Information Technology & Systems I always look forward to seeing and highlighting the quality products that students within the different areas of our department have been able to achieve throughout the year. This has been made possible by our dedicated staff being able to write curriculum which challenges students to achieve their best in a diverse number of subjects ranging from information technology, programming, automotive, robotics, electronics, CAD, digital stills and systems engineering. We, as a Faculty, proudly congratulate our students for their excellent efforts and achievements this year. - George Tomadin, ICT /Systems Coordinator Lachlan Duff- Year 10 Computer Aided Design

SYSTEMS / AUTOMOTIVE

Students in this course are taught the workings of various automobile components as well as 4-stroke and 2-stroke motors.Year 8 students also attend “drive days” at Motorkhana where they receive professional tutoring on how to safely drive a motor vehicle.

SYSTEMS / ENGINEERING

As always, the variety of work from the unit three/four students in Systems Engineering is outstanding. This year the work ranges from a 3D printed hand that is controlled via stress sensors worn by a person who is completely detached from the hand, to a replica of K9 the famous robotic dog from the Dr. Who TV series. As well as these two outstanding pieces there is a beautifully crafted radio controlled yacht along with sun tracking solar panels and a wind generator and even an electric “skid bike” In the lower levels the unit one/two students have been working on their “PICAXE” autonomous robots, learning how write basic computer programs that can use sensors signals to allow their robots to manoeuvre around a room. Junior classes have been busily learning the role of electronics and mechanical systems in everyday machines and items that make our lives so much easier. - Michael Davies, Systems Engineering Game design is great if you enjoy working in a team. - Max Richards, 9D

Pot plant moisture tester

I like Year 11 ICT because the subject gives me skills that I can use in the future. - Lydia Brown, Clonard

The pot plant moisture tester (above) is made using Mr Jansen has taught us how to effectively use Photoshop CS6 to enhance our knowledge of photography. a printed circuit board, similar to the one above, that students manufacture using an etching process. - Mitchell Stephens, 10E
