit to His purpose. Alignment is about embracing what God has for us instead of fighting it.

I have been immensely blessed by God since I entered full-time ministry on July 1, 1985. God has poured out His bountiful blessings on envision 14

ALIGNMENT TO THE VISION OF GOD

God’s vision for us can be so great that it overwhelms us. But we can learn from Joshua’s response in verse 11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, 'Get your supplies ready.

fruits of faith – godly success, fresh zeal for God, and His blessings, peace, and joy. The Word of God is the divine promise of heaven. When God spoke to Joshua, it was the promise of heaven to him. It was as if He said to him “Just as I have promised Moses, so shall it be for you.”

The Word of God carries the weight of heaven. Isaiah 55:11 tells us that His Word will not return to Him void but will accomplish the purpose for which He spoke it. Just as how companies back up their products with a guarantee, God backs up His Word with His authority and ability to bring it to fruition. envision 15

The Word of God is the manifestation of heaven. For example, Isaiah 26:3 tells us “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” When we declare this verse into our lives, the chaos that we are experiencing on the inside is replaced by a supernatural peace that calms us.

ALIGNMENT TO THE WORD OF GOD

Issue 2 2022 the pastoral staff and in ways that exceed our understanding. The more I embraced His vision for my life, the more miracles I experienced. Earlier this year, I accepted an invitation to minister for Pastor Aaron Partington at Life Church Wirral in Liverpool. He needed some support after the sudden expansion of his church. As soon as I said “yes” to him, somebody from his church called to tell me that they had two free tickets to a Liverpool game with access to the hospitality suite. When we embrace what God has in store for us, we put ourselves on the path of supernatural blessings.

There is a big difference between the deliberate receiving of the Word and the plain hearing of it.

The Church has not been walking miraculously as much as it should be because its members are just plainly hearing the preached Word. When we are apathetic, tired, familiar, or even have a certain preference concerning who preaches that week, we can tune out and everything just becomes soundwaves. Such plain hearing will block the seeds of faith and produce apathy and a lack of faith in us. Subsequently, we are not transformed by the Word and don’t come into closer assignment with Him. Conversely, when there is a deliberate receipt of God’s Word, there will be faith. Romans 10:17 tells us “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Deliberate receiving will produce the kind of faith that manifests in the

ALIGNMENT TO THE PLACEMENT OF GOD We also must accept God’s allotment for our lives. God has a placement for those who He calls. And who does He call? All of us. Each of us has been called from darkness into everlasting light. He declares that we are the head and not the tail. He proclaims that we are the beloved and not the cursed. He regards us as His children and not orphans. We must allow God the Father to place us. The problem with us sometimes is that we strive very hard to get into a particular company position that we want and end up being distracted from Him. Worse, our efforts may end up being unsuccessful. Instead, trust Him to place you according to His great destiny for your life. And when He places you, He will position you. Joshua never desired the position of Israel’s leader. He was faithful to Moses as his aide. But God placed him to position him.

Trust Him to place you according to His great destiny for your life. And when He places you, He will position you.

Issue 2 2022

“Moses my servant is dead” (verse 2) also meant for Joshua and the Israelites that the old season, old position, and old authority had gone. The new had come. Likewise, I declare that a new season is upon you so get ready to receive it.

Issue 2 2022

WILLINGNESS TO STEP OUT We must be willing to step out of our comfort zones to step into greatness. Joshua was used to being Moses’ aide. He was constantly walking in his shadow. But when God called him to lead the Israelites after his predecessor’s passing, it was time to emerge. As he willingly and courageously obeyed God’s call and led His people towards their conquest of the Promised Land, Joshua experienced great victory over the foreign nations. His courage and boldness saw him and his people into the greater. When we say “yes” to God’s leading in our lives, we put ourselves on the path to greatness. God begins to ordain our steps, and we move closer to our God-given destiny. Like Joshua, we are also all called to lead, men and women alike. Strategic leadership does not necessarily mean becoming a Connect Leader in church but rather, it is centered on becoming Spirit-filled leaders who impact our spheres of influence for the Kingdom of God.

KEY #2: YOUR BOLDNESS AND COURAGE WILL SEE YOU INTO THE GREATER In Joshua 1:6-9, God commanded Joshua to be courageous for a total of four times which speaks of great emphasis. There are four areas we need to be bold and courageous in so that we can be restored for the greater.

DEDICATION TO STAND AND DO THE WORD Joshua 1:7 tells us to dedicate ourselves to obeying God’s Word and be steadfast in doing so. To stand and do the Word is to live by it, allowing it to order our steps in a world of Thereuncertainty.arethree vital characteristics of the Word of God: The Word of God guides us. “You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.” - Psalms 73:24

The Word of God illuminates our paths. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” - Psalms 119:105

The Word of God directs us. “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.” - Psalms 119:113 When we live by God’s Word, we will not be confused and stressed. We will not trip unnecessarily. Rather, it puts us on the path of success so that we can claim the great blessings of God for our lives. He always guides us towards greatness through His Word.

envision 18Issue 2 2022

TENACITY TO COMMIT TOTALLY TO THE WORD

We often stand and do the Word only momentarily. But courageously committing to it elevates us to a greater level. Notice that verse 8 refers to the “Book of the Law” compared to just “all the laws” in verse 7. God commands us to obey the entirety of the Bible and not just selected verses. The fruit of such radical obedience is the double blessing of being “prosperous and successful” (v8) and not just “successful” (v7). What does it mean to commit to the Word totally? It can be defined as: Speak it + Think it + Do it = Live it We speak the Word just as God told Joshua not to let it depart from his mouth. 1 Peter 4:11 says “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.” Instead of declaring the facts of life, speaking negatively or worse still, cutting other people down, may our words bless them. Our words should lift people out of their despair instead of sinking them deeper into it. We think the Word and let it saturate our minds by meditating on it day and night. It is paramount that we be intentional in pondering on its truths and principles so that it shapes our thinking and worldview. The result is that we will become the successful person described in Psalm 1:3, “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” We do the Word when we conscientiously obey everything that is written in it. When we are doers and not just hearers of the Word, we will be blessed in what we do (James 1:25). We will live transformed lives for the glory of God. Altogether, speaking, thinking, and doing the Word equates living it out. As we tenaciously align ourselves fully with the life-changing truths of the Bible, we will see the greater things that God has in store for us.

QUIET CONFIDENCE IN THE JOURNEY God is with you. That means He is alongside you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). When a child is going through a storm in life, there is immediate peace and assurance when Daddy or Mummy comes to hold their hand and walk the storms with them. God will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Even when we go through the darkest valleys and experience deep longings for our prayers to be answered, we can still be brave because the Father is with us. He watches over you all the time. God’s watchfulness assures us that He will not fail us. He is there whenever we fall, step into a difficulty, or experience a brewing storm in life. Therefore, having this in mind, we can be bold and courageous while going through life's journeys!

KEY #3: PREPARATIONYOUR IS READINESS FOR THE GREATER

The final key to being restored for the greater has to do with preparation and readiness. In Joshua 1:10-11, Joshua got the people to get their supplies ready as they will be crossing the Jordan River in three days. Preparation is not denying the Spirit but walking with the Spirit. Once again, Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a great future laid out for us. In order to experience the fullness of that future we have to partner with Him and be eager to do His will. When you are not prepared, it is difficult to be ready. When you are unprepared, you will not be ready. When you are ill-prepared, you cannot be ready. Your readiness is important for it is the hallmark of greatness. God intended for the Israelites to possess the rich and bountiful Promised Land after crossing the Jordan River. It was their God-given destiny to do so. But they had to first prepare for the trip by getting their supplies ready. We must be ever ready to live out God’s will. Before He can launch us out for the greater and into the complete fulfilment of His abundant promises for our lives, we must zealously partner with Him in obeying the commands of the Bible. Before He can entrust us with more, we must be good stewards of the opportunities in front of us. There is no room for procrastination. The Bible tells us to be ready in four crucial ways: Even when we go through the darkest valleys, we can still be brave because the Father is with us

envision 19Issue 2 2022

READY TO GIVE AN ANSWER FOR YOUR FAITH 1 Peter 3:15 tells us “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Whenever somebody asks you about why you are still joyful and hopeful amid the challenges of life, it is an opportunity to testify about the Giver of Life. Share your personal testimonies of how God has miraculously seen you through the trials of life and answered your prayers in remarkable ways. Eagerly proclaim how He has brought you from darkness to everlasting light. Never be ashamed about what Christ has done for you and in you. As you testify about His glorious work in your life with “gentleness and respect,” the Spirit will work in the hearts of your loved ones and colleagues to bring them towards salvation.

READY TO PREACH In 2 Timothy 4:2, Paul writes “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.” Preaching the Word extends far beyond ministry behind the pulpit and is certainly not just the responsibility of full-time ministers. It is the responsibility of every believer. As children of light living in a dark and fractured world, we are to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ “in season and out of season” –all the time. In a time when fake news and worldly philosophies abound in our society and when Christianity seems unsavory and even outdated, we must stand firm on the work of Christ and proclaim the one name “under heaven given to all mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

READY TO HARVEST Jesus gave his disciples a clarion call in John 4:35, “Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” He was restoring the spiritual vision of His disciples to see that the Samaritan townspeople were ready to encounter and receive Him as their Lord and Savior. Likewise, we need to have faith that our pre-believing loved ones are fields ripe for harvest. Not just a few heads of grain but fields. Do you believe that God has destined your households, offices, Connect Groups (CGs), and Trinity for greatness? Let us press on,, “for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9).

READY FOR HEAVEN Matthew 24:44 tells us “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect.” Heaven is the ultimate greatness. This world is not our final home; we are citizens of heaven! Do you long to hear the precious words “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21) from your Master when He calls you to give an account for the short life you lived on Earth? Do you desire to see all your loved ones rejoicing in the riches of heaven and worshipping God forever alongside you? We must desire heaven. We must be ready for heaven. So, let us seize every opportunity to live the abundant life here on Earth as we prepare for an eternity with Jesus! Your preparation must be complete. Stepping into the greater requires journeying with God so that we become special vessels useful for His special purposes (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Your preparation involves others. If you are currently not in a CG, do sign up to join one. The CG is a spiritual family given by God to spur us on in our faith. It is also an avenue where we can grow in discovering how He has shaped us and harnessing the gifts and talents He has bestowed upon us. So church, let us get ready for the greater. There is always something greater in the Lord. Do not be satisfied with the world or status quo but come into alignment with His vision, Word, and placement.

