“ I’m really goofy and I think people wouldn’t look at me and see that. I don’t take myself too seriously. ”

BELLA BLAQ

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us; tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. My style of music is difficult to explain. I’m an artist and songwriter that likes to bring different things to the industry, like story-telling through my music. When I’m in the studio writing a record, I think about how I want my listeners to feel. All my music, I really put a lot of thought into it and think of each of my releases almost as visual art. Q. Tell us about your new single “Hands on Me” and the motivation behind it? A. My motivation behind the record is the trials and tribulations I’ve gone through. As a single mother who has experienced racism and sexism, I want to show people that you can become anything you want. In life you’re always going to have “hands on you”. When I say hands on you, I mean you’re going to always have problems. It never ends. You still need to keep running and pushing through. It's ok to feel some type of way though, because we're all humans. You have to learn to overcome things without complaining about it and just knowing this is a part of life. I want the song to be a positive influence on people, to say “no pity parties, keep pushing”. It doesn’t stop. Q. Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years? A. On top of the world. I’m very spiritual. I know what god is showing me, saying “Look Bella, this is your time”. I see myself with awards, that kind of thing. I see myself doing what I want to do and I don’t see myself being held back in any way. Q. How would you describe the music that you typically create? A. I like to describe my music as very impactful, especially if you take the time to listen to my lyrics. Don’t get me wrong, the music is wavy, but I think if people sit down

and listen to the words, I feel like they will see I’m someone they can relate to. It’s the worst thing when someone tells you they understand, when they really don’t. I know a lot of women have been through what I’ve been through. I want to be that person that people can look up to and say “if she did it, I KNOW I can do it” Q. Who would you like to collaborate with? A. Drake, for sure. Andre 3000 - oh my god, girl, I would faint. He is so dope to me as a person. Missy Elliott. Don Oliver - he’s super dope. Q. How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business? A. I think the internet has helped the music business a little. It benefits the music industry right now especially with COVID, we can’t travel or do many live shows so it’s dope that I can reach people in places I never even thought about travelling to. Q. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? A. I wouldn’t change anything. I think that the industry is exactly where it needs to be. Everything has to have a balance. It can’t be perfect. If it

was, it wouldn’t be fun. I wouldn’t change it, and it is what it is. Q. Are you working on any new events or projects? A. I have two new singles and visuals coming out early next year. I can’t disclose the song names just yet, but I think you’re going to love them. Q. What is one fun fact about yourself? A. I’m really goofy and I think people wouldn’t look at me and see that. I don’t take myself too seriously. People always say “You look so mean”, but I’m not even thinking about them. It helps me to not take myself too seriously, it’s therapeutic really. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. Follow me on Instagram: @thebellablaq

one way, it’s not always smooth- it has jagged edges. Love is Strange! The Motivation behind it was to create a song that felt great and was authentic to who we are (referring to my writer partner/artist feature Homer Mc and I. Also, I represent the ATL and feel that this song gives you a vibe of back in the day with a new school hint. Q. How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. My name is “Butta B-Rocka” I am an independent international recording artist and songwriter. The best-selling author of “Fear of Failure, Fear of Not Trying”, a playwright, for “I Cheated So What”, Editor- in-Chief for “Defiant Ones Teen Magazine”, and CEO founder of “Artists Rock the MIC Foundation”. Q. What inspired you to make music? A. I’ve had a love for music since I was four years old after seeing Diana Ross on TV! I had never seen anyone so glamorous; I saw the look of the crowd singing, smiling and cheering her on and I knew then, that was something I wanted to do when I grew up. Q. How would you describe the music that you typically create? A. My music is diverse- I love all genre’s – so my projects are typically a melting pot. My new single “Strange Luv” is alternative pop soul. Q. Who are some artists you would like to collab with? A. I would love to collaborate with Brandy, Chrisette Michele, Timberland, Missy Elliott, OutKast, Tank, Janelle Monae, and Joe to name a few. Q. Tell us about your new single “Strange Luv” and the Motivation behind it? A. I’m super excited about my new single! You know Love is messy, it’s unconventional, there is no straight

A. The internet has been a blessing and sometimes a curse. The blessings, especially for an independent artist, like myself is that it allowed us to have a fair chance of getting distribution. You know, back in the day, you would not have been able to get your music played on digital platforms without having a major label behind you. We now have that opportunity to have our music shared globally on Apple Music, Pandora, IHeart Radio, etc. but the flip side. I also think people’s talents are being overlooked sometimes by not having the numbers behind them on social media to compete with the majors. Or some people are becoming Instagram or TikTok famous not based on substance- but based on their looks or acting silly to go viral. Think about it, every single day there are millions of posts, tweets, stories shared, how does one truly stand out? It’s much easier if you are a major, they already have followers but for newer artist or indie artist, it’s a bit tougher to stand out at times. Q. What has been your biggest accomplishment being a music artist? A. I have the amazing pleasure to have worked with some incredible artists; projects doing demos, recordings, or live shows. Such as; Akon, Nas, Kanye West, Janet Jackson, Collective Soul, Zac Brown, and more. These were all amazing experiences, and I have toured the world, seeing beautiful places and meeting some really dope people. But nothing compares to the feeling of completing your own projects. You know music is very personal. We are vulnerable, letting people into our thoughts, our worlds, and experiences of pain and Love and hoping that our listeners support us and accept us.

A. I’m actually very goofy and love to laugh. Also, ironically, I’m honestly bashful when it comes to one on one intimate type settings, but put me on a major stage, and I’m fine smh. Q. Out of all the places you have been in the world, what has been your most memorable one? A. My most memorable moment is my first tour to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was a fantastic experience. Ironically, it was nothing like the pictures I had envisioned in my head. It was full of riches, and they also had areas were the poverty was unthinkable, none like I had seen before. I had never seen people actually living in tin huts or mud homes; that was new to me. Children had an appreciation for simple things like pens and flip flops, something we often take for granted, I also saw pride, pride for their country and heritage. It was a tour I will always remember, and I hope to go back there. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. You can follow me at buttabrocka.com. Jonathan Gatsby

The third book is called, The Quest for the Forbidden Books. More details are forthcoming next year upon the planned release.

