MOUNTIES CRICKET CLUB Mounties Junior Cricket had a successful 2020-21 season with all of our 5 junior teams making the semi-finals and 2 teams taking out premierships. Our mini’s program (4-8 year olds) was hosted this season for the first time under the Junior Blasters banner and with 14 participants was a great cricket learning initiative for all involved!
Our Under 11 side finished in second position on the ladder and won their semi-final in dominant fashion. They went on to play in their grand-final against first placed Prestons Gold. Prestons has continued to be the benchmark for this age group and once again an excellent cricket battle ensued. The Mounties team put in a fantastic effort, especially with ball in hand, (5 individual wicket takers!) but Prestons Gold’s ability to take more wickets proved to be the defining difference with Mounties falling short by 17 runs. A great game, and super effort by both teams on the day.
around the 30 mark, putting together an excellent total of 199 in the first innings. We then backed up this team effort with the bat with a wonderful display of bowling and catching on the field (8 catches in total!) dismissing the opposition for 76. An outstanding team effort, well done to all.
SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 2020-21 Our Under 12’s and Under 14’s bboth finished in 3rd position on the ladder. Both of these teams put in a gallant effort in their semi-finals but just fell short of victory. Unfortunately, due to the excessively wet conditions in March, no grand finals were able to be played for the older age groups. Our Under 13 and Under 15 sides sides were