There is somethingalwaysgreater in the Lord.

Finally, have a deep sense of readiness. Preparation puts us into a place where God can use us for the greater things He has in store for us. It is time for us to be restored for the greater!

KEYRESTORATION BY LEAD PASTOR DOMINIC YEO

1 Kings 1:10-16 unveils for us three principles that are integral to using the master key of giving. 1 23Issue 2 2022

envision In many of our homes there is a master key. This master key can open the door to every room. There are also master keys that are used to ignite the engines in vehicles or to open safes. Likewise, there is a master key of restoration. Biblical restoration goes beyond the English dictionary’s definition of taking something that is in a poor state and restoring, renewing, and transforming it to its original state. It is about God taking something and making it even better than its original state. Kings 17:10-16 shows us that the master key of restoration is giving. The widow was living in abject poverty. She was collecting sticks to make her final meal for her and her son. She was in a place of survival but at the tail-end of this story, we witness God’s restoration in her life after she wielded the master key of restoration – which is giving. She and her family were abundantly blessed by God with a jar of flour and jug of oil that did not run dry until the Lord poured out rain on the land. To unlock God’s restorative work in our lives we must practice giving. Giving is the motif, pattern, way, and very secret of heaven.

John 3:16 tells us that “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus gave His life so that salvation could come into our world. So, giving is the motif of heaven. When we practice the motif of heaven, we will see the manifestation of heaven in our lives. We will experience an open heaven and the raining down of His supernatural provision on our lives. God wants us to use this key that is already in our hands. As we do so, He will restore us to a better state so that we become a greater blessing to our spheres of influence.

The movement of going signals a willingness to give When Elijah first encountered the widow at Zarephath, he asked her for a little drink, and she heeded his request immediately by going to get it. To us who have easy access to water, this might not seem like a big deal at all. But when we dig deeper into the context of 1 Kings 17, we will better understand why willingness is the key to trigger.

Issue 2 2022 envision 202224

Elijah had just declared to King Ahab that “there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word” (1 Kings 17:1).

The widow’s movement of going to get water for Elijah was a sign of her willingness to give. She burdened herself to find a drink for the prophet. That willingness sparked the whole explosive momentum for God’s amazing restoration in her life. Willingness begins with a movement. God’s restorative work begins when we are willing to give and be stretched beyond our comfort zones. When we move, God will move. Willingness to give something scarce is an indication of generosity and faith Willingness is also a disposition, posture, and spirit of generosity and faith that God is looking for. During the famine and drought, the widow had the willingness to find water and the generosity to share with Elijah. I am reminded of the widow in Mark 12 who gave two coins, but it was all she had. Their sacrificial giving was an indication of their faith in God for their lives. God looks for your willingness to give and not your ability to give What is your willingness quotient like today from a scale of 1-10? You can have the ability to give but if you are not willing, you will not open the doors to the blessings of God for your life. You can have a great capacity to give but if you are not willing to do so, you will not experience the manifestation, miracle, and manna of the Kingdom of God. Far more important than our ability to give is our willingness to do so.

The land was undergoing a severe famine and extreme drought which meant that there was no water in the wells. Water was now a scarce commodity. It was a great inconvenience to search for water to drink and use.

TO GIVE TRIGGERS

PRINCIPLE #2: GIVING THAT COSTS YOU SOMETHING ALWAYS ATTRACTS GOD TO YOU As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread."

Willing giving, not grumpy giving 2 Corinthians 9:7 tells us that “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Why does God specifically state “a cheerful giver”? It is because there are grumpy givers! Unfortunately, there are people who grumble when it comes to offerings, tithes, and faith promises. If you give grudgingly, it’s better not to give. Joyful giving brings joy to God’s heart which releases the harvest of his blessings into our lives.

Issue 2 2022 envision a little flour and oil left. A huge sacrifice was being asked of her. When she “went away and did as Elijah had told her” (verse 15), she was exercising faith in God, that He will provide for her and her son through Elijah. One of the major tests of Christianity is about exercising great faith when we are prompted by God to give sacrificially. In Genesis 22, Abraham was to take his one and only son and sacrifice him on Mount Moriah as a burnt offering. It would cost him dearly. But Hebrews 11:17 tells us that “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.” Consequently, God rewarded his faith with the promise and oath that He would bless him tremendously and multiply his descendants beyond Similarly, measures.givingthat costs us immensely is an expression of our faith in God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please God”. Therefore, “faith-full” giving attracts heaven towards us. We are trusting God with what we do not have now. When that happens, God is pleased and that’s when the blessings overflow, the provision pours out, and the manifestation of His grace occurs in our lives.

- 1 Kings 17:11 Sacrificial giving is faith in action When Elijah asked the widow to bring him a little water, it did not cost her as much as the request for bread. But after the prophet, who represented the messenger, manifestation, and headship of God, requested a piece of bread, she hesitated and told him that she only had FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR ABILITY TO GIVE IS OUR WILLINGNESS TO DO SO.

It is never about the amount but the act. God does not need our money. He owns “the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalms 50:10) and He does not lack anything for “The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalms 24:1). What is more important to Him is what is in our hearts when we give. In the eyes of Jesus, the widow who gave two coins in Mark 12 gave more than those who gave a bigger offering. The widow gave just a “measly” two very small copper coins that would not be even worth a penny today. It only amounts to a fraction of one cent. The rich gave “large amounts” and “out of their wealth” which can be translated as giving out of the excess of their wealth, out of the overflow of their abundance. They gave their excesses to God. The widow sacrificially gave out of her poverty and threw everything that she had into the temple treasury. The two coins represented the entirety of her life. Like the widow in 1 Kings 17, she willingly gave what was life to her without knowing when her next provision would come. Such earnest devotion and wholehearted sacrifice pleased Jesus greatly. The amount might have envision been nothing in people’s eyes, but such an act meant a lot to Him. Similarly, when I entered full-time ministry on June 1, 1985, after working in the Republic of Singapore Air Force for several years, I had to take a major pay cut. I expected not to get married as a result. Thankfully, I had accumulated some savings prior to entering the ministry which helped to partially provide for my daily needs. However, God stretched me in my giving when a 300-strong team from an Assemblies of God church in the United States flew in for the Masters’ Plan. Trinity as a local church financed them and it was then that God prompted me to sow my entire life savings into the project. So, I gave without knowing what was next. Like the two widows, I gave without the motivation of returns. In today’s world, there is a lot of focus on Return on Investment (ROI). People invest a dollar and expect 10 dollars in return. They contribute 10 and expect it to multiply into 100. They expend 100 and look forward to reaping 1,000 in return and so on. Now, Luke 6:38 does promise us with “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, 202226

TRUE GIVING THAT STEMS FROM A HEART OF SINCERE GENEROSITY CAPTURES HIS ATTENTION.

Likewise, when we give generously to God from a place of authentic joy and delight, He answers mightily from heaven. He looks beyond the amount to peer into what is in the depths of our hearts. And when we wield the master key

envision Conversely, when one puts in coins just like the widow sacrificially did with her two copper coins, the coins would produce a ringing sound as they wind down the box. Surely the Pharisees and scribes would have stared at her with disdain. But when Jesus heard the sound her coins made, it was music to His ears. It brought delight to His heart. In His eyes, she gave more than the religious leaders. When we give without sincerity, the sound that we make is a discordance. But when we give from our hearts, we create a melody of heaven. When we give without joy, we disrupt the music of heaven. But when we give with delight, we harmonize with heaven’s music. 27 of giving, it opens the windows of heaven so that the supernatural blessings of God can be poured out onto our lives. Real giving creates the melody of heaven Returning to the story of the widow’s two coins, the Pharisees gave to attract others’ attention while the widow gave out of her heartfelt worship towards God. In first-century Judaism, the temple treasury’s offering box was designed such that when a person puts a note in it, the note will slide down with minimal noise. pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap.” That’s a biblical principle. But giving from a mindset fixated on ROI is giving that is based on the motivation of greed which repels God. Conversely, true giving that stems from a heart of sincere generosity captures His attention. When I sowed everything into the Master’s Plan, I attracted Him and subsequently the miracles, manifestation, and manna of heaven came into my life. God provided for me in unexpected ways. Firstly, every day Trinity provided a vehicle to pick up the guests between the church and their place of stay. Amazingly, my house was on the way and so I could save up on my transport expenses. Secondly, there was a lot of leftover food and so as a ravaging young man, I consumed everything and had my fill. God provided for my needs in miraculous ways when I sought His Kingdom and righteousness first (Matthew 6:33).

It is never about what others perceive regarding the amount we give. All that matters is pleasing our Father and when He is pleased with our giving, He will fill up what is lacking in our lives until it overflows!

The woman admitted that she did not have anything except “only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug” (verse 12). Even though she was at the tail-end of her life, Elijah told her to prepare a meal for him first before doing so for her son and herself. The man of God prompted her to give to him before anything else. To experience God’s restoration, we must give to Him first. We do so through our tithing and setting aside finances to fulfil our vision and mission faith promises. When that happens, the miracles of God’s provision will follow. It is when we bring the whole tithe in God’s storehouse that He will “throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it” (Malachi 3:10). Our acts of generosity towards Him completes the miracle. I experienced God’s miraculous provision after giving to Him at a conference on spiritual warfare and intercession in Guatemala years ago. Back then, I traveled with a cash advance from the So, I emptied everything – what was in my wallet, pants, and even shoe – and placed it into the offering bag. Yes, even shoe! Whenever I travel, I disperse my money all over myself so that I can still have something left if I am robbed. As I walked back to my seat, God said “Open your wallet”. I was doubtful as I had just given everything that I had. But when I opened it, there was a miracle! All the dollar notes that I took out of it to give just moments ago were there! I dug into my pants and removed my shoe, and everything was exactly what I had placed into the offering bag. It was the manifestation of His presence and the releasing of manna from heaven into my life. If I did not give everything that I had as prompted by God at that moment, I would not have experienced His miraculous provision. Today, I still keep the original US$100 note that was in my shoe as a token of reminder to believe for the impossible for the church and those in need because if God could do that for me in Guatemala, He can do anything. envision 202228 Missions Department. I flew into Guatemala with borrowed funds from the church. During a time of giving, God prompted me to give everything. I wrestled with him as I struggled to give what belonged to the church and what was my sustenance during the conference. The sea of people gradually moved forward from the seats as they gave passionately to the ushers standing in front. Soon after, I found myself before an usher and God spoke to me, “Everything, son”!

