2021 Sub Club Annual Report

MOUNTIES JUNIOR SOCCER In 2021 Mounties Junior Soccer Club had over 500 players. This consisted of 38 teams; 19 Minis teams and 19 competition teams. There were five girls’ and ladies’ teams.

Highlights for the year include all the first-time players, coaches and managers. A number of our Minis teams had the opportunity to take the field during half-time promotions at Western Sydney Wanderers home games. It was the first time for many of the kids being in front of such a large crowd and for many it was a great highlight of their season. We organised two coach training sessions for the new coaches and there were more planned prior to the season interruption due to the pandemic. At the time, we still had two teams in contention for State Cup honours, reaching the quarter finals. We had 7 coaches attend the Group-C licence coach training and we look forward to reaping the benefit of that in future years. Most of the competition teams were in the top four in their respective comps but it was more pleasing to see the level of commitment and player development that was taking place week in and week out on training nights. In 2021, we started working on synergies between Mounties Junior Soccer and Mounties Wanderers Soccer and it will be interesting to see this develop in coming years.

The playing fields were in a poor state but there seems little we can do to get Council to improve its management practices or give us some greater input. Perhaps with the extended rest the fields will have stronger grass development for next season. For many of the competition teams there is a sense of unfinished business, especially for those teams that were leading their comp at the time of season interruption. We had a good level of volunteerism but will be looking for a few more committed helpers in Season 2022. There was always a good vibe on game day down at the park and generally there is a happy atmosphere during the freezing winter training nights as well. As always, we could not have achieved what we did without the unwavering support of the Mounties Club and Sports Team. We look forward to continuing to serve our community through sport in 2022 and beyond!
