Pah Tor Leu Lueang Mueang Chan Sen Women’s Weaving Group at Wat Chan Sen Thai silk is the textile that is different and unique in each region. It tells people the cultures and the origin of Thailand in different location. Nowadays, weaving is starting to extinct, because people overlook the importance of weaving, and it takes much time to get each piece done. Due to the development of textile industry, the central region weaving that has been widely weaved in the past is now on descent, and the pattern of each textile responses to consumers’ needs. Chan Sen textile is derived from the ability of Chan Sen citizens, and has been continuously inherited and conserved for a long time. Members of women’s weaving group at Wat Chan Sen has the ability to design and created the tie-dye style of the textile which is the signature of the group. Although this is acceptable in the community, but people in new generation who don’t realize the importance and value of weaving, resulting in the women’s weaving group at Wat Chan Sen face the problem of finding the inheritor for this business. Resulted from this reason, I would like to share the story and way of citizens in the community via the project of photo essay. It aims to support and conserve the culture for the new generation to realize and see the importance of the local artisan.
กลุ่มสตรีทอผ้า วัดจันเสน ผ้าไทย เป็นผ้าทอที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะในแต่ละท้องถิ่น บ่งบอกถึงวัฒนธรรม ความเป็นมาของไทย ปัจจุบันการทอผ้าเริ่มสูญหายจากสังคมไทย คนรุ่นใหม่เริ่มไม่เห็นความส�ำคัญของการทอผ้าเป็นเหตุให้ศิลปะการทอผ้าในหลายๆ ท้องถิ่นเริ่มสูญหายไป เพราะกว่าจะได้ผ้าแต่ละผืนต้องใช้ เวลาท�ำที่ยาวนาน ผ้าทอพื้นบ้านภาคกลางเคยมีการทอในหลายท้องถิ่น แต่เมื่ออุตสาหกรรมสิ่งทอมีการพัฒนา การทอผ้าด้วยมือจึงเริ่มลดน้อยลง แม้บางแห่งจะมีการทออยู่บ้าง แต่ลวดลายบนผืนผ้าเปลี่ยนไปตามความต้องการของผู้บริโภค ผ้าทอจันเสนเกิดจากภูมิปัญญาของชาวจันเสน ได้รับการสืบทอดและอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญามาอย่างต่อเนื่อง สมาชิกกลุ่มสตรีทอผ้าวัดจันเสน มีความ สามารถในการคิดสร้างสรรค์การมัดย้อม เพื่อให้เกิดลวดลายอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่นจนได้รับการยอมรับ แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม คนรุ่นใหม่ยังไม่ ตระหนักถึงความส�ำคัญและเห็นคุณค่าของการทอผ้า ท�ำให้กลุ่มสตรีทอผ้าวัดจันเสนประสบปัญหา หาผู้สืบทอดการทอผ้าต่อไม่ได้ จากเหตุผลดังกล่าว ฉันต้องการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวและวิถีชีวิตของคนในชุมชน ผ่านผลงานงานภาพถ่าย โดยใช้การเล่าเรื่อง แบบ Photo Essay เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมและอนุรักษ์ ไว้ให้คนรุ่นหลังตระหนักและเห็นความส�ำคัญของช่างฝีมือในท้องถิ่น