PRINCIPLE #3: GIVING WHAT LITTLE YOU HAVE COMPLETES THE MIRACLE She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. – 1 King 17:15 Giving to God before anything else It is not about giving what you wish but about giving what little you have. A lot of people prefer to give only when God blesses them abundantly first. But it’s not about wishful giving but rather about what you already have in your hand.

When you will give from what you have, God will bless you with what you do not have God blessed the widow in 1 Kings 17 with what she did not have. She did not have a plenteous supply but a one-meal ticket towards death (verse 12). But after she fed Elijah, God restored to her an abundance of flour and oil, probably more than she ever had in her life because she had been a widow.

Do not focus on the little that you have but rather, envision what God of the impossible can do for you today! It is always about total giving and not giving from the crumbs The widow did not give from the crumbs. She made a meal for Elijah. Such extravagance resulted in “food every day” (verse 15).

The Hebrew word for “every day” means every moment of the day. Can you imagine having supply, provision, and miracles of God all the time? Moreover, the newfound supply was now “for the woman and her family”. This was a marked shift from when she first met Elijah and was preparing to make a final meal for her and her son. When she was going through a tough time, everyone in her family left her. After being restored through the master key of giving, even the miracle, manifestation and manna of heaven came upon her life and her entire family – her siblings, relatives, and in-laws. Similarly, God intends for salvation to be experienced not just by us but our family too (Acts 11:14). Biblical restoration is meant for both our loved ones and us. Do you need a miracle from heaven? Do you long to see the outpouring of heaven’s riches into your life? God will not fail you when you willingly give to him whatever is in your hands right now. So do not be afraid to use the master key of giving. Give and experience a bountiful harvest that flows right from the throne of God!

envision God can do the impossible for you today. He can supernaturally supply and intervene in your life once again. But it begins with giving to Him before anything else, regardless of how little it may be, and holding onto His promise that He “will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:20).

Verse 16 tells us “For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.” When we give out of scarcity, God responds with abundance. When we give out of lack, God responds with plentifulness. When we give out of the little we have, God responds with much more. Biblical restoration is God bringing us into a state where it would be even better than the original.

God has blessed me with an amazing family and a great career where I traveled frequently during pre-COVID-19 days. I thought I was a good Christian who did the necessary like going to church and occasionally reading God’s Word.

WHEN WE BUILD GOD’S HOUSE, HE BUILDS OURS REAL LIFE MIRACLES BY SHIREEN KRIPLANI When the season of COVID-19 pandemic could have been tumultuous for many people, but it was a time that God used to bring about restoration for Trinitarian Michelle Wong, and her household. Let us hear from her as she shares her testimony. His words resounded repeatedly. Eventually, I obeyed, and a personal revival was taking place.

THE ROAD BACK TO GOD When Covid-19 first hit in 2020, I was grounded because of Circuit Breaker restrictions. God had my full attention. Unsuspectingly, God started to speak to me gently to become a member of Trinity Christian Centre. His words to me were, “I am calling each of my tribes back to battle and will bless them. You need to become a member of Trinity.” It was not until this nudge from God that I felt the urgency to become a member. The process of going through New Life courses and joining a Connect Group (CG) felt like a disruption to my schedule. However, God was patient with me,

MAKING TIME FOR HIM I had no idea what God was about to do in my life. He introduced me to a CG where believers are so generous in love and spirit. Every week, they helped me draw closer to Jesus. Growing together in the CG, I was reminded to: pray for my loved ones - live in His new mercies every morning - bring all my cares and concerns to Him - be in a fellowship of believers who gather to worship God Tears started flowing. The longing to be in His presence grew. I had a deep desire to attend church onsite and worship Him in His sanctuary. When the call for helpers in DiscoveryLand came, I was overjoyed to join as a volunteer. 33 up close

WHEN GOD BLESSES, HE MEANS IT

Issue 2 2022

I experienced God's blessings in a season of personal transformation. God had bigger plans for me and my household. In August 2021, Pastor Dominic Yeo preached on Build God's House, and He will Build Yours I never thought this would be so real to us.

God challenged me to increase my Faith Promise. He did not need my money but wanted to increase my faith. Fearfully, I asked the Lord how much more I should be giving. His answer came through my daughter, Sophie, at DiscoveryLand. She told me that she committed double of what she was giving. By faith, I did the same. Shortly after, we faced a cash flow problem for the new house. We had overlooked some cash requirements for the purchase. Mentally, I had exhausted all avenues.

up closeup close 34

For many years, we desired to sell our house and upgrade to a bigger space. Nothing happened until in September 2021, unexpectedly, God prompted us to look around. We were introduced to a property agent who was different from the rest. She refrained from the usual industry banter and did not she rush us. Instead, she listened. A couple of weeks after listing for sale, the agent brought us an offer that was beyond what we asked. Praise the Lord! In retrospect, I realized God had stopped us from spending unnecessarily on any small-scale house renovation, which would be redundant when we move to a new house. God cared for us meticulously. My faith was stretched as I trusted God to guide us on the right house to buy. Many worries and doubts began to engulf us. Within a month of selling, God delivered. He opened the door to a property we had always loved. It was at a right time and price too.

STRETCHING OUR FAITH AS A HOUSEHOLD

up close 35

Now, I wake up every day in awe of this beautiful new home God has blessed us with. He has orchestrated every detail and worked out His purposes mysteriously in our lives as mentioned in Psalm 77:19, “Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.“ There is so much more Jesus is doing for us as I continue to believe Him for: - The salvation of my loved ones - Being an impact in the workplace - Bringing more unsaved into His Kingdom It says in Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” Like how God restored and built my faith, family and life, may you allow Him who gives everyone life and breath and everything else (Acts 17:25) to restore and build you to greater than before.

Issue 2 2022 But I prayed that God would provide the funds without a loan, and again He did not fail us. Miraculously, He revealed an area in my stock investment that had multiplied in the last five years. When I cashed that in, it was MORE than sufficient, a promise from God that came through when He said to me, “I will open my storehouses and pour out my blessings.” This experience brought my pre-believing husband closer to Jesus as divine intervention was evident. He was open to praying and declaring God's hand of grace over our situation.

GOD'S BLESSINGS CONTINUED

The next challenge was we needed to rent for a couple of months while the new house underwent renovation. In our first viewing, the agent informed us of the sudden surge in demand. My earthly self then panicked and started overthinking. Again, God patiently told me to turn my heart and focus unto Him. He assured me that He would provide a house for me and my household. Truly, God opened the door to a rental house that fulfilled ALL we needed. It was near to our daughter's school. It was fully furnished and there was no penalty for short-term rental. I could not hide my bursting excitement to want to praise God and His goodness.

After experiencing miracle after miracle, I penned down with the opening words about restoration on December 19, 2021. With divine convergence, Pastor Dominic Yeo preached on Restoration at Watchnight Service. Indeed, God's restorative power was at work. His goodness in my life is undeniable. DELIVERY OF HIS BLESSINGS

AFFIRMATION OF HIS BLESSINGS

Colin Lincoln, former board member

The journey of the generations before us are more than just historical information. The victorious breakthroughs of the past are evidence of a God who loves to astound His people with His divine provision and miraculous ways. Once you think it is time to settle and enjoy the facilities, you stop building for generations.

While early Trinitarians had their faith stretched to believe for a place to call home, Trinitarians today will soon have four properties to call home. 36 “ ”

For years, we were constantly on the move. We rented various premises for our services and programs – Hillcrest Rd, Ewe Boon Rd, Hotel Equatorial, RELC, Singapore American School, NTUC Conference Hall, World Trade Centre, and more. Whenever these rented premises had other functions, we would scramble to find other locations for service –not forgetting the need to carry, set up, and strike set the audio-visual equipment, musical instruments, and chairs week in week out. It was a tedious process, but Trinitarians served with great commitment and heart, to build a church for people to encounter God and experience transformation. focus

BUILDING GENERATIONSFOR

When it was decided that we would purchase our own property to build our own church, it was decided that the board should take the lead to make their Faith Promise at the board meeting as a step of faith from the leadership of the church. I had never been involved in such an ‘exercise’ before. Looking back, it was a step of faith and a prophetic act that the board took to set the tone of how we as a church would go about building God’s church.

BUILDING GENERATIONSFOR

In 1981, two plots of land at 21 and 23 Adam Road were listed at more than S$2 million – a hefty sum of money in those days. But we proceeded in faith with a down payment not knowing where the rest of the finances were going to come from.

. ” “

When we purchased Trinity@Adam, we did not have enough money in our bank account. But Trinitarians rose to the call to give toward building God’s house. The young congregation gave sacrificially. People gave hard cash, their savings and even mortgaged their homes. Danny Yeo, former board member who served in the building committee for our first three buildings

Banks were reluctant to finance us as it would be bad PR if they had to sue a religious institution. To show the banks that we were serious and committed to paying off the loan, Trinitarians mortgage their assets with the church to show banks that we have collateral. What a display of incredible unity and determination to build a home for Trinitarians! We got our bank loan and construction of 21 Adam Road commenced in 1988. In 1990, the building at 21 Adam Road was completed. In 1992, we paid off the building and celebrated with a symbolic act of burning the mortgage papers.

Construction of 23 Adam Road commenced in 1993. When completed in 1995, we had our 1,000-seat auditorium. God used the new auditorium in a powerful way in 1996 when Trinity produced an evangelistic production “Heaven’s Gates & Hell Flames”. God moved mightily in hearts then. The run was extended from one to four weeks. More than 17,000 people attended the production and 4,700 people made decisions to follow Christ.

