MA KO G I R LS Q. Tell us about the Mako Girls? How did you ladies come up with the name? A. MAKO Girls is a sister trio with a west Indian background that sing, dance, and rap. We are based in Atlanta making Hip-Hop and Pop music. The name was original thought of by our mother and we came up with a meaning behind it, which is M for Mimi, A for A-Ni, K for Kena, and our last name Ochoa.

Q. What or Who inspired you ladies? A. We are inspired by many artists that came before us. In the beginning our main inspiration was the boy band Mindless Behavior and the legendary girl group TLC. We still look up to those people but now we take a lot more inspiration from people like Billie Eilish, Beyonce, and Chloe and Halle because of their strong fan base as well as their work ethic. The last thing that really motivates us is our family and the people that has been there since day 1.
Q. What are some things you’ll do when you have spare time? A. The three of us have very different interest. For A-Ni, on her spare time she plays video games and spend time with our family and pets. Mimi likes to watch YouTube videos talk to friends on the phone, and sing. And finally, for Kena, she like to watch anime also talk to friends and go out.
