espite the fact that there has been several multifaceted cooperation between Georgia and Israel at the official level for many years, most of them have not grown beyond formal, and protocol based relations. At different times, both nations have also embarked on public initiatives, which, as a rule, mainly focused on the relations between Georgia and Georgian Jewry and not on the state relations between the two countries. Since its establishment, the efforts of the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and, later, the โIsraeli Houseโ have been aimed at building ties between the political, scientific or cultural elites of the two states. Chiefly notable are the initiatives to enhance cooperation in the parliamentary format, and to facilitate bilateral visits. Itsik Moshe, head of the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and the โIsraeli Houseโ, captured his experience at the World Jewish Agency as one that proves that the role of the third sector in cooperating with higher authorities in state affairs is immeasurable and sometimes unalterable. This is evidenced by the 20 business forums organized by the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and, traditionally, the participation of the Georgian and Israeli governments in these forums. In the context of economic cooperation, the multifaceted activities of the Chamber of Business have turned out to be the most effective tool in attracting multimillion-dollar investments from Israel and World Jewry to Georgia, promoting tourism in Georgia, introducing Georgia to business circles and making Georgia an attractive and interesting country for economic activities.