19961993TO focus 38 WHEN WE STOP BUILDING, WE STOP GROWING!

It was not long before Trinity was presented with the opportunity to purchase three adjacent freehold properties on Lavender Street. Completed in the year 2000, Trinity@Lavender served as an additional worship center for Trinity until 2006. Since then, Trinity@Lavender has been made available to churches in need of facilities. Trinity@Lavender also serves as headquarters to Care Community Services Society (our social arm), as well as a location for our local church plant to grow.

After we paid up the loan for Trinity@Adam, I recall saying to Pastor Dowdy (rather cheerfully) that we don’t need to take Vision Faith Promises anymore! She rebuked me, saying, ‘Raymond! When we stop building, we stop growing! This statement set the foundation for former board member Raymond Leong whenever he wrestled with going forward with new building projects “ ”

BUILDING

As soon as we paid off the loan for Trinity@Lavender, a large plot of freehold land along Paya Lebar Road became available for tender in 1998. After much prayer, the board came to a figure of S$19.1 million to bid for the tender. Our God-inspired bid was a whisker higher than the second-highest bid. We won the tender without paying more than needed. From S$12 million for the entire project at Trinity@Lavender to $19.1 million for the land – once again, God challenged Trinitarians to stretch their faith to see what He will do.

1998TO1999

GENERATIONSFOR

The price of S$19.1 million may seem like a manageable amount today, but back then, it was a staggering amount. If you think we had a fat bank account – we did not. We only have enough to pay for the initial down payment for the purchase of the land at Paya Lebar. Construction costs were yet to be factored in. But Trinitarians pressed in and gave of their widow’s mite to build for the future generations!

What amazes me is not just the few Trinitarians who gave in the hundreds of thousands but the many Trinitarians who gave of their widow’s mite believing in leaving a lasting legacy. Trinitarians were giving extravagantly despite periods of economic downturns. Khong Yew Cheong, board member since 2005 We experienced breakthroughs in provision. In 2003, we paid off the land loan for Trinity@Paya Lebar. Our bankers were very surprised because we took out a 10-year loan, but fully repaid it off in four years. God always outdoes Himself. We continued to take a 15-year bank loan for the construction of the building at Trinity@Paya Lebar. In 2011, God surpassed all our expectations when we fully paid up for Trinity@Paya Lebar in under five years! We experienced breakthroughs in growth. With the opening of Trinity@Paya Lebar, we multiplied worship centers in 2007 – “1 church, 2 centers, 3-nitarians” was our chant then. The multiplication required Trinitarians to uproot from a familiar place to a new place. As we abandoned familiarity and comfort zones, God added to our numbers exponentially. From 4,000 to 5,000 when we first multiplied into two centers, to 6,500 when the Sanctuary (phase 2 of Trinity@Paya Lebar) opened in December 2009. “ ”

For I hear the word – property, property, property. Rev Cindy Jacobs June 24, 2001

And I sense in my spirit that what you’re going to see is a rapid growth, and it is not going to be transfer growth. But it’s going to be growth out of conversion. You’re going to see people come into the Kingdom. And as a result of the growth that God is going to give you, you’ve got to expand. I believe that God is orchestrating these things because He is preparing you for a great harvest. And so, God says, It’sListen!time for expansion! You are expanding for the sake of the harvest. But you cannot see it in terms of saying, let’s just buy another facility. You have to see it in terms of souls. The bottom lineis souls. We want to see as many souls get saved in Singapore and then establish a base right here to go to the nations.

WHY ARE SPIRITUAL PARENTS IMPORTANT?

Issue 2 2022

Many of us have the misconception that “mature christians” means believers who are biologically older; have been a christian for many years; or possess much Bible knowledge. This is not entirely true. If we are not nurturing another believer in the faith, We stop maturing. In Trinity, We call this act of discipleship, Spiritual Parenting

Every baby needs a parent. So does a Spiritual Baby (SB) need a Spiritual Parent (SP). As new believers are added to the Kingdom of God, spiritual parents are needed to journey alongside them; helping them grow in their faith and relationship with God.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

We are also meant to bring God’s light into this dark world.

Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely, we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.

Spiritual Parenting is a learning journey. It is dynamic and interactive! Being an SP is a way to express my gratitude to our Heavenly Father for His love and grace lavished on me. The walk with a SB goes beyond discipleship materials. We spend time together sharing and praying. There are adjustments of schedule, but the rewards outweigh them. It is encouraging when the SB is integrated into the CG and grows in faith. It is so uplifting to cheer others on and be encouraged in return.

Chin Fook Neng, a Trinitarian for more than 40 years, has worshipped and served in each of Trinity’s worship locations in Singapore since his early 20s. As a young working adult in the 1970s-1980s, Fook Neng worked long hours from 8am to 9pm, six days a week and half days on Sundays. Exhausted, he still had to endure long daily commutes on rickety buses. Even getting enough sleep was a challenge.

But Fook Neng started praying. He wanted to grow in his love for God and the church. BY LYE HUI XIAN

Touched by the love of God, he did not want to be a mere member who walked into and out of services. He asked to join the small team setting up the church library to serve members shortly after he joined Trinity. As Fook Neng chose to honor God with his time and energy, he soon found his prayers for better working hours answered beyond his imagination. In a time when computing jobs were few and far between, God knew his heart’s desire. Fook Neng was offered his dream job as a computer programmer. He saw both his working hours and pay improve drastically. With a shortage of people with any knowledge of computers in the 1990s, Fook Neng readily agreed to put his budding computing skills in the projection ministry (better known as “RGB Ministry”) for the Chinese Ministry. To enable congregants to participate in the worship, song lyrics needed to be stored and projected. This required Fook Neng to learn to program, using a different type of computer from his work. After much labor with another brother, the Chinese Ministry finally had a new computer program to select and project songs during services. But the challenges continued to mount. The RGB Ministry experienced a shortage of volunteers. Even when they could find members willing to operate the computer, only Fook Neng could troubleshoot any computer issues. The biggest problem with that was he was concurrently serving as a worship leader. Any computer issues would have to wait for him to come running after the time of worship. The stress on him was unfathomable. But over the years, God brought friends to serve alongside him. His wife, Gan Hiong, too served faithfully in the worship ministry, even while they brought up their three children –Timothy, Olive and Priscilla. Through the challenges, Fook Neng continued with the RGB Ministry over the next 30 years, and is still serving today.

Pastor Christina shared about Fook Neng’s impact on the Chinese Ministry, “Brother Fook Neng and his family have a great impact in the Chinese Ministry as they have modelled sacrificial and faithful service unto the Lord for the past 40 plus years. They exhibit beautiful godly characters and loyalty to the church, the leadership and their friends in the ministry. The Chin family is a great partner in God’s Kingdom!” Would you too say, “Here I am, Lord! Send me!” and partner us to serve in God’s Kingdom? 50

Issue 2 2022 Find him at the video control room of Trinity@Paya Lebar’s Chinese services, smiling as he helps with slide projection. What has motivated him through the challenges? Fook Neng shared that he simply wanted to give what he knows to God. He wanted to use technology to serve God, and further God’s purpose in reaching people. He reflected that serving is a blessing to others and also a great personal blessing. In doing so, it helps us see where our own faith stands. Though conflicts may arise, and we may even receive negative comments at times, God disciples us through the difficulties to be more accommodating, generous, and forgiving. God molds our character in the process of serving.

“No turning back!” Fook Neng described his journey of faith serving in Trinity. Even as some good friends and leaders left over the years due to other commitments, he held on to a timely word that God had called him to Trinity for a purpose and would continue to strengthen him as he stayed faithful. Fook Neng also saw God’s blessings and provision as he learned to give God his time and talents. God prospered him in his career in IT until his retirement in August 2011 and provided for all his family members’ needs. Best of all, he is thankful to see his three adult children also actively serving in Trinity’s Creative Ministry. Olive shares about her father’s impact: “As a child and teenager, I did not understand why my father spent his Saturdays in church. But I started to notice and appreciate my father’s heart for serving in my adulthood days. Even after he suffered a heart attack in his mid-50s, he and my mum served week after week without complaint. I saw his health improve as he continued to serve out of great love for the Lord. Whenever he steps out of the house to serve, it’s almost as though he’s looking up to heaven and saying, “Here I am, Lord!”.

My father’s heart for serving has inspired me and my siblings to also give our time and talents to the Lord. I hope that our children, too, will be able to catch the same love that their grandparents have for the Lord, the very heart of why we serve.”

Serving in children’s ministry has been such an amazing experience for me over the one and a half years. I really look forward to seeing the children every week. What I enjoy most is seeing the children’s genuine and pure heart in wanting to grow more in God. Seeing the little ones raise their hands and lift their voices to heaven in worship and having one-on-one conversations with them about the sermon after service always warms my heart. I believe that God is doing a great thing in the hearts of these young ones, and I am so excited to witness them grow in the Lord. 53

It was a heartening experience for Yannie as she got to witness the three-fold multiplication of the congregation size in Jakarta. It was also meaningful that she got to plant seeds of God’s Word in the young lives during Bible Camp. Yannie knew that God would nurture these young ones to grow into a new generation of God-fearing leaders.

Have you ever wondered whether God has more in store for you than what you are experiencing in life now?

