Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell everyone who you are and what you do. RH: Well, I am Raheem Holt from Pulaski, Tennessee. It’s a very small town where we have about 3 red lights and before you know it, you’ll be in another city. I am a multitalented man, but I’ll say I’m a comedian first, then an actor, host, writer and currently working towards being a producer as I do a little part-time work behind the scenes. Q. What made you want to be a comedian? RH: As a child, I always made funny videos that would make everyone laugh. I would get so excited to make my family and friends laugh through the stories I told and just being myself. It wasn’t until later that I found out it was an actual gift of mine and there was a name for it. Looking back on the videos I made, I realized I had been a comedian the entire time. Q. How has the experience been being on “TKO” and “Pickler & Ben? RH: Pickler & Ben was more than an amazing experience. My journey with them started as an audience member where they gave a particular set of instructions that we all would follow. I was interested in becoming the audience warmup. Audience warmup is the person who gets the crowd hype and active before the show starts. I would go around and ask them what it took to have that role. I told them I wrote jokes and was a comedian and after a little time they decided to try me out and it was an amazing experience. I had a lot of fun and it was definitely an added lesson in growth. “People only know what you tell them, so I spoke my goals into existence by telling them what I do and what I wanted.”
The TKO experience and working with Kevin Hart was life changing. Before TKO, I worked with Kevin Hart on his Irresponsible tour as a stand in comedian. This opportunity was altering because that was my first time working with a big network like CBS. The audition process was intense. In order to get on the show, you had to send in several videos showing strength, running, jumping over fences, etc. Basically, things to show just how in shape you were. I was competing against over 1000 other submissions, so to be one of the contestants chosen was great for me. To have done it all myself without a manager or agent, also, gave me an extra boost in confidence and in character. I mean I thought I was going against other comedians but most of the other contestants were people whose professions were in sports and fitness. Even a professional bull rider entered. Q. Who are some of your comedian idols? RH: Well, of course, there is Kevin
Hart. I’m always told we have some of the same energy and if it isn’t that then anybody would say Kevin Hart because I’m short and black [laughs]. Dave Chapelle: he’s vocal about issues and has a sense of urgency without care. He has lived his career being as authentic as possible and pushed the tone for being a comedian and activist. Bernie Mac for his authenticity. Of course, Eddie Murphy is what we all consider the goat. Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence because of their versatility. They created many characters and ranges in their careers. More so Jamie in his acting dynamics and crazy range. Q. What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve had to go through in your career? RH: I’d say the lack of finances and a lack of trust. When you go into this type of business, you never know how much you need to invest in yourself and all the things that come along with it such promotion, advertisement, educations, mentorship etc. Sometimes you have to keep investing until you make a return on your investment; in this case that return would be exposure that turns into cashflow. I say trust because you always have to question if the people around you or that come around you are there because of you or want something from you. It can be hard at times to know who’s going to take and give and having the discernment to know who’s right is extremely important. I also mean the trust between show coordinators, agents, managers and so forth. There is a constant worry on whether you’ll show up to a show with the possibility of being shorted because it was a short night or something else. You never know who you can trust. “The only people that have your best interest at heart are your mama and daddy… and your grandmama”
WHERE IT BEGINS 5
Q. Let’s talk about some of your goals you want to accomplish in the next three years. RH: I’m working towards being an: • Award-winning comedian • Shoot a stand up special • Be in a featured film on Netflix • On tour, on the road doing comedy • An established content creator Q. What advice can you give to others that would like to become a comedian? RH: Ask yourself if being a comedian is for
you. Just because you’re funny doesn’t mean the lifestyle is for you. You have to ask yourself what you are great at because being good is something everybody can do but being great is what separates you from the rest. Lastly, treat it like it’s a real job and not just a hobby. If this something, you do for fun or as a hobby please step to the side so that the serious people can get their turn. Q. Tell us one fun fact about yourself? RH: A fun fact about me is before every performance is I stretch and play videos games. That’s my warmup. I can play video games for 20 hours nonstop and not get tired. Q. Are you working on any projects for 2022? RH: Absolutely! I just finished working on two movies. EscapeCation as a supporting character and Joke Book as a lead character. Follow me on my YouTube channel and all social media platforms for more information and release of these movies. I just signed a partnership with Kontent that will help me produce more content, so please please please subscribe to my YouTube channel @RaheemHolts. Please like, comment, share all the content you see. I am also preparing to go on tour. Staying in physical shape is a constant project I’m working on; I have to stay in shape for what I do. Q. SUGAR BEAR 8 WIB PROMOTING NETWORK
