Издательство «Три квадрата» впервые издало на русском языке уникальный труд выдающегося финского историка архитектуры Ларса Петтерссона (1918–1996) «Архитектура деревянных церквей и часовен Заонежья», посвященный деревянному церковному зодчеству Русского Севера и опубликованный в 1950 г. в Хельсинки. Книга содержит результаты полной инвентаризации всех 133 деревянных церквей, часовен и колоколен Заонежского полуострова, проведенной Петтерссоном во время Второй мировой войны. Из них к настоящему времени сохранилось всего три десятка памятников. Таким образом, книга стала основным источником сведений по истории деревянного церковного зодчества Заонежья. Автор разработал систему типологии церквей и часовен, определил их строительные периоды, а также уделил большое внимание архитектурным деталям и строительным приемам. Указатель всех существовавших на тот период церквей и часовен Заонежья делает издание своего рода справочником. Книга содержит свыше 320 иллюстраций,
The Three Squares publishing house has first published in Russian a unique work by the outstanding Finnish architectural historian Lars Pettersson (1918–1996) Architecture of wooden churches and chapels of Zaonezhye, dedicated to the wooden Church architecture of Russian North and published in Helsinki in 1950. The book contains the results of a complete inventory of all 133 wooden churches, chapels and bell towers of the Zaonezhsky Peninsula, conducted by Pettersson during the Second World War. Of these, only three dozen monuments have been preserved to date. Thus, the book became the main source for the history of wooden Church architecture in Zaonezhye. The author developed a system of typology of churches and chapels, defined their construction periods, and also paid great attention to architectural details and construction techniques. The book contains an index of all the churches and chapels of Zaonezhye that existed at that time, which makes it a kind of reference book. The book contains over 320 illustrations, including the landscape part, consisting of photographs and drawings made by author in 1942–1944, other documents, as well as watercolors made by expedition member Oiva Helenius.