Meanwhile, Yannie is committed to live out her renewed purpose that God has placed in her heart to share the gospel and advance God’s Kingdom. Peng (Phongsatorn), who flew in from Trinity@Bangkok to join AlphaTrack, shared with us his experience. Feeling weary from trying to live up to the expectations of the people around him, Peng was molded to turn his focus to God during AlphaTrack. In the face of challenges, he learnt to soak and delight in God’s presence. He also learnt to overcome his fears by “letting go and letting God”. 54

As Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo declared the theme of the year to be “Restoration for His Mandate”, this batch’s AlphaTrackers experienced restoration as AlphaTrack’s sessions resumed onsite. They even got to travel to Jarkata for Missions Impact Team (MIT) amid the ongoing pandemic. Seven years ago, AlphaTracker Yannie Yong went through a devastating time when she lost her husband in a car accident. She chose to go to Jakarta for a fresh start, away from the grief she was feeling in Singapore. God pursued her through the batch of AlphaTrackers that was also in Jakarta then. The love of God she experienced through the Trackers had helped her regain her identity as a child of God. In an amazing sequence of events, God brought her back to Jakarta after Yannie answered His call to join AlphaTrack this

She felt that in her weakness, God’s power shone through even more. For in all things that we do, “yet it’s not I but through Christ in me”. What a privilege it was being able to partner with God for His ministry as she got to witness first-hand how God touched and transformed lives through the various programs ran by the Trackers. Through AlphaTrack, Sarah’s faith in God was strengthened. Her capacity to trust and follow God was enlarged. From the various 55

prophetic prayers released over her, Sarah was affirmed that the time was right for her to now step into the call that God has given her.

Just like what Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9, God’s Power is made perfect in our weaknesses. Seeing how God has empowered him, Peng was able to break away the fear of inadequacy he had about walking into the call that God had placed in his heart. Instead, he received renewed confidence from God to step forward boldly into the destiny God has called him to. For Sarah Han, AlphaTrack has been a safe environment for her to be vulnerable that allowed her to be open to God to build new pillars in her life that are centered on Him.

When we stepped into our God-given destinies, His anointing flows powerfully through us. During these three months, the Trackers were empowered to do many things they did not think they were able to. These included praying prophetically for other brethren and sharing gospel with people from all walks of life, to expanding faith to believe God for fulfilling their dreams and taking them to track on their path of destiny – all three of them will be joining Ministry Internship next. If these stories strike a chord with you, God could be speaking to you right now. We invite you to take a leap of faith and join AlphaTrack where you will discover God’s unique call and purpose for your life.

Ivan: Most people may not take note of how the stage lighting is programmed during events and services. What I do prepares the service halls for worship. My work also involves preparation work to set up the upcoming new centers by ensuring that the equipment we bring in are good and value for money. I hope my work can also inspire the next generation to arise and serve. Kit Mei: In a nutshell, it is simply to help the pastoral team with ministry follow up, and to help people get connected to the church. Gabriel: Let me build on Kit Mei’s succinct reply. I think many of us remember the (paper) “connect cards” for First-Time Visitors (FTV) to our church. Those who have served in leadership will also remember the Electronic Carecell Administration System (eCAS) which served us well for 20 years. The previous process was manual, both for transcribing the FTV’s information into eCAS and for assigning the FTV’s follow-up to a Connect Group (CG) via eCAS. Today, we have fully automated this entire process. The FTV could be assigned to a CG within seconds of filling in their information. Furthermore, the allocation takes into consideration the FTV’s address, demographics and stated preferences. This new system will bring us forward in this Decade of Expansion

Kit Mei: I started attending church as a new Christian in 2009, and I wanted to serve God even though I wasn’t even attending a CG then. A week after having that thought, I saw a career opportunity in church – it was for a “.NET” developer! I was stunned – like that was a sign from God. Despite this, it took me a year and lots of prayer before I had the courage to decide in 2010 that I want to serve Him. I came on board full-time in 2011.

WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU ENCOUNTER IN ANSWERING GOD’S CALL? HOW HAVE YOU OVERCOME THEM?

This has made me more joyful as I deal with requests and issues every day.

Gabriel: Not any moment but the interaction with my colleagues has been memorable. I grew up in Trinity so I know many of the people who are now my colleagues.

They saw how my family chose to serve God. Additionally, I also used to be impatient and hot-tempered. I have learned to exercise self-control and not to be swayed by emotions. I told myself that whatever I do, I do for God, and that I portray the image of God to whoever I interact with.

focus Issue 2 2022

Kit Mei: My biggest challenge has always been finances. I have three kids and there have been several times when I was concerned about covering the additional expenses. I pray to God whenever these challenges come as I still want to serve Him full-time. Each time, God has been good and He answered in His own way. He has also opened the door for my husband to get a new job with a higher pay that would cover for our additional expenses.

Ivan: I have also faced pressure –not from my parents because they also serve in church but from other relatives. Meeting them during festivals and family reunions is like evangelizing to them –explaining to them why I chose to work in church. But this is good. An uncle and aunt came to accept Christ because of this.

WHAT IS ONE MEMORABLE MOMENT YOU HAVE HAD SERVING GOD THROUGH YOUR JOB?

Ivan: Though we have done numerous productions over the years, I remember the World Assemblies of God Congress in 2017. I was so caught up working that I forgot about letting go and worshipping God. That special moment when God chose to touch me – and took away all stress and tiredness – when I was backstage while the Spanish version of Your Presence is Heaven was sung. I always recall that moment whenever I am tired. 66

I DO NOT THINK IT WAS POSSIBLE BY MY OWN STRENGTH. I BELIEVE IT WAS GOD WHO ENABLED ME TO PULL THIS OFF.

It is memorable working with people who will encourage and spur you on, colleagues who will prank one another, team-mates who will work alongside you towards a common goal, and friends whom I can hang out with and have fun together.

Kit Mei: Take courage and do what God tells you to do.

Gabriel: Don’t miss it! Answer first and be surprised by God.

Ivan: If you’re not answering God’s call now, then when? YOLO (You only live once)!

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH GOD’SANSWERINGFULL-TIME CALL?

Kit Mei: I remember this particular time when all user requests came in, and we only had a short runway – only three weeks – to do the necessary. During that time, I somehow managed to develop a system for ministry request in just two weeks. That was on top of taking care of two kids at home then. I do not think it was possible by my own strength. I believe it was God who enabled me to pull this off.

God assured me that as I surrender to Him, He will be with me.

God sent two sisters to pray for me on separate occasions and each of them released a prophetic vision to me. That was when I knew it was time to respond to God’s call. Jason: About seven to eight years ago, God showed me a vision of me standing on stage preaching to the crowd. I said to the Lord, “lead me if You want me to serve You in full-time ministry. Show me the way.” 68

HOW DID GOD CALL YOU INTO FULL-TIME MINISTRY?

BY ALIVIA KAN

Before enrolling into Trinity Christian Centre’s Ministry Internship (MI) program, Sister Esther Lau was a Human Resource Executive while Brother Jason Koon was a Creative Manager, designing for company events and weddings. Through their sharing, we can see God’s divine leading and providence as He called them into full-time ministry and their journey since.

WHAT GAVE YOU THE COURAGE TO STEP OUT IN FAITH?

Issue 2 2022

Esther: During AlphaTrack, a three-month full time discipleship program, in 2007, God spoke to me about serving Him and working in church. I did not understand because working in church was never part of my plan.

Issue 2 2022

Within the next year, God opened the way for me to work in the church office as a Human Resource Administrative Staff where I served for 13 years. However, over the last few years, I sensed a shift in my spirit to pursue the pastoral call. “Lord, are you sure about my full-time call?”

In my times of prayer, I felt God’s assurance in affirming me that HR will not be my end destination. “Lord, if not HR, then where?”

Issue 2 2022 focus ESTHER LAU Ministry Intern My wife was the one who affirmed and encouraged my call to follow the God-given vision I had eight years ago. She assured me that she would look after our son. In obeying this call to full-time ministry serving as a Ministry Intern, I have seen how God has blessed and provided for my family. If it’s God’s Will, it’s God’s Bill. DID YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS OR STRUGGLES WHEN DECIDING WHETHER TO BECOME A MINISTRY INTERN?

Esther: Having worked as an admin staff for more than a decade, it was daunting to step out of my comfort zone into the unknown. As the only child, I was concerned if I would have enough to provide for my parents. As I prayed, God assured me that He would take care of my family. I have seen how my family was blessed in the 1.5 years while I was working from home. The blessing came in the form of friends offering to buy us meals. Whenever I came out of my study room, there would always be food on the dining table. God said to me one day, “there will be no lack in your house because I am the good shepherd of your family.” With this assurance, I took a leap of faith and stepped into full-time ministry. God is faithful. Since then, there has been no lack, there is always food on the dining table.

Jason: Yes! I have a six-year-old boy. My wife and I wrestled with joining the one-year MI program without income.

We wondered how we could support our family financially, while paying off our HDB loan. My son will be attending Primary One this year. I was concerned if I would have time to support him with the transition from kindergarten to Primary School. God came through the way He promised. On top of the sponsorship allowance that was meant for the first six months of MI, I have been blessed with a double portion of allowance that covered for monthly payment of the housing loan, and my boy’s school fees the entire year while I served. My wife was promoted to full-time staff with pay increment, allowing her to take paid childcare leave to look after our son when the need arose.

JASON KOON Ministry Intern Issue 2 202269

ANY WORD OF ADVICE TO FELLOW BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO MAY HAVE A FULL-TIME CALL?

Esther: Acts 20:24 says, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Embrace the time of preparation and remain faithful to the task given to you. Be ready to go when God calls. focus 70

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE OR MOST SURPRISING PART OF BEING A MI? WHAT IS ONE GODLY ENCOUNTER OR BREAKTHROUGH YOU HAVE HAD SINCE SERVING AS A MI?

On the day of ministry, the Holy Spirit blessed me with the words to say. I was able to pray in English for people during altar call.

Jason: Mark 9:23 says, “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Trust and go for it! I am a living testimony that attests to when you trust in God’s leading, He will show you the way. Share and account to your family and mentors. Their support is important when the time comes to answer the call and go.