Q. Tell everyone who you are and what you do. A. Hi this is Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliott from the group E.U. famous for the record “Doing the Butt” that’s me “Oooooow!” Q. Let us talk a little bit about your journey and how you got to where you are today. A. It started in high school. Music was my heart; from talent shows, to award shows, performing and collaborating with other artists. I tried boxing and basketball, but my passion was music. I loved playing the bass guitar. My journey has been a blessing. Q. Let us talk about the song since you mentioned it. What was the inspiration behind it, and did you think it would be such a classic? A. I can tell you the story. This was back in 1987. E.U. was a household name and Spike Lee was doing his movie “She Gotta Have It.” And he came to the 930 club in Washington DC and saw us perform and everything led from there. Q. When did JuJu join the band? A. He has been with me for the last 30 years. He came from another band he wanted to join us, and we needed a drummer, so it worked out. Q. Let us talk about the “Mute D.C. Go-Go’ movement. A. It was a movement that came
about because the demographics in D.C has changed and the owners of the community that has recently been established in the location of Howard University area were not used to the GoGo music being played continuously in this area. There was a noise complaint that backfired and caused a movement of protest for the love for Go-Go music in the D.C. area. Q. Out of all the places you have performed what has been your most memorable performance? A. I would say Chicago, I was at funk fest, and we were the headliners. It was an all day show. The concert was free with over 250,000 people in the crowd. The line up was spectacular. Everything was electric. It was amazing. Q. How was it performing on the BET awards? A. It was a dream come true! I did Soul Train and MTV a lot of big platforms so when they called about the show, I was like Yessss! We had to cancel four shows for this, but the promoters understood. We received great love. Q. What can we expect from you the rest of 2022 and what are some of the goals you want to accomplish? A. Personally, I would like to work on unity. I believe music can do that. Unity of all people. I’d like to see all people come together and have fun and party. A family thing, and I am
in the studio now to bring more songs like “Da Butt’ and I cannot wait to bring this album out. Q. What festivals do you have coming up? A. We just did a wine festival with over 5000 people there. We have another coming up at the Wolf Trap in Fairfax VA. I love doing festivals and receiving all the love. Q. How was the experience working with Chuck Brown? A. Well, he was very influential in my life. He gave me a lot of pointers for my career. He told me I needed to play what people want to hear. I studied that and that is why we are here. Q. Well on the personal side a lot of people do not know that you are a teacher, tell us about that. A. Yes, I have been a special education teacher for 26 years til this day. I enjoy it. Watching them reach different milestones in their lives. It is rewarding. I love doing what I do, and it touches me when I hear WHERE IT BEGINS 9
about the violence in schools with teachers and students enduring violence. Q. Can you tell us a little bit about your challenges and hurdles that you had to go through? A. Everything that glitters ain’t gold. People see the big names and lights but know there are a lot of ugly things that go in behind the scenes. Being booted off rosters, soundchecks go right but still not right during the performance. I am a performer, so the things bothered me, but I kept going. It is a very dangerous business and you have to really want it. If your passion is not there, then do not do it. Q. What do you think I missing in music today? A. Love. I really think musicians do not share stories anymore. No one talks about just life and stories. The messages the meaning of music is missing. Everything is not about a party or a gang banger. Q. Where have you always wanted to perform! A. I have been all over the world,
but I have not been to Africa. So, I would like to spread my talents there. I would love it due to the drums in the Afrocentric culture. Q. What is a Gem that you would like to share with your fans? A. Put God first in everything you do and let him guide you. HE will blow your mind with the elevation. Q. What is your music process like now that you are older?
A. I move more towards rock. I am in the Jimi Hendricks experience portion of my life. Q. What was the best advice you were given? A. To be myself. Q. Who is your top 5 entertainers of all times? A. Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Donnie Hathaway Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Minnie Riperton. Q. Who would you like to perform with? A. They are both deceased, but it would be Michael Jackson and Prince. Q. If you could trade places with one person for one day, who would it be and why? A. The president of the United States. I would make an executive order for gun control due to all the senseless killings. Q. If you could give your younger self any advice, what would it be? A. Do it better. Surround myself with experienced people in every department that shares the vision of the...... big picture. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. Follow Instagram: @DARealSugarbear Facebook: @EUSugarbear and @darealsugarbear on twitter.