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. My pleasure. My name is Jonathan Gatsby and I am a publisher and the author of the series “The Wars between Angels & Gods,” and the series “World War III”.

Q. What made you want to study archaeology? A. Honestly? I wanted to be Indiana Jones. Funny, I actually had the entire outfit at one point!

Q. When did you realize you wanted to be a writer? A. At the age of 17 in the Fairbanks Youth Correctional Facility. It was while serving detention for protecting a friend from a bully that I would be introduced to Harry Potter and spark an interest in fantasy fiction. They say you can’t just wake up and decide to start writing, but that is exactly what happened to me. With 15 sheets of paper, and plenty of time in my cell, my writing career began. Honestly though, throughout my entire 5 years of high-school I only attended a handful of English classes. I disliked writing, and still detest paperwork to this day. So, becoming an author was definitely not what I had in mind. But it has certainly become my greatest passion. Q. Tell us about your book series “The Wars Between Angels & Gods” and the motivation behind it? A. The book series will be a series of seven books. In the first book, 4 diverse group of teenagers who live and go to school in the Southside of Chicago, discover that they are

allowed to attack each other. How far are the Demigods willing to go to win this tournament and can their relationships and sanity survive it? Asgard has finished reforming and joins in on the tournaments, as do the Egyptian deities, and Hawaiian deities.

Seriously though, I am drawn to ancient mythology and religions. Hence, why my writings are centered around them. It is definitely a great deal of influence from my religious upbringing in why I infuse biblical elements of angels and demons and combine them with deities from various civilizations to create my literary thrillers. Demigods. They must learn to use their powers as they compete in the first tournament, on the Creator’s side against the Fallen Angels seeking to defeat the Creator in a series of tournaments that if the Fallen Angels win would mean the destruction of earth. The Demigods must face off against four beasts chosen by the Fallen Angels-Arachne, Fenrir, Chiron, and Leviathan. The arena is the entire planet and nobody is safe. In the second book, the Demigods face off against two of Lucifer’s sons. 73 beasts and monsters are released from the Labyrinth onto the earth and the team that kills the most by the time all 73 beasts and monsters are killed wins the tournament. The teams are also

Q. Where do you get your ideas and creativity from for your books? A. The Bible, Greek mythology, Norse mythology, Hawaiian deities, Egyptian Mythology, and for the demigods, just everyday life. I found links and connections between each religion, cross over figures, such as Lucifer, Orion, the angel who rolled the stone away from Jesus’ grave had the appearance of Lightning, just like Zeus and Thor, Leviathan/ Jörmungandr, and more. As far as creativity, I don’t plan ahead when writing, I just stay writing and let the events create the outcome. I let each scene decide what comes next to make it realistic. I never plan for any of the characters to die, but if the plot calls for them to, I don’t mysteriously save them.

Q. Can you give any advice or tips on writing a book? A. You may find this funny, but the best advice I can give when you’re in the process of writing a book is be well nourished and be well rested. Make sure you’re away from distractions, find settings that are conducive to writing and inspire you. Personally, when I hit a writer’s block I start listening to rain and thunder sounds on my phone to get me back into the writing groove. Q. This is a new year what are some of your goals for 2021? A. As the Brain said on Pinky and the Brain, the same goal I have every year; try and take over the world.

Haha… well, at least, take over the book world by becoming the number 1 best-selling author of all times. Q. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books? A. That I can be inspired by anything and everything. I get an idea for a book, and I just delve right into studying and writing. Q. Tell us about “The Beasts and The 4 Demigods” and the reviews you received from that book?

A. I had to pull my first book back due to some editing issues and ended up spending money on editor after editor, until I met Emily Gleeson, the best editor in the entire universe. Upon republishing, I have received reviews comparing my book to the Percy Jackson series and the Harry Potter series. The reviews while still only a few are amazing. Most of the reviews have compared me to author JK Rowling or expressed how much they loved my books. As of recent, I have received a review published by The Los Angeles Tribune, saying that The Beasts & the 4 Demigods is “the next fantasy epic that will dominate the literary world.” And, referring to me being “the next JK Rowling”. I am beyond humbled and ecstatic all at the same time. Q. Where can our readers follow you? A. Glynis Albright

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I am a Wife to my junior high school sweetheart; Mother of two adult children, Selina and Brandon; and Businesswoman owning Glynis’ Products, Inc. which holds beneath its wings five different gourmet food lines. I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. I grew up there and also, in South Central Los Angeles. You’ll mostly find me to have a very upbeat, perky temperament. I love the Lord and am grateful for the gift of life, as my life has been touched and go a few times. I love to cook, bake, dance, and do word puzzles. By profession, I am a Nutritional Therapist. I have been creating foods for people with various health challenges for over 25 years. I also enjoy just blessing people (just because) by sending them home-cooked surprises through the mail. PRE-Covid, I was known for causing most of my friends and colleagues to rearrange their travel schedules just so they can visit my home to get a special blessing from my home kitchen. Q. Who or what motivated you into the culinary field? A. When I became ill back in the early ‘90’s, my diet and lifestyle had to change. I was practically bed-ridden but didn’t want to be. During my visits to the hospitals for various therapies, I met other men and women who were suffering like me. I’m a talker. Through conversations with strangers, I decided to start a food line that would assist with our healing processing. As I got stronger and stronger, I decided to try offering these treats to others who were health challenged as well as those people who were health conscious and wanted to guard their bodies against dis-ease. I found out that people were willing to pay me to do it for them. I opened two Just Sweet Enough® locations in Simi Valley, California and the rest is history. I’ve always enjoyed cooking and baking. With my

