WHAT’S NEXT?
If you’re looking to get into the world of joinery, this level 1 course will provide you with the basic hand skills and tool development you need to carve out a career in the trade. You will learn how to cut, shape, trim, fix and finish a range of materials, as well as basic wood jointing techniques.
DIPLOMA IN SITE JOINERY
LEVEL 1 - 1 YEAR
YOU NEED: A keen interest in joinery, plus four GCSEs graded between 9-1/A*-G would be desirable.
WHAT’S NEXT? Move on to the Diploma in Site Joinery Diploma Level 2 or apply for apprenticeship opportunities with enhanced joinery skills.
DIPLOMA IN SITE JOINERY LEVEL 2 - 1 YEAR
WHAT WILL I DO? You will learn how to hang doors, erect timber frames and fit door moulding and skirting. You will also develop maintenance skills, communication and safe working practice while undertaking a work placement.
Site Joinery Diploma Level 1 or four GCSEs grade 9-1/A*-G would be desirable.
Move on to the Diploma in Site Joinery Level 3 or apply for apprenticeship opportunities.
LEVEL 3 - 1 YEAR
WHAT WILL I DO? Building on the skills developed at level 2 you will continue to learn more about advanced joinery techniques and develop the theoretical knowledge to back up those skills. Lessons are made up of both practical and theory sessions and will include lectures, presentations and demonstrations.
YOU NEED: Diploma in Site Joinery Level 2.
WHAT’S NEXT? Move on to work in the trades either at home or abroad, you could take on an apprenticeship, or go on to further study or training with future careers including site management, shop-fitting, joinery foreman or construction management.
