APTA
UFILMS
Here at Stockton Riverside College, we’ve always had a hugely successful Performing and Creative Arts department and last year, we launched a new Academy of Performing and Technical Arts (APTA). In the UK, the creative industries are worth more than £130 billion to the UK economy and covers 9.6% of UK jobs. Closer to home, the arts are a pretty big deal too. In the Tees Valley alone, it’s predicted that there will be 14,000 creative jobs by 2024 and whilst things were put on hold due to COVID-19, make no mistake, this area will bounce back with a vengeance. Recently, the Government has pledged £1.5 billion to protect the UK creative sector – we really are a world-class super power when it comes to the arts. APTA was launched to ensure that talented young people like you are well equipped to be part of this vibrant sector whether it’s in fashion, graphic design, TV and film or games design; an APTA course will provide you with the best possible start to your creative career and enable you to go out and be at the cutting edge of this sector.
Did you know that our Creative Media Industries students run their own filming and production company? UFilms started a couple of years back and every year, the baton gets handed down to the next lot of students meaning you’ll get to work for an established production company on both internal and external projects. To watch some of UFilms fantastic work, visit their YouTube channel www.youtube.com/channel/ UCw-Ly11oIkcyp-7QG6g7SmA or go to page 50.