heavy science background, creating a gourmet line that promotes healing was the next best thing!! Just Sweet Enough® was my first gourmet food line. Q. Tell us about Glynis’ Kitchen Scratch Mix and the motivation behind it? A. In January of 2020, Glynis’® Products dba Glynis’ Kitchen® was picked up by TJMaxx company stores: HomeGoods, TJMaxx, Marshall’s, and HomeSense. The product buyer who I was working with since November of 2018 asked me if I had any other products besides my waffle and all-purpose coating mixes. At that time, they were my only two products. She suggested that I add to my product line, some sort of basic mix that home bakers could use to make other comfort food items like cookies and cakes. I took her advice and created Glynis’ Kitchen® Scratch Mix. That mix

comes in a huge 48oz box, which allows home bakers to prepare 2-3 recipes from one box. Like all of my other Glynis’® Products, there are no artificial sweeteners, additives, or dyes. In August, the buyer purchased ALL pallets of Glynis’ Kitchen® Scratch Mix to be distributed to 750 TJMaxx company stores; that covers three of their five regions (the Midwest, South, and East coast stores). Q. Can you tell us how you earned the nickname “The Waffle Queen” and “The Sweet Potato Poundcake Lady” and the meanings behind them? A. Yes, of course. I have been making my waffles since 1977 when I was a sophomore at UCLA. It became a meal that my friends have asked for when visiting my home ever since. Fast-forward to the ‘90’s, when most of my friends and I had started our

families, I was donned The Waffle Queen. I believe the name came about because there were three generations eating my waffles as all of my friends’ parents were asking for my waffles, too!! When I became ill in the early ‘90’s, sweet potatoes became a huge part of my daily life, as I needed to have beta-carotene in my diet. At the time, sweet potato pies were a very popular item on just about every Soul Food restaurant menu. I wanted to do something different. I created Sweet Potato Poundcake as one of the items offered through the Just Sweet Enough® gourmet line and it was my best seller!! Those who didn’t know my name would call me The Sweet Potato Poundcake Lady. Q. What is your favorite dish to make? A. My favorite dish is anything that my family members or close friends ask for me to prepare for them. I love seeing the expressions of satisfaction on their faces when they eat what I have prepared. I really don’t have one favorite dish. My palate changes with my mood. I will cook or bake just about anything that looks and tastes good. Q. How was your experience serving your foods on the Dave Koz and Friends Australia Cruise? A. It was quite an experience. I have thanked Dave numerous times for the opportunity to share my products through the years with his cruisers. This was the first time that a pallet, wrapped and sealed with cases of my waffle mix was loaded onto the belly of the ship to be served in the Main Dining Room of the ship!! In 2007, after being recognized by The Food Network Channel, I started appearing on jazz cruises with my husband, Gerald Albright. It first started out with me doing demonstrations. I would talk for about 30 minutes, sharing my testimony as a cancer survivor and how I combined my knowledge and experience in the health and wellness field to the culinary field.

During the Q & A, samples of my treats were being passed around to those who attended my cooking hour. My first class held 150 people. Each time I’d have a class, it would grow. By 2015, my audience had changed. They had outgrown the taste- testing stage. They wanted to whole thing, not just a nibble. The chefs began to use my recipes to serve my dishes for the late-night crowds. The Australian Cruise was for TWO runs. 7,000 people were present on the ship. 3,600 each week. To be given the opportunity to share my talents with that many people at one time was incredible!! I felt so blessed and I am honored to say that Dave Koz is one of my dearest musical friends.

Q. Can you give us a little detail on your journey of how you got to where you are today? A. Whenever I pinch myself, I always say, “God certainly have a sense of humor!” I am elated at where He has taken me. I wouldn’t change a thing. Short version: I went from science student to a very sick person, to using what I have learned in science to create five different food lines to being recognized all over the world. God has been the driver in my life. I’ve had some tosses and turns along the way, but I see the reason for all of my pitfalls and obstacles. They have all made me stronger and have prepared me for the issues of today. I have no regrets and I am honored to be a vehicle to communicate through my talents to everyone I meet.

Q. You are working on a book. Can you tell us what the book will be about? A. The working title of the book is “The Love of My Life”. The book will be filled with love stories. I will share my relationship with various members of my family and close friends who have helped me to love food. The stories will start from my Great-Grandmother and will take you through time, up to me being a Mother, cooking for my own kids. The recipe of the food that brought us together will be shared. The book is long overdue. When my Mother transitioned a few years ago, I lost my writing mojo. I am back!! I am currently working on the second draft (and proofing) with hopes that the next draft will be the final draft. Q. What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a position in the culinary field? A. This advice I give to just about everyone I meet who is starting a business, no matter which industry. I call it Glynis’ Business CPR. Create. Protect. Release. Step One: Create something that sets you apart from everyone else. Something unique. If it’s something that is popular, make sure that your creation is exceptional. Step Two: Protect your product. Protect its name. Protect its design. Protect your business logo. No short cuts. Do whatever is necessary the first time so that it is trademarked and safe from bad folks out there who can steal an idea from under you. Step Three: Release it. Release to the demographic that’s part of your plan, may it be just your family and friends, your neighborhood, nationwide, or globally. Release can also mean to sell it to another company. If so -- nothing wrong with that. Just repeat the steps all over again. Q. What has been the biggest accomplishment you have had in your life?

