MOUNTIES ATHLETICS CLUB This season was no like no other…... When the pandemic hit the world, like everyone else, we were impacted by restrictions which led us to a late start to the athletics season. One which saw tight regulations at competitions which included our Wednesday night social competition having sign in’s, making sure no one had visited a hot spot, and had no symptoms. Making hand sanitizer a priority to keep everyone “safe”.
Beside the grim reality that we were in challenging times, it felt great to be back and see familiar faces that made everyone feel excited to be back. ● The NSW Masters Championships Campbelltown athletics centre 13th -14th of February 2021 • Darren Hughes Gold in all 4 events, 55 – 59 years Men 60m, 100m, 200m & 400m. • Rachael Jackson Silver in both the 40 – 44 years Women 60m and 100m. • Andy Lee Gold 40 – 44 years men Long Jump and Triple Jump. 5th 100m, 6th 200m. • Robyn Suttor Bronze 60 – 64 years women’s 60m • Shaun Wearne 4th 60m, 5th 35 – 39 years men’s 100m. • Sylvette Wearne Gold 55 – 59 years women’s 60m, Silver 100m. ● NSW Open Championships SOPAC 5th – 7th March 2021. • Christine Wearne final 100m 7th place. • Vinay triple jump 4th place.