KENDRA
BULLUCK WHERE IT BEGINS 15
A. I truly believe the Orange Blossom Classic is more than just a football game. It is an opportunity to impact the community and showcase the greatness of the culture of HBCU’s. For that reason, I hope to have yearround community events highlighting HBCU’s leading up to the game and also expand the game into other markets (outside of South Florida) with other opponents.
Q. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I am Kendra Bulluck-Major. I serve as the Executive Director of the Denny’s Orange Blossom Classic. Q. Let’s talk a little about your journey and how you got to where you are today. A. I’ve been in business for myself since 1999. While in college, the opportunity arose to purchase the company that I was working for at the time. That began my entrepreneurial journey. After purchasing that business, I expanded into different business acquisition projects. I began exploring the idea of reviving the Orange Blossom Classic in 2011. My son who is very active in football, and my father who loved the Marching 100 sparked my interest in the historical relevance of the game. I began the incorporation process, researching acquiring the rights and trademarking the name, assembling the steering committee, etc. It was a lengthy process but in 2019 we were able to announce that after 42 years, the game once considered the Black National Championship was returning to South Florida. Q. Where do you see your company in the next three years?
16 WIB PROMOTING NETWORK
Q. Tell us more about the “Orange Blossom Classic” and the motivation behind it? A. The Orange Blossom Classic was considered the Black National Championship from 1933-1978. It was played during a period of racial segregation when the only options African-Americans had for higher education was Historically Black Universities. When segregation ended, the game fizzled out as football talent was accepted at all Universities. The revival of the Orange Blossom Classic was a way to honor the tradition and history of the original game, while giving today’s youth of South Florida a chance to see HBCU football in their backyard. When we began this journey in 2011, the one HBCU in Miami (Florida Memorial University) didn’t have a football program. There was no representation of an HBCU football classic for our youth to experience, without traveling to Orlando. It was important for me that they had this representation closer to home. We paused in 2020 due to Covid and in 2021 and 2022, the matchup features Florida A & M University and Jackson State University, played Labor Day weekend in Miami, FL. Q. How do you encourage our young female leaders? A. In order to encourage young female leaders, I believe in being relatable. It’s important to be transparent. When you have reached some level of success, the perception is that you didn’t struggle or that you don’t still struggle. Most people see you on your “good days.” I encourage young leaders by acknowledging the failures and the bad days but using that as a reminder that if I went through it and I found some level of success, then they can too.
Q. Who has been your biggest influencer in your life as a woman? A. My mom. My mother was an entrepreneur for a while, she is now a retired educator. She holds multiple degrees and as recently as this year, at the age of 67 years-old, she obtained her Doctorate degree. The early part of my life, she was a single mother, who found the time to be present for her daughters, while accomplishing all those things. Later, she married and continued to do the same thing while taking care of a larger family. Q. Do women in your profession have a hard time getting promoted? A. Absolutely, in this profession and many others. This year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Title IX, which was meant to level the playing field for women in sports, but we still have a long way to go. This month, we witnessed the confirmation of the first African-American female supreme court justice, and the first AfricanAmerican female President of an NFL team. In 2022, we are still having to make a big deal about so many “Firsts” because these opportunities for women have not been common. Q. What is one fun fact about yourself? A. I love hip-hop. My kids find it embarrassing when I get excited about ‘Da Baby and Roddy Ricch. I often relate hip-hop to what I am dealing with in life. Right now, this being my busiest time of the year, my “theme song” on constant repeat is Rick Ross’ Hustlin’. Q. Are there any additional events or upcoming projects you are working on? A. I’m focused on making the sophomore year of the Orange Blossom Classic successful and establishing it among one of the most talked about classics with the other well- established classics. The goal is to continue to expand on that the next few years. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. IG: @kbulluckmajor, @ orangeblossomfc Twitter: @ orangeblossomfc.