A. On a personal level, my biggest accomplishment has been to say that I have given life to two beautiful human beings, Selina and Brandon. I’ve raised them with my husband, Gerald and they have turned out to be two wonderful adults with their own businesses. Couldn’t be prouder. On a business level, my biggest accomplishment has been landing HomeGoods, Zulily, and QVC accounts all during the pandemic!! Having all three has given me more exposure globally than ever. HomeGoods has my products on their shelves; Zulily.com has 5 distribution centers in Singapore, the UK, and Australia; QVC.com will

be carrying my products on their website soon!! Q. Where can the audience follow you? A. My website is GlynisKitchen. com for ordering product. I can be followed on three different social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I also have a YouTube Channel. Just check under Glynis Albright, Glynis’ Kitchen or @InsideGlynisKitchen to find my products and me. Durell Peart Q. It is a pleasure to interview with you. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I want to first say that I feel honored and blessed for the chance to share a bit about my story and myself. My name is Durell Peart. I am originally from Brooklyn NY, but I was raised and still currently reside in the “City Beautiful” of Orlando Florida. I am a speaker, artist manager, and music business consultant. I am the founder of an artist management and marketing company called Double N Management & Marketing Group, LLC. I help indie creatives navigate the business side of the music industry. I think education is often the missing link for the majority of the creatives that I encounter so I’m big on helping them to create a framework for success. I think community is so important for indie creatives because of the ability to super-serve them and create a core audience. The core message of my brand for helping indie creatives is by building community they can

achieve success without having to be signed to a major record label. Q. What made you want to be in the entertainment industry? A. When I get asked this question, I always say that the entertainment industry found me. I got my first taste of the industry by being a member of a local Orlando based hip-hop dance group called H.Y.P.E. (Hottest Young People’s Entertainment) We performed during the Florida Classic Weekend Battle Of The Bands Event where the crew brought me out at the end of the freestyle session as I danced with my crutches having been born with a disability called Cerebral Palsy. I performed my part of the routine in front of 18,000 people and I knew that the bug to pursue a career in the entertainment industry had bitten me. I did know though that I wanted to learn the business side, so I was fortunate to meet my mentor and big

brother Lashon Jones. He took me under his wing and taught me how to navigate the industry. The entertainment industry at its core is all about people and the ability to build quality relationships. I really feel these are the two things that I am truly great at which is why I love what I do. Q. Tell us about this new App Clubhouse and what your experience has been being on this App? A. Clubhouse is definitely the new wave. I really love the app because to me the app is truly about social networking. What I also like is the fact that if you like engaging with others and adding value to meaningful conversations then you can build some quality relationships that can definitely generate leads for business owners. I also love going into the music related rooms and it basically mirrors a similar WIB Magazine

experience that I’d have when I attend music conferences. The type of industry pros on the app who enjoy sharing great information that can help indie creatives create a framework for success is also what makes the experience I’ve had on Clubhouse really great and definitely worth my time. Q. Let’s talk about your episode as a guest “Finding Direction” podcast and the motivation behind it? A. My episode as a guest on the “Finding Direction” Podcast was a great experience. I was initially

approach by a girl named Annie Clancy on Instagram and she let me know that she had researched me and that she thought my story was interesting enough for me to be a guest on her boss Stu Massengil’s podcast. Stu Massengil is one of Tony Robbins’ national trainers. The “Finding Direction” podcast is designed for young adults between the ages of twenty and thirty who feel lost and need to find direction. Stu and his team work diligently to find guests who are passionate and fulfilled to reverse engineer their life to get strategies, tactics, and actionable steps that his listeners can use and

apply to help themselves. The title of my episode was called “Embrace Your Gifts” and I think what attracted Stu to my story and journey was the fact that I was born with a special need and that even with the limitations and impairments that I have to deal with daily I haven’t let any of that stop me from chasing and pursuing my dreams in the entertainment industry. Stu has had many influential guests on his podcast and I really felt honored that he felt that my story was interesting enough to expose me to his audience. I’m so glad we have the vehicle of social media where those who deem what we do to be valuable to them can find us. Q. Tell us a little of your testimony and journey of how you became the man you are today? A. My testimony and journey has been very interesting. I think starting out the gate being diagnosed with a disability called Cerebral Palsy definitely put me at a disadvantage simply because of the fact that I am limited on certain physical things that I can do, but for me I simply refused to let that stop me from pursuing my passion. I feel very fortunate to have discovered something in life that I absolutely love doing. I think there are so many people in life who truly never discover their passion that will drive them to keep going in life. I thank the good man above for blessing me with a passion and a personality that’s inviting and attractive to people. My experiences in life have given me the ability to always approach every situation with the “glass half full” mentality because that’s always simply been my outlook on life. Choosing a non-traditional career path in the entertainment industry goes right along with the fact that I always saw myself as someone who didn’t want to do the corporate suit and tie job because I don’t think it fit into who I wanted to be professionally. I feel like I’ve mastered the art of how to build and maintain influential and meaningful relationships over the course of my 35 years

of life. I know that part of mission in life is to be an inspiration and encouragement to others and that continues to keep me pushing forward. Q. I see you are a partner with “New Skool Rules”, the largest international urban music conference and festival in Europe. Tell us more details about how you got involved? A. This is a great question. I have been a partner with New Skool Rules since 2019. I first connected with Henca Maduro and her husband/partner Greg in January 2018 when I attended the conference and festival for the first time in Rotterdam, Netherlands. I loved the fact that I was introduced to such a great event focused on international urban music. Henca is a music industry veteran for over twenty plus years with a focus of helping creatives establish their global footprint in several countries. New Skool Rules initially started as a non-profit because Henca saw a need that creatives in the Netherlands had exceptional talent but there wasn’t an infrastructure in place to help them with the proper education and networking opportunities to build a successful career as a creative which is why she started the conference and festival. I believe she has had 10 or so editions of New Skool Rules where she has provided a platform for the urban music industry professionals from all over the world to come to Europe to get educated, network and build the relationships that can help all of us take our situations to the next level. When I got the opportunity to build with Henca I saw a great opportunity for us both to bring value to each other. I realized that my mission in helping indie creative create a framework to build and establish a core audience, I believe a major building block in that framework is being global. I saw a great opportunity to align together because I work with a lot of indie creatives who have never traveled outside of the country to perform, and I knew that Henca is always on the lookout for great new untapped talent that needs to be exposed globally as well as them

needing to expand their network and global footprint. I approached her in October of 2019 and asked if we can work together as I can help to bring creatives from the USA to the Netherlands for their first international festival performance. I also looked at this opportunity to create a position within my brand to establish myself as a global connector, so it made perfect sense to get involved. I consider Henca & Greg great partners, colleagues and friends of mine.

