espués de la cirugía de catarata siempre quedan algunos restos de células epiteliales del cristalino dentro del saco capsular a pesar del pulido exhaustivo que se realiza para intentar dejarlo lo más transparente al finalizar el procedimiento quirúrgico. Con el tiempo, estas células se multiplican y migran hacia la cápsula posterior provocando la opacificación de la misma. Por otra parte, se ha descrito que el diseño de ciertas lentes intraoculares pueden influir en la migración de las células epiteliales dentro del saco capsular, por lo que hay que tomar en cuenta este detalle a la hora de elegir el modelo de lente intraocular que va a ser implantada. ■

fter cataract surgery, some lens epithelial cells remain inside the capsular bag despite the exhaustive polishing undertaken in order to leave it as transparent as possible at the end of the surgical procedure. Over time, these cells multiply and migrate towards the posterior capsule causing it to opacify. Furthermore, it has been reported that the design of certain intraocular lenses may influence the migration of the epithelial cells inside the capsular bag. Therefore, this detail must be taken into account when selecting the model of intraocular lens to be implanted. ■