Q. Tell everyone who you are and what you do? A. I am Mildred Muhammad a MultiAward-Winning Global Keynote Speaker, International Expert Speaker for the US Dept. of State, Certified Consultant with the US Dept. of Justice/Office for Victims of Crime, CNN Contributor, BNC Contributor, Domestic Abuse Survivor, Certified Domestic Violence Advocate, Advisory Board Member & Public Speaking Instructor for The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Advocacy Network’s Advisor, Best-Selling Author, Former Internet TV Talk Show Host, Trainer & Educator, Certified Professional/ Personal Development Consultant and 2022 Who’s Who in America Inductee for the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. I share my story on a global platform as the ex-wife of the DC Sniper to discuss my life of terror, abuse, and heartbreak, all while promoting Domestic Abuse/ Violence Awareness and Prevention. Q. Let’s talk about your journey and how you got to where you are today? A. I share the intimate details of my encounters with fear, abuse, and frequent victim-blaming. My experience has strengthened and expanded the scope of my mission. Simply put, I was a victim, who became a survivor, and I’m now a crusader against domestic violence and abuse. At various conferences, seminars, and workshops, globally, I share my story to a wide range of audiences, including victims and survivors of domestic violence, advocates, law enforcement professionals, therapists, counselors,
mental and medical health providers, university and college students, and military personnel, about what it’s like to be a victim and survivor of domestic violence ‘without physical scars.’ After counseling myself and my children on how to survive victimblaming in the face of adversity, I turned my tragic circumstances into an opportunity to establish ground on all forms of Domestic Violence that are often overlooked, such as verbal, mental, economic, spiritual, stalking, and emotional abuse, I have made it my mission to not only speak about the specifics and realities of domestic abuse/violence, but also to be a vessel of support and healing for all those affected. I’ve discussed the dangers of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that soldiers face after returning from a war zone, as well as victims who have been diagnosed with PTSD. I am acknowledged and honored for putting my expertise and experience to good use by supporting the Family Advocacy Program and its goal of educating, promoting, and putting a stop to domestic abuse in military communities. Q. How has your experience been being an international expert speaker? A. My experience as an international speaker has been extremely rewarding. This position has given me the opportunity to reach out to more people in order to raise awareness about domestic abuse. Many people are aware of the violence, but few truly understand that the first signs of domestic violence are psychological in nature. Q. Being the ex-wife of the DC Sniper, what programs or resources helped you move on in your life? A. Although I would like to mention organizations or agencies that assisted me during that time, I’m sad to say I did not receive assistance. This was a high-profile
case. My children and I were not acknowledged as victims. No one wanted to hear about the abuse, custodial interference (taking our children out of the country without my consent), hiding and running for my life. My children and I were not included when resources were given to those affected. We were cast aside. I decided to apply for cash assistance and food stamps from Social Services. During the interview I was told the only way I’d receive those benefits was to give them John’s address so that they could inform him that I was applying. I informed them that he is the DC Sniper, and I was his intended target according to law enforcement, and that my address was private. They said, “I’m sorry to hear that, however, he has to be notified of your application for benefits.” I stood up, retrieved my paperwork and told them “Keep your benefits. My life is more valuable than food stamps and cash.” I walked away. Q. What challenges did you have to face being a domestic abuse survivor? A. The challenges I faced as a victim/ survivor are the same one’s others experience today. No one believed me, resources are not available, access to resources. My challenges were unique in the fact that innocent people were killed. Law enforcement stated I was the intended target. The prosecutors’ theory was John and Lee were killing innocent people to cover up my murder so John would come in as the grieving father and gain custody of our children. When the community was informed of this, the victim blaming began. They said, “if I would have stayed with him, then he would have just killed me. Had I stayed on the West Coast, then the people on the East Coast would still be alive. How dare I call me and my children victims, when none of us were hurt or killed, and how dare I bring this drama into this quiet community.” Q. Let’s talk about your books and the motivation behind them. A. After sharing my story at different organizations, I was inspired to write my story so that it would reach more people.