“ I thank the good man above for blessing me with a passion and a personality that’s inviting and attractive to people. "

Q. What invention does not get a lot of love but has greatly improved the world? A. My answer for this one might be a bit off the grid but for me it’s the dating apps. I think it has really help people like me expand my social circle and hopefully find a connection that could lead to love. This is something that is important to me and I’m sure to many other people around the world. Q. It’s a new year, what are some of your goals for the year? A. Yes, we are definitely in a New Year; so, let me also wish everyone a Happy & Prosperous New Year. I have a few goals for the new year and a couple of them are to finish my e-Book and the other is to create a course to help creatives establish their brand position. Online courses and e-Books are definitely a way for me to continue to monetize and create additional equity within my personal brand.

that it’s all about the glitz and glam that will equal success, but I often say that success in the industry is about falling in love with the work and the process that ultimately leads to success. Let me take a quick minute to speak to the indie creatives who want to be in front of the camera. Please remember that success is relative. I was told by one of my mentors that no two people achieve success the exact same way. So many creatives think they need the music industry to be successful in the music business and that’s simply just not true. As an indie creative when you’re intentional about building community and knowing the problems in which you are solving that is a key ingredient for building success. Q. Where can the readers follow you?

Q. Can you give us any tips or advice to someone who wants to be in this industry? A. I can for sure give a few words of advice for anyone who wants to enter into and build a career in the entertainment/music industry. The entertainment/music industry is first and foremost a people industry. I strongly feel that if anyone who wants a career in the industry, they must become great networkers and relationship builders. Relationships are the life-blood of a long career in our industry. I also think a common misconception that creatives and even some industry pros have is

Combining the modalities of mindset coaching and business strategy I assist my clients with reclaiming their power by gaining clarity, mastering their brand, gaining established authority, attracting opportunities and exposure through PR and accelerating their Personal Brand or Business.

Q. What does “Imperfectly Perfect” mean to you and why did you pick this name for your business? A. Being Imperfectly Perfect to me is a way of life. We grow up in a world forming ideals of what’s deemed perfect and what’s not. It’s about realizing flaws and all. The imperfections in each and every one of us is what makes us perfect. I chose the name to represent my organization because I wanted to make a cultural shift in the way mental health was often stigmatized. People often wont and don’t talk

about their mental health because of the time old stigma that is often attached or beliefs that there is something wrong with us if we are struggling or not holding up to this ideal of being ok, being perfect. Q. Tell us about this new App Clubhouse and what your experience has been like being on this App? A. I am loving it. The networking, the connections and authentic relationships that are being made. I love that the visual aspect we often see on other socials has been completely removed. It’s an audio-based app, so people really get to know a person by listening to them and not making assumptions or pre-judgement on people. I think we are seeing a new era of genuine connection really being made. Q. What are some of your goals you have for this year? A. For Imperfectly Perfect, it is about continuing to spread our message further to create a cultural change in the way mental health is spoken about. We moved into the corporate wellness space earlier last year to provide International Wellness Workshops and Programs for leading organizations as well, so a big goal is to continually push these efforts to disrupt corporate silence and get the education around mental health being openly spoken about and led from the top to create a ripple effect , not only to employees, but also to families of those employees who then take the education and resources they learn from us into the family home. As far as my consulting goes, continue to work with some incredible people within the entertainment industry and see them shine on stage or off. There is no better feeling watching your clients take back their power and being in control of their life and growing not only in their professional life but personal lives also.

Q. Can you tell us more about your podcast and what makes it different than others? A. Sure, the ImperfectlyPerfect Podcast I get to chat and hear the personal stories of some of the world’s most highly acclaimed faces, influencers and corporate leaders who have all faced extreme adversity. I am truly blown away at the response from people around the world reaching out and resonating with the stories being shared and mostly that people are sharing their own stories after listening to the stories shared on the podcast. Q. What are some things you do when you are not working? A. For me, my downtime is all about my family. My wife, Catareeya, my son Lincoln and daughter Leighton. Taking trips away each weekend, putting the phones away and just being present. If I am not with my family or working, you will most likely find me at the gym. Q. What are 3 things you love about Australia?

A. 1: Being originally from the UK, I love what seems like a neverending summer here in Australia. Everybody pretty much entertains, eats and lives outdoors year-round. 2: I love the Australian laid-back lifestyle and culture. 3. I love the fact that living in such a beautiful country with access to beaches on your doorstep, it literally feels like a holiday yearround. Q. “ As a kid I was always into being the center of attention, in a positive way of course, but I enjoyed making people laugh, sharing factual information, and sharing my outgoing personality, so, being on TV was just a way I could do all of that, plus so much more"

Malik Wilson

Q. It is a pleasure to interview with you. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I’m Malik Wilson, a Television Personality from Mebane, North Carolina. I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University (The GREATEST HBCU on Earth) with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. While at NCAT, I played football and won a few national championships. Upon graduation, I played a short tenure of professional football before becoming an on-air personality, which I love and enjoy deeply!

comes with the business of live TV, right? But, to keep it brief I’d say ONE OF my most embarrassing moments would be when I got to my live shot 5-minutes before I hit live… and let’s just say I wasn’t prepared on the topic and literally froze when my producer said “you’re on air, talk.” because I didn’t know what to say and I was unprepared.. lol, but that was when I first got in the business last year… My ad-libing has since improved and I can talk on almost anything in a second notice all thanks to that day! Q. What are your goals for 2021?

