DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN LEVEL 2 - 1 YEAR
WHAT WILL I DO?
EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN COSTUME AND PRODUCTION DESIGN LEVEL 3 - 2 YEARS
You will carry out a range of projects to develop your skills in drawing and painting, sculpture, textiles and illustration and graphics. You will also visit exhibitions, have a go at location work, see your own work exhibited and complete a work placement.
YOU NEED: An Art & Design Level 1 qualification or equivalent, or four GCSEs grade 3-2/D-E.
WHAT’S NEXT? Move on to the Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design.
WHAT WILL I DO?
This course is ideal for students who would like to design and create costumes, props and set for film, TV and theatre performances. Working collaboratively with other departments you will work to live assignment briefs, which will allow you to gain an understanding of a career backstage in the performing arts industry. Creativity is a must for this course as you’ll need to research, design, sketch and construct, learning how to use a range of media, materials and techniques to create amazing costumes, sets and props.

By exploring different techniques, our art and design courses will help you discover your own creativity. You’ll carry out a range of projects to further develop the skills you gained on the level 2 course. You’ll see your own work exhibited and work to live briefs set by local businesses which will let you see what it’s like to work in the design industry.

WHAT’S NEXT? You could go on to university to study subjects including fine art, textiles or graphic design, or move on to a relevant apprenticeship or employment in areas such as interior design, set design or illustration.