My first memoir Scared Silent… When the one you love becomes the one you fear, was released in 2009. My second and final memoir, I’m Still Standing…Crawling out of the darkness into the light, was released in 2017. My other books were published to assist victims/survivors of domestic violence. A Survivor’s Journal: A Journey from Victim to Survivor and Dare to Heal: Journaling The Pain Away, as well as Planning My Escape (a comprehensive stepby-step safety plan) specifically for victims and survivors to help with the emotions that others may not understand and strategically leaving an abusive relationship, are among other published books that will assist victims and survivors of domestic violence. Q. What is one of your most memorable accomplishments or awards you’ve received in your career? A. My accomplishments and awards are all memorable. Each one reminds me of the awareness I helped nonprofit organizations, federal agencies, military communities, and corporations bring to their communities, for which I am eternally grateful. Q. What advice can you give to other women who are going through domestic abuse? A. There are a few recommendations I would advise for those experiencing domestic abuse and violence. They are: 1. DON’T INFORM YOUR ABUSER OF YOUR PLANS TO LEAVE. 2. Stop re-acting and start taking action to secure your safety. You know your abuser better than anyone. Rely on your knowledge and make use of it. You won’t go astray if you trust your intuition, spirit, or inner understanding. Ask for direction, resources, and people to support you from whomever you pray to. You should complete a safety plan, which will aid in determining when to depart. On my website, there is a detailed safety plan. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT ANNOUNCE YOUR PLANS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. All of your abusers’ followers may not be known to you. Some people might pretend to be your friends on fake profiles in order to follow you and inform your abuser. Only YOU will be able to tell when that time has come to leave. Don’t be scared. Seek assistance from your local state domestic violence coalition. They can provide you with information on other organizations that can help you. Also contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline (800-799-7233) or www. domesticshelters.org. They are available 24/7 to assist you.
NEVER forget that you are NOT to blame for the abuse. It’s never too late to defend your rights. Be wise, strategic, and cautious, though. When you do decide to go, only notify one friend you can trust. Your element of surprise will be compromised if you go above that limit. Choose the appropriate moment to leave, preferably while the abuser is not home, and do it silently. For the bystanders: If you know of someone who is a victim of domestic abuse and violence, and you desire to assist; I do not advocate for anyone to put themselves in harm’s way trying to help your friend, colleague or family member. Before approaching, have your boundaries in place. Ask yourself, what can you do, what you will do and what you won’t do. If you have a significant other, talk to your partner to discuss ways you can help. Once you and/or your partner have come to a resolution, take that person to lunch not dinner. After your surface conversation, ask this question. “How can I help you?” They may be confused as to why you are asking this question because no one asks a victim how can I help. Once the victim/survivor gives you their request, be honest in your response. Q. Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events? A. I am currently working on an anthology titled: In The Midst of Chaos. The first of a series to be released in October 2022. This book includes extraordinary stories of others, from around the world, sharing their experiences of trauma, truth, and resilience. For my next two books, I’m looking for more co-authors. Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. The most effective approach to follow me is to go to my website, select the social media buttons, and do so. To have you as a follower would be an honor! Thank you for the opportunity to address your community.

DJ MOZA
24 WIB PROMOTING NETWORK
Q. Tell everyone who you are and what you do. A. My name is Arteen Mozafari and my artist name is “DJ MOZA”. I am a Canadian DJ and Record Producer from Vancouver, British Columbia. Q. What made you want to pursue a career as a DJ? A. I first got inspired to pursue music when I was 8 years old. I was in Iran for about a year, and I was so happy to finally meet my whole family. My cousin Soheil and my uncle Behrooz introduced me to Hip Hop and Electronic music, incorporating break dancing in both art forms. My cousin Soheil gave me a “home-made CD” featuring Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent. Once I got back to Canada all I would do was listen to the same 10-15 songs on repeat. At this point, I knew I was going to work in something music related when I got older. Q. Who would you consider to be a DJ Legend? A. I consider YEHME2 to be a “DJ Legend”. I have had the blessing of being on stage with Mr. Young and honestly the way he pumps up the crowd, his music production, and music selection is what makes him a “DJ Legend”.
Q. If you could go anywhere in the world and perform, where would it be? A. Tehran, Iran. I hope that one day the government of Iran will change their policies in regards to parties. I believe there “should not be any compulsion in faith” and Iran’s current policies does not reflect that. Until then, my beautiful Iranian people will have to come see me DJ in Istanbul, Türkiye. Q. Where do you see yourself in the next three years? A. In the next three years, I see myself even more healthy, grateful and beautiful. (Yes, I am beautiful). Q. Can you tell us what has been one of your most memorable moments being a DJ? A. I think my career has been full of very unique highlights and I am grateful for every amazing moment in this beautiful journey. I had the honor of touring with Yasiin Bey, FKA, and Mos Def for over half a decade. I also had the opportunity to be a part of the Black Star reunion tour. It was truly a majestic moment to behold.
upcoming projects you are working on? A. I’ve been producing a lot of electronic music, specifically house music. I have about 3 albums worth of unreleased music. I have some amazing singers, rappers and coproducers on these records! I can’t wait to share my music with the world, stay tuned! Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. Q. Can you tell us what differentiate you from the rest of the DJ’s? A. I don’t really see myself as different from other DJs. I think there is a beauty in being similar to others. We may each have our own fingerprint, but we are all human at the end of the day. I hope that my fans enjoy my unique style and I continue to see people smile and dance when I DJ. Q. What are some of the challenges you’ve had being a DJ? A. A major challenge for any DJ is to never stop believing in yourself. You have to keep going, no matter what. As DJs we love music, we love to see people happy and dancing. As long as we put our passion first, everything else will fall into place with consistent effort.