Q. What motivated you to be a TV host/ Journalist? A. As a kid I was always into being the center of attention, in a positive way of course, but I enjoyed making people laugh, sharing factual information, and sharing my outgoing personality, so, being on TV was just a way I could do all of that, plus so much more. I also enjoy using my platform to be a voice for so many who feel they don’t have a voice or simply want to be heard. Q. Tell us about this new App Clubhouse and what your experience been like on this app? A. LOL. Clubhouse.. Clubhouse is a really great APP if you use it correctly. Great for networking and sharing and learning important knowledge from professionals in their respective fields that you probably couldn’t receive elsewhere. It’s raw, unedited conversations that are priceless. Me and Cece actually met through my first-time using Clubhouse. We were on that APP for maybe 10+ hours, but we’ve grown to become great cyber friends. I’ve since created a Club called International Media Family, which Cece is a part of, and we basically give anyone in media whether on tv, radio, podcast, etc. a safe place to learn and even talk everyday life outside of the usual hustle and bustle that we ALL go through. Q. We talked about this on the new app clubhouse. What has been the most embarrassing moment you have had in your field of work? A. Most embarrassing moment? I have a ton, lol I think that

A. My goals for 2021, first and foremost, is to continue building my spiritual relationship with God, but also to continue elevating in my career, find a new contract as a TV Host, and also devote more time and resources to helping those around me to succeed.

only I am the host. But you guys can check it out on my Instagram @ Malikwilsontv AND from there slide over to YouTube and subscribe for the best interviews by me!

Q. Let’s talk about your podcast “The Hot Seat” and the motivation behind it?

A. Yep, I was kind of influenced to play football. I began playing later than most. But I was a sophomore in high school when I first picked up a football and even got a starting position on the varsity team. Simply put, from there I went on to be pretty good, picking up a scholarship from North Carolina A&T State University (The GREATEST HBCU ON Earth) which is a division-1 program. From there, I went on to play in the Canadian Football League where I ultimately got hurt and decided I wanted to pursue my career in the TV world.

A. The HOT Seat Podcast features celebrity and public figure interviews with me co-hosting with my former NCAT football teammate, Justin Cates. Every guest visiting the world’s most ENTERTAINING Podcast is grilled with their signature blend of honesty and humor. The results are the best interviews to be found on the internet. He recently picked up a contract with the CFL so he’s been a little busy transitioning from the media world back to the sports world so we’ve been a little slack doing interviews, but we’ll be back stronger than ever when the time is right. In the meantime, I’ve started a new YouTube series called “Who’s That Guest?” which basically is a spinoff of The HOT Seat Podcast

Q. You also was an Athlete. Tell us how you got started and why you no longer play?

Q. Tell us who has been your biggest supporter in life? A. My family, friends, and fraternity brother! Q. What is an invention that does not get a lot of love but has greatly improved the world? A. Plastic silverware, plates, and cups! A guy like me is always on the go and I don’t have time to be washing dishes 24/7 and I REFUSE TO watch dishes pile up in the sink. Q. Marian Johnson

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. Hey there! Everybody! I’m Marian Johnson. I’m from VA Beach and I’m an upcoming artist. Q. Who or What motivated you to be a singer? A. Well, my family sings. We relate to singing families like The Pace Sisters, The Clark Sisters & The Braxton’s. I’m number 8 of 10 siblings so I always thought no one wanted to hear lil’ ol me. I felt like I had to fight to be heard. My sister Melissa has the most angelic voice. I fell in love with her singing since we were kids! I wanted to sing like her! Q. How was your experience being on the Tamron Hall show? A. Where do I start?! My goodness, what an experience. First of all, I hadn’t eaten in about 4 days! My anxiety was through the roof! I couldn’t sleep either! But I never stopped visualizing me on the show. The producer was sent my video of “Better Days” by her mother. She said she cried when she heard it and had to let the rest of the show’s producers listen too! They agreed to let Tamron hear and she love it as well. Stephanie, the producer, tried to contact me on FB but couldn’t get a response. She said she looked at my friends’ list to see who seemed close to me. She saw my brother’s name and phone and contacted him! My brother texted me something completely different and I still didn’t understand so I checked my social media myself. There was a message request from her. I contacted her. I was skeptical, like what and who is this person!! She was so sweet and encouraging. I felt honored and that’s when the anxiety and fear crept in. I constantly prayed and meditated until the show. I am a very spiritual person, and everyone knows I love the Lord. I never have felt a connection so strong between Him and I as the day to perform approached. I needed HIM! He knows my heart; He knows my mind, so I looked to him for guidance and assurance. My family and friends were SO supportive! I was blown away. With all the support and God on my side I couldn’t back down or let succumb to the fear. I was ready! The night before the show I had to rehearse with Stephanie on Skype. My daughter stood in the background off camera in awe of me. I began to sing... Got to the high part and NOTHING! Absolutely