Issue 2 2022

Esther: My favorite part is MI impartation session which happens every Friday morning with the pastors, covering topics such as ministering, calling and conduct. Another favorite is the weekly mentorship sessions with my Immediate Supervising Pastor (ISP). Some things are caught rather than taught. My ISP’s pastoral heart for God’s people has inspired and influenced me to carry a pastoral heart to care for others. One key takeaway from my ISP is to always eat my breakfast. Eating well ensures we can run far and long for Jesus. Being a perfectionist, it is not easy for me to accept failures or weaknesses in my life. Through my imperfections, I cried out to God and God led me to 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. Not only is God’s grace enough for me, but His power is made perfect in weakness. I can be vulnerable before God and admit my weaknesses. God is my strength. Now, I have a shift in my mindset in everything I do, I do not have to be a perfectionist. I do my very best and let God do the rest. Jason: My favorite part is seeing how God uses me to bless other people. One of my greatest breakthroughs in MI was preaching an entire sermon in English for the first time. English is not my first language. I tend to fall asleep reading, which was why I became a designer. As I was stuck preparing for this assignment wondering how it would ever be possible to write an English sermon, God led me to a random book in the library. That was when He spoke and imparted all the words I needed for a sermon on fruitfulness and salvation. I have then preached on two other occasions. I was a part of the Thursday pastoral team for weekday services the past year. When I was activated to pray in English, I was at the edge of giving up. My son encouraged me and told me not to give up.

I am once again reminded that nothing is impossible for our Almighty God. I shall not underestimate how God can use me for His glory.

Issue 2 2022 WHAT IS THE MINISTRY INTERNSHIP (MI) PROGRAM? IS IT A PAID INTERNSHIP? MI is focused on the formation and development of the minister (personhood, perspectives, and practice), the curriculum integrates practical hands-on training with academic theological education. It is an unpaid one-year internship. Applications can be made to Missions Department for sponsorship allowance which helps to defray some living expenses for the intern. WHO IS QUALIFIED FOR THE MI PROGRAM? Interested applicants must fulfil the following criteria: • Acknowledge that he/she has a full-time call to serve God • Serve, at minimum, as a Leader. • Be aligned to the vision, values, and leadership of Trinity Christian Centre. FROM TECHNOLOGY TO THEOLOGY

When God birthed a call and deep desire in Reverend Doctor Joseph Tan’s heart as a young minister, his only response was, “Lord, do whatever you want with my life”. Besides being Acting Dean for the School of Theology (English) at TCA College, Dr Joseph is also a pastor at Trinity Christian Centre. Read on to discover how the computer business partner became a theologian.

Well-known to be Trinity’s Old Testament scholar, his journey to teaching theology was never something he imagined or dreamed of. The only vision he had was

NEW ZEAL FOR THE OLD TESTAMENT

“The Old Testament was not my favorite subject, I failed terribly and took an entire year to relearn the Old Testament,” revealed Dr Joseph as he recalled the tough pruning time in the US. “Previously in my training we were directed to just read off commentaries and I must admit that it was not very inspiring nor exciting. During my studies in the US, I had a dream team of professors who helped me grow my interest, and guided me on how to study.

Issue 2 2022 focus 73 one of “the nations”. “Nobody starts out wanting to be a professor,” quips Dr Joseph. He recalled how in his younger days as a new Christian, he was very reserved and could not see himself standing before people and speaking. While teaching part-time in a computer school, he had to pick up teaching skills where he gradually grew in confidence in public speaking. When he decided to serve God full-time, he even thought he would be the “computer” man and not a pastor. But God’s ways are always higher than ours.

Embarking on his Bible school training with missiology as he thought of preparing himself to go to the nations, Dr Joseph shared, “I learned a lot about ministry, but I wanted more Bible. After completing that Bachelor’s degree, I continued with a Masters in Intercultural Studies. It was then that I was exposed to a module on contemporary hermeneutics, which is a new way of interpreting the Bible. This course sparked my interest in the subject so much that I decided to change my course to Masters in Divinity. As I began studying biblical languages, I was surprised to discover that learning these languages were not difficult for me. In fact, I enjoyed doing so. That was when God seeded the thought of doing a PhD in me.”

“The call to pursue my PhD was met with total disagreement from many whom I shared it with. But my wife wisely reminded me that God would supply if it is indeed His call for you,” added Dr Joseph. “When I joined Trinity in 2007, I became a Zone Pastor. In my mind, the pastoral and the academic track were distinct, so I never expected to be offered an opportunity to further my theological studies. But God was at work, and I was sent to study a masters specializing in the OT in the US. Since this was something I kept to myself, it was beyond my comprehension that this avenue would be made available to me.”

We never know who we are equipping –reaching China, Canada, India, and beyond through our teaching. These are the things that keep me going.”

While Dr Joseph’s current favorite subjects are Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament Survey, he is developing a course on the book of Judges. He has an inkling that this is going to be his new favorite, as his dissertation was on this book of the Bible.

Trinitarians and beyond, we can look forward excitedly to rolling out of the new TCA course, and what God will continue to do in and through TCA.

Today, Dr Joseph has a PhD in Biblical Interpretation and Theology, and has been teaching in TCA College for 11 years.

Dr Joseph constantly sees his students as future pastors, missionaries and leaders in the Christian World. “I feel that in the place I am, I can impact students who will reach people I cannot reach personally.

In TCA College, I have the privilege to empower students from different denominations, churches and nations.”

“I do not think I have arrived at any final destination with regard to my call. The call is more than a destination. It is a journey of being in a place where God wants you to be. Everything we do adds to the call, so I will continue to embrace whatever new assignment God directs me to.”

Do you have a dream or call that God has placed in your heart? Perhaps like Dr Joseph Tan, you have not told anyone about it yet or have been wondering how that will be fulfilled. If there is a stirring in your heart to impact the nations through teaching, we invite you to explore joining TCA as a faculty. 74

They pointed me to resources on background, and I was able to understand the political climate, and culture of Israel at the time. Such contextual studies gave me insights beyond what I was reading from the Bible and that really sparked something in the way I understood and interpreted the Bible. It was helpful to be immersed in such a conducive studious environment.”

“There’s a great sense of joy, satisfaction and fulfillment in my call to teach.

Recently, I met up with a TCA alumnus, who is the Deputy Senior Pastor of the largest Tamil speaking church in Singapore. I am encouraged to know the training really helped him in ministering the church. What I teach shapes their biblical understanding and theology which in turn shapes the people in their circle of influence. “Equipping a student is an awesome responsibility of a Bible School Teacher.

Hansen’s wife, Nancy, a MIT-veteran, shared how the timing was perfect for their family to serve together in this Family MIT. It coincided with their elder daughter Sarah’s Alpha-track MIT, and it would happen before their younger daughter Evangeline’s university began.

“I would normally be impatient working on something unfamiliar, but I was assured by God’s peace, and knew everything would be alright as long as I trust Him,” added Hansen.

FAMILY MIT TO JAKARTA

For this intrepid team of four families, it was from taking a step to a journey of faith. It was the first on-site MIT since the pandemic began, and the first Family MIT in more than a decade. This team collaborated with Trinity@Jakarta to conduct a camp that incorporated a youth cultural exchange and a parents’ dialogue for a local elementary school in Jakarta.

“My mom asked me whether I wanted to join her on this MIT. At first, I was really hesitant and unwilling to go as it was during the school holidays. I was sure I would not pass the interview. But after praying and asking God, I decided to take a step of faith and trust that God would help me through everything,” said Esther Leow, 15-year-old IGNYTEr who stepped out and up with her mother Nancy Ang. For Hansen, who participated in his first MIT with his entire family of four, it was a transformative experience getting out of his comfort zone. “I had to do a lot of things I was not comfortable with,” shared the self-professed “non-techie” who was tasked to prepare presentation slides.

The Sun’s rays danced off the aircraft port wing as it soared into the sky from Changi Airport before heading south to Jakarta. Aboard were four families on a mission – a Family Missions Impact Trip (MIT).

“Playing games is not wrong, but the timing must be right,” said the child evangelist in the making. “Just like how parents only want what is best for us, so does God. For He has plans not to harm us, but to prosper us as the Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11.”

TITUS CHEW AGE 11 heartbeat

Another young warrior for God was the youngest child on the team. Titus Chew preached to more than a hundred upper level elementary school children. The 11-year-old humbly conveyed his testimony of how he was addicted to playing computer games, and turned a deaf ear to his parents’ exhortations to focus instead on his studies. He was gaming even on the eve of his Chinese language exam, and that resulted in him miserably failing the weighted assessment. Titus realized his folly, and after much effort, attained his class’ highest score in the next assessment.

Another MIT-veteran, Caleb Joshua, had been looking forward to bringing his 15-year-old son, Samuel, for a MIT since he was in Primary Two. “I wanted to show him the needs out there,” he Samuelexplained.recounted, “We did a recce at the school before the camp. And seeing the names of the children on their tables, I felt a heavy heart for the children who did not know God yet.”

In his message on obedience, Titus shared how the children could hear from God through worship and prayer. He proceeded Playing games is not wrong, but the timing must be right. Just like how parents only want what is best for us, so does God. For He has plans not to harm us, but to prosper us.

As the father-son duo was responsible for logistics, they witnessed how God provided miraculously when a sudden need for 300 pens arose for the children to write personal letters to God. Samuel was amazed also at how he could serve by just simply availing himself. He happened to walk into the nursery before the service at Trinity@Jakarta to find a little girl with separation anxiety. Together with another team member, they spoke and played with her for almost three hours so that her parents could serve in the worship team for that service. 80

Issue 2 2022

Pastor Hui En felt heartwarming to witness how the children stepped out of their parents’ shadows, took up leadership roles, and were not shy at demonstrating their gifting or ideas to the team. “I wanted parents to witness these breakthroughs and see their children not as little boys and girls, but as partners in the mission field.”

When Titus’ father, Ben Chew, was asked how he felt seeing his son preached and reached out, he beamed, “I’m amazed at his willingness to just go and go. He encouraged everyone at the MIT. I’m so proud of him.” And so is everyone at Trinity Christian Centre – for every family and everyone who was deployed, and the many who supported the team behind-the-scenes, planning, coordinating and praying relentlessly for this Family MIT – for family, by family!

Issue 2 202281 to lead the children in a time of reflection, and to pen down what they heard from God. And how precious it was, hearing how God has spoken to the children. A child wrote, “I hear Him say that if no one cares you, I care you.” Pastor Alana, Center Pastor, Trinity@Jakarta recounted a boy who felt so touched by how much God loves him, that his tears started flowing. “It was his birthday and he was a little embarrassed at having cried in public,” Pastor Alana related. Another child was tearing as he wrote a letter to Jesus telling Him about his grandmother who was in hospital due to cancer. Pastor Alana shared other letters penned by the children asking God to forgive, and to help them forgive. “We knew it was God speaking to the children as we didn’t share about forgiveness.”