PATTERSON 26 WIB PROMOTING NETWORK
Q. Thanks for interviewing with us, tell everyone who you are and what you do. A. Thank you for interviewing me. I truly appreciate it. My name is Darrell Patterson. I am a serial entrepreneur and world-renowned fitness enthusiast. Q. What or who motivated you to be the man you are today? A. Nothing necessarily motivated me. Motivation is a temporary feeling that comes and goes! I simply want to be better each and every day! I can say that my parents instilled DRIVE in me at a young age. And that has carried over into my daily movements and my approach to how I handle my career and life. Q. What made you want to pursue a career in fitness? A. About nine years ago, I lost my corporate job and I had to figure out a plan with my son on the way. I’ve always loved fitness; and I decided to make it a career. I started out spending my entire day at the gym from open to close looking for clients and asking people if they needed a trainer. I finally got my first client at $30 per week. The rest, as they say, is history. I literally walked into my purpose out of necessity. Q. Let’s talk about “Heat Xtreme” and the motivation behind it? A. HeatXtreme is a fitness lifestyle and supplement brand. Our core mission is to bring health, wellness, and fitness into the homes of people all over the world. We want to provide effective programs that any person, anywhere at any time can utilize to help them stay engaged on their fitness journey. I’ve had to dig deep to find ways to improve the virtual training programs provided through my HeatXtreme platform. It has been important to me to map out an easy-to-follow blueprint of multiple affordable options which include gym and home workouts and meal planning. Being creative and innovative has been at an all-time high for me as I look for new ways to inspire people and help motivate them to want to continue to work out while having fun doing so. All
of these components have led to a well-rounded and easily accessible fitness program. That’s what keeps people interested and longtime HeatXtremers. Q. Tell us more about the challenges and programs you offer? A. The HEAT Challenge is a 30-day online transformation program. The challenge offers home/gym/ dumbbell/body weight workouts, meal plan, various meal plan structures (e.g., IF, keto, carb cycling), accountability calls, support group, nutrition coaching and information, recipes, tips on how to cook your food. It offers everything you need to be successful on your fitness journey. You name it; we provide it! At the end of each 30-day round, 5 people are awarded $2,500 each. I also have the 14 Day Abs and Ass Challenge. With this program, I provide live workouts via Zoom. We focus on core and glute work. Q. Can you give 3 tips on staying healthy and fit? A. First off, do what is fun! Make it fun for you; so, the next things I mention don’t feel like a chore. Let’s face it. No one likes chores. The major keys are commitment, consistency, and discipline. Those three attributes should always kick in whenever motivation and desire are lacking.
Here is where your mindset comes in. It will be the driving force that pushes you over the hump so to speak. If you make a choice, which starts in the mind, to remain committed and disciplined to being consistent, you will keep that agreement with yourself. This, in turn, leads to an overall better you. Q. What has been your biggest challenge you’ve had in your career? A. I face challenges every day in my career. The fight to be #1 is a daily challenge because people fail to succeed when they fail to adapt and change. I’m constantly having to revisit the game plan and strategy! I must constantly evolve myself and my business to not keep up with the curve but stay ahead of it. Q. Tell us one fun fact about yourself? A. I am truly a big kid at heart. My son and my daughter definitely bring that part out of me even more. Q. Are you working on any projects or upcoming events? A. I’m always working on new things, but you have to stay tuned!!! Q. Where can the readers follow you? A. They can follow me on all social media platforms under @ iamtherealdp, @heatchallenge, @ heatxtreme, @heatperformance, and @the14dayabsandasschallenge. Who or what motivated you to be the woman you are today? A. I am motivated by changing the way the world views disability. I am passionate about creating a world where equity exists. I want to see more representation of disabled people in the music industry, for too long the music industry has underrepresented the incredible music that is out there from disabled artists. My hope is that the world begins to change so that disabled people feel included. Q. Let’s talk about your book