NOTHING! No sound would come out! I began to sweat and my stomach turned. My daughter looked at me in disbelief. I felt sick! I apologized and told Stephanie I would try again. She assured me that it was ok and that she believed I would do well! I continuously apologized and told her I will be ready tomorrow and that’s a promise! Show Day! I couldn’t sleep just like the days before. I still had that feeling in my stomach but tried to ignore it. As I was getting dressed and prepared my anxiety skyrocketed. Ooooo I felt like I wasn’t going to make it. All of a sudden, my Mom calls me. She had just had 2 major strokes and was released a week or so before. Mom needed help getting dressed. Helping my mom calmed my anxiety and

the segment right before I sang, I mouthed the word “JESUS!” Because it was, He that has bought me this far! I’m so grateful for these opportunities that God has prepared for me. Everyone in the past had told me NO, but God says yes! Q. Where do you see yourself in next 3 years? A. I see myself topping several charts and music platforms. Performing across the world and major events. I just want to be heard from the north to the south and to the east and west. Q. What has been one of your biggest challenges being in the industry? A. Building my team! So many people say they will and can do this and that but when it’s time to put up they shut up. Finding people with a similar vision as you are difficult so you must pave your own way. Q. Can you give some advice to someone that wants to be in this industry? A. Be fearless! Go after your dreams. Write down your vision/ goals and make it plain. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do! Be your own motivation! Push yourself. And most of all love on yourself, give yourself a pat on the back when you do well! Q. If you were in an arena full of people what would be a song you would sing? A. Somewhere Over the Rainbow or Look At Me.

gave me something else to do and think about while waiting for the show to start. I was going to sing along with a track but 1 was too slow and the other was too fast. Stephanie suggested I sing acapella. I agreed! We ran over the song once before the show started to film. It was a success. Stephanie said the entire production staff gave me a round of applause! I was relieved. The show soon started afterwards. My daughter stood off camera and cheered on me silently. I was sooo proud in that moment to have my daughter witness me following my dreams. Tamron introduced me and asked some questions then it was time! If you look back at

Q. If magic was real what spell would you try to learn first? A. I would learn how to change hate into love! Q. Are you working on any events or projects for 2021? A. Yes! I’m working on my own project finally! 6 song EP. It’s going to be versatile. I love all music, so I definitely want to show how passionate I am for all genres. Q. Where can the audience follow you? “Write down what you want your life to look like and make a small commitment every day to living it! ”

TANIA RICHARDSON

This gave me the time I needed to figure out how I wanted to launch my new venture. Even though the world was in an uproar, I knew I had to launch my idea because I had thought about it for a year. And usually, when we have an idea and put it off, someone comes along and launches our idea. I couldn’t let this happen. I did not want to look back and say, “I should have,” or “I could have.” But the reason to launch was a bit different. I’m not someone who moves in fear, so I stayed focused on my new venture. The minute I decided to press the “go” button God started giving me ideas to the point where I could not sleep at night. I was up at 2 am receiving ideas from God. Also, I heard God say clearly, “If you do not do this now, that’s it.” That was the turning point. Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. My name is Tania Richardson. I grew up in Philadelphia. My Mom was a single parent. I attended The Creative and Performing Arts High School, and I was a dance major. My graduating class produced two members of Boyz II Men and Questlove! My first job experience was with Urban Outfitters. It was then that my love of fashion grew! In 1989 I left Philly and joined the army at the age of 17. I have covered multiple disciplines with over 15 years of owning and operating three businesses. I own an insurance agency, I am a commercial actress, a Desert Storm Army veteran, an avid traveler, and a former Real Housewives of Atlanta season two recurring cast member who strives for perfection. I’m a mother of a seventeen-year-old son who I successfully co-parent with my former fiancé and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Kordell Stewart, and I am an individual who pushes the envelope while pushing others to create their best work.

Q. Tell us about your business “Hey LadyTM ” and the motivation behind it? A. I started pinning fashion and travel images on Pinterest three years ago. Before I knew it, my following hit 100k views per month. I knew I had something however, I wasn’t sure how to mesh everything together. I knew that whatever I created, it had to be something that represented my three loves--fashion, travel, and business. I frequently search for content online, and I am sensitive to a lack of information for women in my age group. When I did not find much content for women forty and over, it was clear to me that advertisers either target their ads to millennials or seniors. For instance, most TV commercials show women between the ages of 40 and 55 who look like soccer moms. And although there is nothing wrong with being a soccer mom, not every woman is a soccer mom. Women are not one size fits all. We have varied interests and are differentially impacted by gender, class, ethnicity, and more. When COVID-19 hit I closed my insurance office, and my staff and I started working from home.

In three weeks, I filed the trademark, hired a publicist and a social media manager, and all the dots started connecting. Hey Lady™ was officially launched. A lifestyle brand curated for the woman who has a passion for fashion, a love of travel, and an interest in owning or growing a business. I believe every day that we are alive is a special occasion. I’m on a mission to inspire other women to live their best lives. Hey Lady™ is more than just a lifestyle brand. It’s a movement because being a lady never goes out of style! Q. How has your experience been being on “RHOA" what has been some advantages and disadvantages of being on the show? A. This was so long ago... It’s amazing how something I did years ago is still being talked about today. Just the other day on Twitter there was a petition being passed around to have me back on the show. Vashawn Mitchell

“ I do a lot of reading (more than listening to music) I allow God to speak to me about everything and from there songs are born.”

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. My name is VaShawn Mitchell and for more than 20 years, I have had the privilege to minister as an artist and producer in the Gospel Music Industry Q. What motivated you to become a music artist? A. I always knew I wanted to allow God to use my gifts and talents to create something that would impact lives around the world. For a season that assignment was lived out in my local church. Then God placed in me the desire to spread His message beyond the four walls of my local church and my journey as an artist began. Q. Out of all the songs you have which one would you consider your favorite? A. That is a difficult question especially having made as much music as I have over my career. I would have to say “Now Be Restored”. It is a reminder to me that even when we have to go through difficult situations – God will never leave us destitute. He never allows suffering for no reason. We will always come out as victorious.

