Ali Ettehad

Ali Ettehad is a director, visual and performing artist. He was born in 1983 Sari, Iran. He studied cinema in art school of Tehran. He is also an art critic whose articles have been published in many international newspapers and magazines such as The Daily Star, Contemporary Practices, Art Tomorrow and etc. He curated many exhibitions and events in Iran; focused on contemporary art in Iran. His oeuvre is based on a concept Razvarzi (confidence). Razvarzi series which has reached its thirtieth episode by now contains different mediums; from photo-based 2D works to live performances and theater. Though seemingly confidence series is concerned about Persian mysticism and old traditions; by this means he studies problems and issues of Middle East today. He finds relations and connections between archetypes and behavior of middle-eastern today; believing that in this region history repeats itself over and over.