God impacted the lives of these four families even before they boarded the aeroplane for this Family MIT, they prayed as a family and underwent training together, planning devotions. While sharing as a parent-child pair during MIT, they blessed one another with their family devotions with the other families. “It was beautiful seeing children and parents sharing, praying and growing together,” affirmed Pastor Ong Hui En, the lead of the Family MIT. “There were a lot of laughter and fun as they worked hard together during the trainings. The parents’ sense of responsibility aided me greatly; while the children brought energy and freshness that sparked and renewed the adults’ joy and passion weekly. I thoroughly enjoyed the synergy and unity that I had the privilege to witness. The unity was special and different from the usual MIT,” she added.

Another thing to highlight is the commissioning our first batch of leadership. On April 3, we commissioned seven new Spiritual Parents. We anticipated doubling the number of Spiritual Parents after we have completed another round of SP training end of this July. Another first is that we had our very own AlphaTrackers. Trinity@Melbourne has been on a journey of faith since we started the church amid COVID-19 lockdown in August 2020. Church services were held online weekly since then to January 2022. Our services progressed from being online to onsite as the nation of Australia came out of the lockdown. We started our search for a bigger place to rent for our church services. On March 20, we held our first service in The Waverley International Hotel – where we also received 8 new members into our church family. We praise God for the opportunity to have a church retreat from April 1 to 17, where 25 of us went to Marysville. We had precious opportunities to encounter the Lord as our Lead Pastor, Dominic Yeo, ministered in this retreat. Many lives were touched, and people experienced the restoration and transformation of the Lord in their lives. Great friendships and bonding were built over our picnic lunch at Lilydale Park and trekking at Stevenson Falls as well. It is our desire to build a strong community life in Trinity@Melbourne, as we see visitors joining us week after week.

Some of the training and consultation that happened in the first half of 2022 were worship training and consultation at Palopo and Ambon from May 16 to 21, and 7 Steps to Transforming Your Church from June 6 to 9. We have seen a remarkable work of God establishing His Kingdom.

When we hosted our first onsite Good Friday evangelistic event, more than 20 first-time visitors came and five accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We also witnessed the church’s breakthroughs when two new Connect Groups were planted for two different generations – IGNYTE (January 2022) and Golden Age (May 2022).

We praise the Lord for every Trinitarian who is building this House. We believe God will reveal what He has in store for Trinity@Melbourne; and lead us to walk out our destiny as a church family in this Decade of Expansion “Many lives were touched, and people experienced the restoration transformationand of the Lord in their lives.”

Birthday celebrations, lunches together after Sunday services, outings to Yarra Valley and Jells Park, and the students coming together to bake for Mother’s Day celebration are some awesome opportunities we created to build our community stronger together. Three Connect Groups were birthed to strengthen our multi-generational congregation. We have a Young Adults Connect Group for students from different universities, a Working Adults Connect Group for professionals from various walks of life, and a Recharged Connect Group for those aged 50 and above, where they have a wealth of experience through their journey of life to share and bless others with – some are now happily retired. From this community, we see many congregants are availing themselves to serve on the different Ministry Expression Teams such as worship, tech, Children’s Ministry, and celebration host.

LIVE ABUNDANTLYLIFE

BY TAMMY CHUA

The air was abuzz with excitement and chatter. As attendees queued to register, the atmosphere was tangibly filled with anticipation and excitement. Life Conference was held for two days from June 2 to 3. There were Day Sessions and Night Rallies, along with a concurrent youth and children’s track, namely IGNYTE and DiscoveryLand. No matter the age group, sons and daughters were here to lay hold of God’s abundant life Gloriatogether.Soo from LMC CG shared, “Living in a hectic and rushed world, I decided to take time to attend Life Conference to slow down, allowing God to speak to me, and to be refreshed.”

At this year’s onsite Life Conference, 1,630 Trinitarians and friends from other churches were refreshed as they gathered to receive God’s Word, commune in vibrant fellowship and understand how they could live an abundant life as God intended. pulse

Rev Ong Sek Leang, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Malaysia and Senior Pastor of Metro Tabernacle, preached on Coming Back from Setbacks. He urged us to live in accordance with God's powerful mandate: to boldly share the Good News! 9191 heartbeat The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

UNLOCKING THE ABUNDANT LIFE

During the Day Sessions, eight power-packed sermons were delivered by four anointed preachers. Powerful and relevant truths were imparted. All church conference attendees were blessed as we learned more about the keys to living out an abundant life. God’s restoration is one aspect of the abundant life that one could experience. In the opening session, Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo shared the purpose of Life Conference – teaching us how to live life abundantly through faith in Christ Jesus. Hearts were refocused to seek God and prepared to receive God’s Word in the following sessions.

RESTORED, RENEWED AND RECOMMITTED Eager to hear God’s Word and to dwell in an atmosphere of worship, conference attendees gathered at the Night Rallies with positive anticipation. Rev Ong called us to revive our passion for serving the Lord, while Bishop Kitoto shared key truths on intentional living for Jesus. A multitude of people responded at the respective altar calls in reflection and recommitment to God and His purposes for our lives. Ivan Cheong, from Trinity’s Technical Department, reflected, “I felt such joy to see the altar filled with people again. It has been so long – two years – since I have seen so many people responding to the messages together. It touched not just me but our whole department.”

Bishop Philip Kitoto, General Superintendent of Kenya Assemblies of God and Senior Pastor of International Christian Centre, equipped us with practical tips to be unified as a church and being good stewards of our time and talents, in order to build God’s Kingdom effectively. We can begin to build powerfully when we truly experience God’s amazing and overflowing love. Pastor Gerald Tan, Lead Pastor Designate of Trinity Christian Centre, shared how we could respond with godly character in the face of various challenges which presented themselves in God’s assignments to us. We could not change our past, but we could surely change the narrative we believed about our past. In the closing session, Pastor Gerald encouraged us that seeing the mistakes and failures of our past through God’s eyes would bring restoration. Having such good faith will unleash the abundant life that God has for us.

GROWING IN THE ABUNDANT LIFE TOGETHER

Indeed, many CGs faithfully signed up for Life Conference together. After attending the conference, they received blessings and God is restoring their faith in Him and their identity in God. They were also reminded of their callings, and how God is restoring a heart for evangelism. All these are refreshing – a call to live a purposeful life for Him,” testified Daphne Tan, CG Rooted in God, Area 2, For many CGs, Life Conference was a time of hearty fellowship. Many Trinitarians were reenergized by the engaging conversations over mealtimes between sessions. Their faith was “Onestrengthened.CGmember and I shared about visions we had received from God at the start of the event, and how God had revealed what they meant throughout the sermons preached,” recounted Bridget Lee, Living Rivers CG, Campus Ministry. Couples were blessed as they attended Life Conference together as well. “During Life Conference, God reminded me that we are not meant to be alone. We have a community to encourage us in our journeys, to work together and serve Him,” shared Deborah and Ryan, Di’Vine CG, Area 3.

The Meeting Place was abuzz with conversation as people “ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (Acts 2:46) God desires for us to grow together as a community. Through fellowshipping (Acts 2:42-27), breaking bread together and eating with glad and sincere hearts, praising God, and enjoying the favor of all the people, may our Lord add to our numbers daily – those who are being saved.

Many conference attendees received fresh visions, had their faith in God restored, renewed their boldness to spread the gospel. He is gently calling us to turn our eyes to behold Him, to seek His Kingdom first and to live for Him relentlessly.

RECEIVING THE ABUNDANT LIFE

Like how Pastor Dominic hoped for our main takeaway to be, he said “Let us enjoy the life God has given us”. As sons and daughters of God, we get to enjoy life abundantly – not only filled with every spiritual blessing, but His favor and anointing, and unwavering faith that can move mountains. 93

Youth Track Committee Member Estelle Tan shared that it was important for conference-goers to “not just have fun but be able to catch the heart of unity in the body of Christ— working together as a body for God’s mission.” On Day 1, conference participants traveled to Sentosa beach for a fun day of exciting and team-bonding games. They built working rafts in their respective teams and constructed meaningful sandcastles. Through the activities, IGNYTEr Isaac Lim saw his Connect Group (CG) grow in strength and teamwork. Youth Pastor Faith Makinen shared her heart and vision of wanting to see youths learn and glean gold nuggets of God’s wisdom from the workshops. She prayed the youths will know what it means to be called to love God, abide in Him, and bring God to every sphere of their lives.

Pastor Faith spoke passionately, “There seemed to be a dichotomy of youths living out their identity and faith only in church settings, but I love to see them flourish with God’s truths and ways at schools, at home and in every relationship. I want to see them blossom.” Issue 2 202295

IGNYTEr Julien Ow testified, “I have been encouraged not to be ashamed of the gospel. Through the sermons, I am inspired to seek God and live His abundant life. Not letting any setback drag me down or distract me from my journey with God but deal with setbacks with godly confidence. Then, move on with godly character strength.”

Together with their oikos, the children engaged in a series of interactive games. With this year’s theme being “Discovering Your Talent for God’s Kingdom”, the games facilitated the children to discover each other’s strengths and talents quickly. They were able to reassemble and deploy themselves effectively to complete each game’s objectives. Not only did they have lots of fun with the games, but they also bonded well and appreciated one another, including their Pre-teengiftings.Sarah May Ng, 12, initially turned down her mother’s invitation to join, but changed her mind when she found out that her friends were joining the conference.

The children had the opportunity to hear from God and list out their talents while they reflected on Matthew 20:28, “just as the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” They discovered what God intended for them to be using their talents to serve and build His Kingdom.

Amazingly, many responded to the next altar call of serving God full time. They were willing to dedicate their lives to Him even at such a young age. We praise God for the powerful work He has done in the lives of our young ones. We look forward to seeing them continue to encounter God powerfully in their own lives. We pray that they will grow deeper in their love and passion for God and use their talents for God’s Kingdom! We give thanks to God for the powerful encounters that the children had with Him.