incredible people and formed a community I am proud of being part of. It’s given me confidence in speaking my mind. It’s also just given me a sense of purpose and a whole heap of joy! Q. How do you define your purpose? A. My purpose is to share my own story so that others feel like they can share theirs. I also feel my purpose is to speak of my own experiences so that we can begin to eliminate the many barriers that disabled people face. and the motivation behind it. A. When I was pregnant five years ago, I felt unrepresented. In all the stacks of parenting books I was given, there were no mums like me. In fact, there were no disabled parents at all. I wanted to feel represented and know what it was going to be like to be a disabled parent. ‘We’ve Got This’ is a book which aims at changing this, by sharing the stories of disabled parents in a way that could accurately represent their lives and didn’t over sensationalise their stories. I wanted to change some of the misconceptions that people have about parenting with a disability. There are still a lot of barriers, and most come within the wider society. I believe there is still a societal view that parents with disabilities can’t look after children. This is especially the case for parents with intellectual disabilities. I wanted to show that parents with disabilities are successfully parenting, in fact we’re actually thriving. Q. What is it about your music that makes you feel passionate? A. Where do I start? It’s given me a vehicle to express hard feelings and emotions. It’s given me a way to share what I am thinking and feeling and given me a platform to advocate for disabled people. I have met

"When someone tells me they can relate to my song and it gave them a different perspective, or made them feel like they weren't alone, that's what really makes me feel accomplished." 44 WIB PROMOTING NETWORK
Q. How would you define the music you create? A. I would describe my music as real Hip Hop. I’m from New York and I grew up in the 90s and the 2000s. I feel like, at that time, we had a lot lyricism. The people coming out then had a good time, but they were also still actual artists. Some would call what I do conscious hip hop but I just consider myself a hip hop artist.
Q. Thanks for interviewing with us. Tell us who you are and what you do. A. First, thank you for having me. Who I am is a complicated question, but I’m an entrepreneur, a musician and an audio engineer amongst other things. Q. Who motivated you to want to pursue a career in the music industry? A. Whew. Who motivated me to start making music is another complicated question. Honestly, I would have to say Tupac. He just spoke to my soul and because of my love for poetry. I understood him on a different levels. If you’re talking about who helped me develop, I also have to give it up to J. Cole because he is who pushed me to really be my best self and continuously challenge myself and my flow.
Q. Let’s talk about your new single and the motivation behind it. A. My new single is a song called “Change Up.” The motivation behind it was how, in life, you grow and sometimes when you grow that also means separating yourself from others. In the song, it says “last thing I’ll ever do is change up on you,” which to me means “acting funny.” Sometimes, when you push yourself and elevate your circumstances, people will say you’re acting funny because you don’t move the way you used to move. This song says that even though I grow because, in essence, things never really stay the same, I’m still the same man I was. I’ve always been the person who wanted better and now that I am growing and getting better, don’t expect me to go backwards but don’t expect me to forget where I came from. Q. Who is some musical artists that you would like to collaborate with? A. Definitely J. Cole, but for sure artists like Siya, Kehlani, Missy Elliot, Ella Mai, NF and that’s just a few. There’s so many gifted and down to earth artists out there. Q. If you could perform anywhere, where would it be? A. I’m not going to lie, if I had to pick anywhere to perform, it would probably be somewhere tropical, but that heat with that, idk. I would have to say performing in the UK would be nice, because I feel like they have a different love for Hip Hop music. Q. What has been your greatest accomplishment you’ve received in your career? A. When someone tells me they can relate to my song and it gave them a different perspective, or made them feel like they weren’t alone, that’s what really makes me feel
accomplished. As an artist, that is all that I can ask for if my music actually helps and changes lives. Q. Can you tell us where you see yourself in the next three years? A. In the next three years, I see myself on tour, having my own label, helping other artists with genuine talent develop their voices. I want to be doing motivational speaking, expanding my businesses, continuing to develop as an artist, and hopefully be a father by then, but I see myself doing great things. Q. Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events? A. Currently, I am working on a mixtape and an EP. The mixtape will be my sophomore mixtape and I’d like to call it “C.I.,” for “Covers Interpreted,” not Criminal Intent or Informant. *laughing* And it will be covering some familiar beats but with my own take, showing my growth and different flows and cadences. My EP is going to show versatility and it’s basically going to show who I am as an artist and just as a person. It’ll be fun and slightly vulnerable. Q. Where can the readers follow you?