Christmas evoked feelings of pain and isolation. I wanted to create a body of music that allowed us to see this time as one of celebration – even though different what had been our tradition. I wanted to inspire us to take back our holiday and make it about worship – especially now that a lot of the other distractions had been stripped away. Q. How would you describe the music that you typically create? A. I make gospel music typically. More importantly I create music that is meant to inspire and encourage listeners. Q. Who are some people that have been a big inspiration in your life? A. I have been blessed to be mentored many of the great voices in our genre. BeBe Winans and Donald Lawrence stand out as two who have encouraged, counseled, rebuked, guided and celebrated with me over the years. Q. Can you tell us one of your most memorable experiences you have had in the music industry? A. I love traveling overseas. I would say recording in South Africa remains one of my most memorable experiences. It challenged my faith more than any other project, but also allowed me to see God show Himself faithful in ways I could never imagine. Q. What is something you would like to change in the music world?

Q. Tell us about “Home for Christmas” and the motivation behind it? A. This pandemic redefined the concept of “home” for our world. In 2020 it became our school, office, hospital, church, gym you name it. For many the idea of being Home for

A. I believe we need to move back to a place of increased regard our genre. This is an assignment given to us by God. We need to steward (not manage) our message in a way that draws not alienates. Our acceptance has to come from a definition of success that goes beyond the constructs of “industry”. The industry is important,

necessary and vital – but should not be our only standard. Q. What is your creative process like behind the scenes? A. Most of my music is created when I be listening to the questions of the earth and the answers of heaven. I do a lot of reading (more than listening to music) I allow God to speak to me about everything and from there songs are born. Q. Are there any projects or events you are working on for 2021? A. Yes. Again God has been speaking and I am writing what He is saying to be released during this time. Each season requires a different message and what he is sharing now I believe will help the listeners continue to believe God with a complete assurance that He will lead and guide us through life’s transitions. “ Being the executive producer came with many challenging responsibilities. It was up to me to bring the deal to the ladies during a time when I was producing the first ever HipHop Residency featuring Salt & Pepa and other 90’s acts. ”

Jimmy Maynes

Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I am an entertainment professional with a focus on A&R, stage and visual production, marketing, film and television. Q. Can you give us a little testimony on your journey on how you got to where you are now? A. I started as an assistant to R&B 90’s start Al B. Sure, went with him on his first tour doing everything from buying his socks to handing him towels on the side of the stage – moved quickly from his assistant to Promotional Coordinator at UPTOWN Records which did not work out for me. I was moved into a newly created position of Video Commissioner where I managed the visual images for Mary J. Blige, Heavy D, Guy, Father MC and many others. Q. I watched the Salt & Pepa show which was amazing but how was your experience being the executive producer of the show? A. Being the executive producer came with many challenging responsibilities. It was up to me to bring the deal to the ladies during a time when I was producing the first ever Hip-Hop Residency featuring Salt & Pepa and other 90’s acts. At the same time that I was negotiating our movie we were also working on a new tour and 2 reality shows... The timing for the negotiations of the movie could not have come at a more challenging time, but when the ladies decided that they wanted me to manage them I asked them to give me a list of things they wanted me to focus on and deliver... A solid reality show was one

of them, a strong headlining tour, a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, another Grammy and to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. I did not get to accomplish the later, but every other promise I made to the ladies was accomplished. Q. You have been on a couple episodes of “Growing Up Hip Hop” and “Ladies Night” how was your experience and what did you enjoy about being on these shows? A. I am not really a reality star sort of guy – I don’t know that I have enough “drama” in my life. I am also one not to really like using one’s problems for the sake of views. Honestly, I would love to see a reality show about REAL MUSIC EXECUTIVES and what we REALLY deal with on a day-to-day basis... Now, if you wanted REAL truth, the HIGHS and the LOWS, I would love to be part of something like that... Not saying the show’s you mentioned are not that, but... Q. What do you do in your spare time? A. I absolutely love to spend time with my 3 sons, we travel the world together, we love everything water – we boat, we fish, we swim... We cook together. Like I said, I am a really simple guy and do really simple boring things... I keep the noise for work. Q. When you are looking for artist what are some of the qualities you look for in them? A. If all the cows on the farm are brown, I look for the cow that’s purple... It’s really just that simple for me... I look for the “difference”. My experience is that the DIFFERENCE is what separates artist from SUPER STARS!!!! Now I will say that without “artist”, we would not have SUPERSTARS... You need them to distinguish the difference... IE: If every day was a sunny day, how would we know what a sunny day actually looked like. Q. Can you tell us what has been the most interesting building you’ve ever seen or been in? A. I love love love the Capitol Records Building in LA – there is a great sound studio on the first floor, but the stories that are told by the legacy of the building as you get on the elevators, look at the walls and just the mere fact of the outer design is one of my favs... I would love to

work for Capitol one day just to be able to work in that building... (As the HEAD OF MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT – LOL) Q. Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years? A. My brother Joe and I have a label that we are building together... In 3 years I hope to be interviewed again by you but you will be asking me “How did we develop the amounts of Podcasts, deliver 5 Pop Stars in the top 10, and congratulations on your Grammy Performance and can we get tickets to your new tour – Only you will be doing this interview on my boat!!! Q. If you can change anything in the music industry what would it be? A. Music would not be free. Q. What do you think is missing in today’s music? A. What’s missing in music is that it requires no commitment from the fan to establish what a real hit is... It’s all about your social numbers which don’t require anything but a “like”, a “follow”. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. They can follow me @jimmymaynes on everything. WIB Magazine

While we love the flavor business, we knew we would get back in the branded space eventually. In 2018, the idea behind Altwell was born with our first products launched early 2020. is not only safe, but also that it’s meeting the label claim. The varying experience may be attributed to a product not actually having the quantity of CBD on the package that it states. From a dosage perspective, we suggest you start low and go slow. We aren’t all created the same and it’s important to find what is going to work for you. Q. This is a new year what are some of your goals for 2021? A. I am the mother to four. I am committed to raising happy, well-adjusted and aware kids.