On the last day, the children learned about Jesus’ love for them through his death on the cross and resurrection on the third day. When Pastor Joseph gave the altar call for salvation, fourteen children accepted Jesus as their Savior that day.

She experienced supernatural patience when she needed to work with her group to achieve certain game’s objectives. She felt carefree and comfortable with the positive and friendly atmosphere. She was surprised God touched her heart during praise and worship because she was not focused on her own negative self-conscious thoughts as usual but gave her full attention to God. She shared, “Learning God's word takes time, but in the end, it is fulfilling. I enjoyed myself and I hope many others will sign up for Life Conference Children Track next year." We give thanks to God for the powerful encounters that the children had with Him during worship and services in between the games. As Pastor Joseph Teo preached over the two days with the help of his three friends, Gordon Damsey, Baatricia and Priscasso, the children learned that God has good plans for every one of them. They also learned that He has blessed them with talents to be used for His glory.

Serena Lai (Year 4, NTU) was all smiles when she recounted the things that God spoke to her when she was being prayed for. “I am reminded that the place of surrender is a place of restoration. When I choose to come bare before God, just like how Jacob decided to be truthful before God, this allows the chains of guilt and shame to be broken and for me to receive God's full restoration.”

Johann Poon (NUS Leader) was heartened to experience breakthrough in his section’s community life. He quipped, “We have not been able to gather as one big section since the pandemic started and this conference has allowed us to do just that.“

A total of 172 Campus Ministry students and 25 oikos came together for the annual Campus Conference, Undivided, from July 11 to 14. The oikos turnout was unprecedented as Campus students stepped out boldly to invite their peers.

Undivided was a conference where Campus students received massive breakthroughs. Students found relationships strengthened, and their lives transformed by God’s amazing presence and power. Ashley Teo (Year 2, University at Buffalo) shared candidly that she did not have any expectations prior to attending the conference. Unsuspectingly, God touched her and she left the conference with strong convictions to live for Him with her heart undivided. She spoke, “through the extended times of praise and worship, I learned to focus on God with undivided attention. To seek Him in all that I do. In this new semester, I want to entrust everything to him without doubt!”

“What’s more, an oikos came for the BBQ and we were able to get to know him better and share Christ with him.” We saw many food bloggers and chefwannabes as campus students teamed up to make no-bake Oreo Cheesecake.

The sermons I Won’t Change My Mind by Pastor Wendy Chang and Pursue God’s Purpose without Terms and Conditions by Sister Elisa Tan imparted strong divine messages – to live an undivided life and to wholeheartedly pursue God alone.

Joylynn Teo’s (Year 2, NTU) oikos, Ruzzina, found the activities “unique and engaging” and had “a fun time bonding with her group and other groups alike through the whisking portion of the cheesecake making”. It was truly a battle of biceps and triceps while whisking.

It is common for campus students to do a short work stint during the summer holidays. Surrendering my summer holidays to God turned out to be better than my imagination.

Having been a Trinitarian all my life, I was always curious about the workings within the church. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH LEADERSHIP PASTORS

Issue 2 2022101 (Comms) in Trinity. It was my first choice! Comms’ mission is to be the mouthpiece of God through Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo. I was excited that this assignment is aligned with God’s purpose for my life! I was tasked with editorial work and was able to use my writing skills cultivated as a history major in NTU to serve the church.

One of the tremendous privileges of being a part of the CST program, is the opportunity to have Questions and Answers (Q&As) sessions with the leadership pastors of our church. One very memorable session was Prayers and Passion taught by Pastor Melvin. I learned from him that God can birth passions in us through times of prayer. He shared that when he was first assigned to serve in the Children’s Ministry, he was not the most passionate about it. Serving became laborious as a result. Thus, he went into a season of prayer, and God birthed in him a passion to minister to the children with joy! I realized sometimes God places us in a place that we may not comprehend or align with initially. But when we commit to prayer, God will change our hearts and bring us into alignment with His plans. In one of the Q&A sessions, it was a great honor to ask Lead Pastor Dominic why he is always full of faith. He shared with us the importance not to only depend on human wisdom but seek God’s divine wisdom. One example he cited was the building of Trinity@Paya Lebar. When the Board recommended to sell the Lavender property to fund the building project at Paya Lebar, he exhorted them to trust God for divine provision. As he exercised supernatural faith and trusted God, today we reap the fruits of faith. Another memorable session was a dialogue session with Lead Pastor Designate Gerald Tan. He shared that true godly success is not determined by human yard sticks and how many achievements we have had, but by giving our life to align with God’s Word in obedience. I have learned to be forward-looking with God’s promises than to be rooted in past victories and become stagnant in faith. These nine weeks in CST have been so enriching and have truly been an unforgettable experience!

Nicholas Ang, who was part of the AWAKEN planning committee, testified, “furthermore we did not know this prior, so God did postpone the event for a reason and provided an impeccable time for AWAKEN to take place successfully!” This was a breakthrough from God that the YAs experienced: to be able to have activities in big groups.

The plan for AWAKEN was scheduled to be held in May 2021, but it was cancelled due to the exponential surge of COVID-19 cases. The YAs were very disappointed. When the date was set for AWAKEN to be held on May 15 this year, it was done in faith without knowing that the government would loosen restrictions two weeks prior to the event day.

The long-awaited Young Adult (YA) event, AWAKEN, finally happened after more than two years of social distancing during the pandemic. More than 200 Trinitarians and oikos gathered on a rainy Sunday afternoon for AWAKEN on May 15, for a day of joyful fellowship.

Jared King from Area 4 brought three pre-believing friends and joined others in bowling. He shared, "it was heartening to see other Trinitarians connecting and bonding with my oikos. This made a good impression on my oikos and opened their heart towards more such events with church community.”

Through havetherelationshipsmeaningfulthisevent,amongbrothersandsistersdeepened.

AWAKEN TO LIFE AWAKEN started off with a mass game in the Chapel at Trinity@Paya Lebar where participants shared their thoughts with peers on different life topics. These topics ranged from work and life’s worries to dating and relationships. “COVID isolated and made life more challenging for many, so it’s great to see many young adults value a thriving life with God and church community,” said Jared Choo from Area 4. In view of such challenges, Lead Pastor Designate Gerald Tan shared with the young adults from John 10:10 that God has called all of them to live an abundant life – filled with joy, hope and victory. “It was a powerful reminder and a timely encouragement,” said AWAKEN committee member Esther Neoh.

AWAKEN TO COMMUNITY After the games and Pastor Gerald’s message, the young adults got into smaller groups to deepen connections through fun-filled activities.

Some groups went sightseeing at Haji Lane and Coney Island while others sweat it out at a trampoline park and rock-climbing centers. Others participated in laser tag, mini golf, coin pouch-making, and even a floral arrangement workshop led by Pastor Wendy Ong and Pastor Lee Mei Yee.

AWAKEN TO GOD As hearts were awakened to God, four people gave and rededicated their lives to Jesus. Through this meaningful event, relationships among the brothers and sisters have deepened. They were encouraged to continue to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Trinity’s Chinese Ministry created the opportunity for Trinitarians to invite their Mandarin-speaking fathers to hear local artistes Darren Lim, Evelyn Tan and Rayson Tan share their testimonies at the Father’s Day evangelistic event. The service halls were packed. What a beautiful sight it was to see Trinitarians with their loved ones and oikos. Darren did not live with his father when he was young. He never experienced a father’s love. In fact, his father was like a stranger to him. By His grace, our God is the God who heals our past. Today, Darren and his father’s relationship is restored. As Darren shared his testimony of restoration of his father-son relationship with his own father, it struck a similar chord with Trinitarian Tan Wei Hao. He also did not have a close relationship with his father. Being raised by his grandmother, he never had the chance to stay with his father. With a desire to share God’s love and bring restoration to their relationship, he took a step of faith and invited his father for the event and his father came. zěn me shuō translated as “how can love be expressed?” In our Asian culture, it can be challenging for fathers to express love to their children. same can be true for children to express love to their fathers. William brought his 90-year-old father, who was wheelchair bound, back to church once again. His father had not been able to attend church for quite a long time because of medical conditions. At the service, his father was reconnected to God through faith and decided to go for water baptism at the end of this year. Sometimes, we may think that God only looks out for us when we believe in Him. On the contrary, the Bible tells us in 1 John 4:10, “He loved us long before we loved him.”

For Artiste Rayson Tan, he shared how God saved him in his time of need even before he knew Jesus. After becoming a Christian, he was no longer superstitious, but he was able to fully entrust his life in God’s hands. We saw how God led Margaret and her sister who is part of the English congregation to call and invite their friend the night before the event. Their friend had come for a previous Easter production but did not receive Jesus then. Truly if we do not give up, we will reap a reward! That day when the altar call was given, their friend gave his life to Jesus. We thank God for 58 first-time visitors who came to join us at Trinity@Paya Lebar and Trinity@Bukit Batok. Nine people accepted Jesus into their hearts.

Darren and Evelyn shared the time when they were living on the boat with their children. They were sailing in Koh Samui when they experienced the tallest waves ever seen in their lives. Imagine six to seven meters high of waves crashing in. Despite the storm, God gave them peace and direction. When Darren prayed, God led him to navigate the boat in a safe direction and got his family out of danger. There is no storm that God cannot still, no circumstance that He cannot overcome.

He urged congregants to worship and pray for a great revival to come upon the world. Among other things, he highlighted the need to pray for unity of the global Assembly of God (AG) movement which consists of about 377,000 churches.

Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo, General Superintendent of AG Singapore and chairman of the GCOP 2022 organizing committee, said, “it was exciting to see God’s Word in Joel 2 come to pass as the Holy Spirit fell on believers across the world transcending time and space to pray with incredible unity.” He added, “God is looking for men and women to be builders of walls. That was lived out in GCOP 2022. During Singapore’s onsite segment at Trinity@Paya Lebar, I sensed a new excitement in the presence of God as we came before Him simply as we are.” Wilson Phang, Chaplain of Teen Challenge, said: “GCOP 2022 was the first time since COVID-19 that we have been able to gather physically to pray in Singapore alongside the global church.
