LA ÚLTIMA ESPERANZA THE LAST HOPE “El espíritu de la Ley de Incentivos Tributarios a la Industrialización que favorecía a las provincias del Azuay y Cañar, en 1954, como antecedente, unido a la aplicación de políticas de desarrollo regional dirigido por organismos especializados y descentralizados administrativamente, dieron origen al Centro de Reconversión Económica del Azuay, Cañar y Morona Santiago (CREA) que se establece en 1958”.
“As an antecedent, the spirit of the Law of Tax Incentives for Industrialization, which favored the provinces of Azuay and Cañar in 1954, plus the application of regional development policies that were directed by administratively specialized and decentralized bodies, led to the creation of the Center for Economic Restructuring of Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago (CREA in Spanish) established in 1958.
Así recuerdan los autores Cuesta Heredia y Araneda Alfero el nacimiento de una institución que “a partir de su origen, va a desempeñar un papel muy importante en la reconversión del tradicional quehacer económico de las provincias australes, parte del cual beneficiará indudablemente a la industria manufacturera”.
